Chapter 248: Chapter 170: Night
"You’ve had your attack. It’s my turn now, isn’t it?"
The words had barely faded when,
Its opponent was no fool. While its intelligence wasn’t on par with a human’s, years of experience in the Spirit Realm had granted it powerful combat instincts.
It had no intention of pulling back the greatsword striking Su Xing. Instead, the beast opened its maw and lunged, biting down on the membrane of light protecting him.
It was almost unimaginable.
A defense that its greatsword couldn’t even break, and it was trying to bite through it.
But as unbelievable as it was,
Su Xing didn’t treat his opponent like a fool. He immediately drew his sword and slashed out in a blur of motion, faster than before.
BZZZT!!!
Su Xing’s sword flashed upward, landing a heavy blow on its head. As its head was sent flying, Su Xing kicked it squarely in the abdomen, blasting the creature aside.
If a human had taken such a beating,
they would have died on the spot. It wouldn’t matter if they were an Extraordinary Being; even they would find it hard to withstand those two terrifying attacks.
But the centaur,
staggered back to its feet.
However,
it was no longer rational. It stomped the ground frantically, letting out a series of roars that seemed to emanate from its abdomen, just like it had become one of the living dead.
At this thought,
Su Xing tightened his grip on his sword.
He knew full well that these living dead were spiritual beasts reanimated after their demise.
What he had never imagined, however,
was that this spiritual beast—one that seemed capable of controlling the living dead—would end up becoming one itself. This meant, at the very least, that this creature wasn’t the true mastermind. The real culprit was lurking somewhere much deeper.
"Tsk."
’Don’t tell me I’ve already provoked someone I can’t afford to on my first trip to the Spirit Realm?’
Su Xing muttered to himself.
However, his wild thoughts lasted only for a moment.
Realizing his opponent had turned into one of the living dead, Su Xing knew this battle was far from over.
The Snake Sword,
instantly materialized in his left hand.
Snake Sword in his left, Black Sword in his right, he crossed the twin blades and slashed forward instantly.
However,
the headless centaur seemed to have lost what little intellect it had left.
It charged with reckless abandon,
not caring in the slightest whether it could withstand Su Xing’s attack. It simply pounced toward him like a mad beast, as if trying to trade its life for his.
But,
what gave it the right to trade its life for Su Xing’s?
It couldn’t.
It was impossible.
With all its might, it grabbed both of Su Xing’s swords with its bare hands. The blades stopped, but only for an instant—
The swords,
moved again.
Like a train slowly starting up, they accelerated from an unremarkable speed to a blur the naked eye could barely track. In an instant, Su Xing’s blades sliced through the centaur’s hands and plunged into its chest.
Just like that, the two sharp swords cut through its chest, cleaving through flesh and blood before finally bursting out from its back.
Only then did the centaur’s sluggish consciousness finally realize something was wrong.
It wanted to retreat immediately, to prevent Su Xing from slicing it completely in half.
But,
it was too late.
Some opportunities, once missed, can never be recovered, no matter the effort. This was one such checkmate.
Seizing the opportunity as it tried to retreat,
Su Xing forced his hands down, driving the two swords buried in its body on a brutal downward path!
RRRRIP!
Even the incredibly resilient body of a spiritual beast,
could not withstand Su Xing’s terrifying power, especially since that power was being unleashed from within.
CRACK!
In an instant,
Su Xing had sliced the centaur into three pieces, the cuts running from its chest all the way down to its legs. A massive spray of foul blood and dislodged organs gushed out like a fountain.
Su Xing ignored the filth, recalling how the creature had kept moving even after he’d lopped its head off. To prevent that from happening again, he quickly pulled his swords free and, with a flurry of incredibly fast strikes, hacked the body to pieces.
So fast were his blades,
that it took only a few seconds for the mangled corpse to be reduced to smithereens. There were absolutely no signs of life left. If it could still be alive after that, then even Su Xing would have to admit defeat.
"Hoo."
Su Xing casually picked up the nearby beast core and absorbed it completely.
’Just one left now.’
Su Xing glanced at the other living dead standing dazed in the distance. Its master’s death had been so sudden that it seemed it hadn’t even processed what had happened.
But,
Su Xing didn’t care what it was thinking.
With a casual flick of his wrist,
he launched the Black Sword through the air!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A series of sonic booms echoed as huge vapor rings formed in the sky along the Black Sword’s trajectory. Like an intercontinental ballistic missile, it instantly slammed into the last living dead.
BOOM!
A deafening roar erupted,
and smoke billowed into the air!
After a long moment, the smoke finally began to dissipate, revealing only the Black Sword plunged into the earth and a massive crater.
The crater was absurdly large, without a single trace of snow on its surface, as if the impact of the Black Sword had simply melted everything away.
Deep within the crater,
lay a single, sparkling stone.
Everything else had been melted away.
Even the living dead—every inch of its skin and hair—had been utterly turned to ash, as if it had never existed in this world at all.
