Chapter 205: Chapter 149: Engagement

"Huh?!"

The uncle was still lost in thought.

Suddenly, he felt a force pull his body, yanking him behind his young nephew. Then, he saw Su Xing, holding a Black Sword, abruptly slash forward!

BOOM!!!

A violent cloud of smoke and dust instantly erupted!

At the same time, the thunderous explosion shattered the surrounding shockwaves and space itself, creating a vacuum within a radius of several meters and tearing open massive spatial rifts one after another.

"Wh-what’s going on?!"

Only then did the uncle snap out of it. Although he possessed the power of a Tier Four Peak and the corresponding cultivation method, he was, at the end of the day, someone who had never fought before. Faced with this situation, he was more than a little anxious and confused.

To say nothing of...

...a situation like this.

The sudden attack had left him completely unable to react. It wasn’t until Su Xing pulled him back and blasted the threat away with a single sword strike that he finally came to his senses and asked worriedly:

"Su Xing, are you okay?"

A black smoke was rising from Su Xing’s body. Beneath it, his clothes were torn with large holes, revealing skin as smooth as jade and as flawless as a sheet of ice.

However, he was completely unscathed.

"I’m fine, Uncle."

"An attack of this level can’t hurt me."

Su Xing’s voice was cold and brimming with killing intent, making his uncle’s skin crawl unconsciously.

He looked at Su Xing, who was standing in front of him.

At that moment, Su Xing’s eyes were fixed in one direction, as if he had sensed something.

"What is it?"

"Who launched that sneak attack?"

The uncle moved closer to Su Xing and, after first confirming there wasn’t a second attack coming, asked.

"I don’t know."

Su Xing shook his head.

He truly didn’t know who had ambushed them.

But based on the energy signature, the attacker had to be a Sequencer. And if they were a Sequencer, they were most likely from the Spirit Realm.

This, however, was beyond Su Xing’s expectations.

The gates to the Spirit Realm were supposed to be tightly guarded by a special organization. He couldn’t imagine how anyone from inside could have gotten out.

And besides...

’What was their reason for attacking me?’

At this thought,

Su Xing’s eyes narrowed.

He had a faint suspicion it had something to do with the massive phenomenon he’d caused by absorbing the martial fortune. He just hadn’t expected the enemy to arrive so quickly, so swiftly.

’Since you’ve come...’

’...why would you think you can leave?’

Su Xing murmured under his breath.

"What was that?"

The uncle had heard Su Xing mutter something but couldn’t make it out, so he asked instinctively.

"It’s nothing."

Su Xing shook his head.

He didn’t plan on letting his uncle get involved in what was to come.

Some things...

...he had to handle himself.

"Let’s head back to the Sword Hall."

"It’s not safe out here anymore."

"Alright."

The uncle didn’t suspect a thing.

He simply followed Su Xing back to the Sword Hall. After Su Xing introduced him to the staff and arranged a room for him, the two went their separate ways.

The snow turned to rain.

The drifting snowflakes gradually ceased.

A light drizzle pattered down from the heavens.

Overcast.

A figure emerged from the hazy curtain of rain.

He wore a black flat cap and a tight-fitting black outfit. He walked in silence, making his way to an abandoned building not far from the Sword Hall before turning into a corner.

Spotting a window eight or nine meters off the ground, the man in black glanced at it, then planted his right foot directly on the wall and began walking up it as if on level ground.

The scene was simply unbelievable.

It was an overcast day, and the light was dim.

In the faint brightness, one could just make out the man’s gecko-like form as he moved, step by step, toward the window.

Inside the abandoned building, it was pitch-dark.

The man in black reached the window, pulled the closed sash open, and jumped inside. Once he had landed firmly on his feet, he took off his cap.

"You’re back?"

"To attack me and then dare to linger near the Sword Hall... you’ve got some nerve."

The low, soft voice came from behind him.

It made him freeze on the spot.

Su Xing stood behind him. Though his voice was calm, he was like a demon restraining its thirst for slaughter. The thick killing intent in his eyes was impossible to disperse.

CLICK.

A pale light suddenly flickered on.

The man in black turned and saw Su Xing leaning against a load-bearing pillar, watching him quietly.

He instinctively glanced toward a corner.

It was pitch-black and empty, with seemingly nothing there. But Su Xing’s cold chuckle rang out again as he said:

"Come on out."

"This isn’t your real body."

"Heh heh."

The instant Su Xing’s words fell, a cold laugh suddenly echoed, and from that dark corner, the crisp sound of footsteps emerged.

Su Xing’s gaze flickered. Before his black and white eyes, a person emerged from the shadows as if breaking free from the darkness itself.

It was a man.

A man filled with extreme aggression.

He stared at Su Xing with an undisguised gaze, not even blinking, as if eyeing prey he was about to capture. It was a hair-raising sight.

He was a black-haired man, somewhat gaunt, with a very ordinary face—the type no one would look at twice in a crowd. But an extremely dense Sequence Energy wafted around him.

Just as Su Xing was sizing him up,

his main body and the man in black behind Su Xing began to transform at almost the same instant. Inky black Sequence Energy started to surge wildly,
