Chapter 150: Chapter 124: It’s Time to End

The Gale subsided, leaving the ground in a shambles.

At the end of the dark passageway, in a corner around a bend, Fifth Sister and Number Six were pinned together, skewered by the Black Sword. Blood dripped from their bodies, drop by drop—PATTER, PATTER—forming a large pool on the ground, thick with a foul stench.

Having endured Su Xing’s full-force strike, the two Peak Tier Four Martial Artists were instantly obliterated by the Black Sword, suffering a swift and violent death.

Of the six Peak Tier Four Martial Artists who had come to surround and kill Su Xing, only Second Sister remained. Her eyes were ashen as she stared blankly at Su Xing, despair rising in her heart.

Her condition was now terrible as well. Though she hadn’t been struck directly by the Black Sword, the terrifying shockwave it had kicked up had definitely hit her.

Her body covered in wounds, she leaned against a nearby wall, feeling a piercing pain everywhere, as if ten thousand needles were being thrust in and pulled out of her skin again and again.

Her vision went black, and she couldn’t hear a thing. It was as if her brain had shut down, completely unresponsive. Only after a long moment did her senses return to normal.

If it weren’t for her Tier Four Peak level, her incredibly tough physique, and the protection of her Sequence energy, she would have been literally torn apart by the aftershock!

Even though she was still alive,

she could feel that she was very, very gravely injured.

However, more chilling than her grave injuries was the sight of Su Xing in the distance. He pulled the Black Sword free, turned his head, and fixed his gaze on her.

SQUELCH, SQUELCH, SQUELCH.

Su Xing’s footsteps squelched on the floor as if he were walking through water. The sound struck an even deeper terror into her heart, for she knew exactly what it was. That splashing... was blood! Her partners’ blood!

’Soon, my blood will join theirs!’

At this thought,

she couldn’t help but shut her eyes and wait for death.

But, to her surprise, Su Xing didn’t kill her right away. He walked over, stopped in front of her, placed his left hand under her chin to lift her head, and asked coldly:

"What is this place used for?"

Second Sister, who had been certain she was about to die, froze. She slowly opened her eyes to look at Su Xing’s face, which was now grotesque and smeared with blood.

She looked at Su Xing,

and Su Xing looked back at her.

Before encountering these six, Su Xing had never run into any other Martial Artists. He couldn’t help but be interested in a place that had six Martial Artists acting as gatekeepers.

’It’s just that they had hostile intentions from the moment they appeared. My only option was to beat them into submission until they were terrified, then I could properly ask what I wanted to know.’

"Gone mute?"

When Second Sister didn’t answer after a long moment, Su Xing frowned, his voice growing louder.

’He was genuinely curious about this place’s purpose and how these people had become Martial Artists. But if she really wasn’t going to talk, he didn’t want to waste any more time. He might as well just send her to Hell to be with her partners.’

Just as Su Xing had this thought, a trembling female voice finally sounded.

"N-no... I... I can talk."

Second Sister’s face was pale and her lips trembled slightly. Her beautiful eyes were brimming with terror.

It was terrifying to have her head held in his hand. She didn’t know at what moment she might die, and her racing thoughts had delayed her reply.

Su Xing didn’t seem to mind, however. He looked Second Sister up and down before asking:

"What is this place for?"

Observing her at close range,

Su Xing noticed that the clothes the woman wore were unusual.

The uniform was pitch-black with a large character for "Prisoner" on the back. Though it was unattractive, the prison garb constantly emitted the faint aura of a Sequence.

The aura was extremely faint; if he weren’t this close, Su Xing would never have noticed it.

He then reached out and felt the fabric, only then realizing the incredible Defense Power the uniform provided its wearer.

’True, all six Martial Artists had failed to withstand a single one of my sword strikes, but that was only because my own power is far beyond what anyone of the same tier can handle. Add to that the explosive boost from my "Sword Shatter" state, and the power gap between us was just too vast to prove anything.’

’Perhaps,’

’if it weren’t for this uniform,’

’Second Sister wouldn’t have survived. The aftershock from my last strike would have killed her outright.’

"Wh-what are you..."

Second Sister cried out in alarm when Su Xing suddenly touched her. But a single glance from him made her obediently shut her mouth. Only after a long pause did she continue:

"This is Vice Bishop Jie’s research institute."

"Vice Bishop Jie?"

’Su Xing seized on her words. This must be the second Vice Bishop of the Spiritual Sect. Following the Spiritual Sect’s naming conventions, his Sequence must be related to his name, "Jie." It probably has to do with analysis or decomposition. That kind of Sequence would be perfect for research.’

"A research institute? What does he normally research here?"

Su Xing asked, pulling his hand back from her uniform as he looked at her.

Seeing that Su Xing wasn’t going to do anything else to her, Second Sister let out a breath. She was still extremely nervous, but she answered his questions one after another with complete cooperation.

"So... you’re his research subjects?"
