"Ugh..."

Blake covered his mouth.

His stomach was still protesting violently.

They had gotten out of the elevator several minutes ago, but apparently that wasn’t enough time for his body to forgive him.

His knees felt unsteady, and the strange sensation of having his entire stomach flipped upside down refused to disappear.

Myles immediately moved closer, holding him against his chest.

Blake leaned into him, breathing slowly.

"I didn’t expect you to feel this bad."

"It’s not really a big deal..."

Blake swallowed.

"...but next time, some warning would definitely help."

Myles was quiet for a moment.

"I’ll warn you."

"Thank you."

Blake sighed heavily and straightened himself.

He took another breath.

"Okay. I’m alright now."

Myles loosened his hold.

"Can you walk?"

"Yes."

Blake stood properly, although he remained close to Myles for another few seconds.

"Let’s go."

They finally approached the door at the end of the corridor.

Myles opened it.

And Blake immediately stopped.

Everyone was there.

"Hi, Blake."

Zlatan waved from the sofa, smiling with that almost blindingly bright expression of his.

"Oh, hi..."

Blake gave him a small wave.

He suddenly felt awkward.

It had been weeks since he’d seen most of Myles’ coworkers.

"Move."

Zlatan stared.

"There is plenty of space for the three of us."

Myles continued staring... Zlatan stared back.

Neither moved.

After several seconds, Zlatan sighed dramatically and stood.

"Fine."

He shrugged and moved to another seat.

Blake scratched the back of his head.

He felt a little guilty about that.

"Sorry."

"It’s fine."

Blake sat down beside Myles.

Alexis immediately groaned.

"Can we just get started already?"

Blake gave an awkward smile.

"Right."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out the deformed ring.

"As you know, these blueprints are a little outdated."

He placed the ring on his palm.

"Nonetheless, if we have a rough idea of where the documents we need might be, we can look at the information available here and decide for ourselves."

The ring projected the familiar holographic blueprints above his hand.

The image flickered slightly before stabilizing, layers of blue lines spreading across the air.

Tania leaned forward.

"If I have the material itself, I can probably use my ability to see things more clearly."

Blake nodded.

"That’s what I was thinking."

He handed her the ring.

Tania took it and immediately stood, walking toward one corner of the room and sat down, studying the projection.

Blake reached into his pockets again.

He pulled out several folded pieces of paper.

"Meanwhile, I drew some of it."

He unfolded the first sheet.

"More or less."

He spread them across the large table.

"I could barely read the smaller text, so I had to make some guesses."

He began arranging the papers.

Piece after piece.

They fit together surprisingly well.

Blake moved them around effortlessly, remembering exactly where each section belonged.

Fortunately, the table was large enough to accommodate the whole thing.

Soon, a rough recreation of the facility’s blueprints covered nearly the entire surface.

There were corridors, rooms, access points, service passages and several sections Blake had marked with little symbols because he hadn’t been certain what the original labels said.

Everyone stared at it thoughtfully.

Blake suddenly felt embarrassed.

He glanced down at his drawings.

The lines were uneven in places. Some of the labels were written in tiny handwriting, and a few sections were nothing more than crude approximations.

’They look pretty childish...’

He’d assumed he was the only person who would ever see them.

Alexis pointed toward one section.

"This spot."

Blake looked over.

’It’s YEN.’

Alexis tapped the paper.

"We’ve tried to infiltrate this one before. Didn’t work."

Blake’s eyebrows rose.

YEN.

That was actually one of the locations he’d considered during his previous investigation.

He hadn’t chosen it in the end. He’d gone with a-exp first.

He leaned closer to the blueprint.

"What happened?"

"I couldn’t get far enough inside, if basically not at all" Alexis answered.

"Did you decide to try this place for a specific reason?"

Estelle answered.

"I got into their surveillance cameras."

Blake looked at her.

"They were renovating the facility. At the same time, a bunch of documents were being sorted and removed because they were supposedly old and useless. I managed to save a few clips before they detected me and kicked me out of the system."

She gestured toward Alexis’ point.

"The resolution wasn’t great, but there were clearly pictures attached to several of the documents."

Blake frowned.

"Pictures?"

"Yes. On the front of the documents, mostly."

"So they were being catalogued?"

"Something like that."

Estelle folded her arms.

"I couldn’t stay in long enough to see the contents."

Zlatan leaned back.

"We didn’t push the infiltration any further because we didn’t know what those documents actually contained."

"And because you didn’t know where they’d be moved afterward," Blake added.

"Exactly."

"But for now, it’s definitely one of our first choices."

Blake hummed.

’Well, of course... if those documents were old records being cleared out, then there is a possibility that some of the first-generation material has been moved there temporarily.’

But actually getting hold of it would require digging fairly deep.

And that was the part that worried him.

Blake folded his arms.

"There’s one thing I’m worried about. If I go in there, I might have to fight Trail-X, last time, that also happened."

The room became quieter.

"In either case, I could meet someone dangerous... that would complicate things considerably."

He hesitated.

"I’m not weak, but I’m not comparable to someone with altered DNA."

Estelle shrugged.

"That’s not a big problem."

Blake looked at her.

"You’ll be accompanied by Alexis."

Blake froze.

"...What?"

Alexis frowned.

"What’s that face for?"

"Why?"

Alexis scoffed.

"What do you mean, why?"

Alexis leaned back.

"As you said, you’re a weakling."

"Hey."

"Between all of us, we don’t exactly have an investigation specialist."

He pointed toward himself.

"But if we had to choose one, I’m the best option."

Blake stared.

"You?"

Alexis looked offended that this required clarification.

"I investigated and found the place where you were being held captive."

Blake’s eyes widened.

"You did?"

Alexis nodded.

"I found it."

Blake looked at Myles.

Myles simply nodded.

Blake turned back toward Alexis.

"I didn’t know that."

"Obviously."

"Thank you..."

"Ugh. Don’t make it weird."

Blake smiled faintly.

"Okay."

Alexis pointed toward the blueprint again.

"Regardless, we’ll have to figure out exactly how we’re getting inside and how we’re moving around once we’re there."

He pointed toward the blueprint.

"But if that brat shows up..."

His expression hardened.

"I’ll take care of it."

Blake nodded slowly.

"Okay."

That was... reassuring, just a little.

He glanced back at the map.

"If Trail-X isn’t there, then we should be able to focus on the documents."

"Assuming we can identify which documents matter," Estelle said.

"Right."

Blake tapped his fingers against the table.

"We can’t just take everything. If they have hundreds of old records being moved around, that would take forever."

Myles looked over the papers.

"We need an identifier."

"Something connected to the first generation."

"Or a location where those records would normally be kept."

Blake nodded.

"Exactly."

The room fell quiet again.

Everyone focused on the scattered pieces of information.

The outdated hologram.

Blake’s hand-drawn reconstruction.

Estelle’s surveillance footage.

YEN.

Somewhere in all of that was the answer.

Tania suddenly stood.

Everyone looked at her.

She was still holding the deformed ring.

"I found something."

Blake straightened.

"What?"

Tania walked back toward the table.

She placed the ring beside the blueprints.

"I managed to see some memories of Alfred Hicth. He touched this ring thousands of times more than you."

Everyone moved closer.

Tania pointed toward a small section of the holographic projection.

"There."

Blake leaned forward.

At first, he couldn’t see anything.

Then Tania enlarged the image.

A cluster of faint markings appeared.

"These aren’t part of the complete blueprint," she said.

Alexis frowned.

"What are they?"

"Coordinates."

The room fell silent.

Blake’s eyes widened.

"Coordinates for what?"

Tania looked at the papers spread across the table.

"I don’t know yet."

She tapped the projection again.

"But they’re connected to the YEN facility."

Blake looked between the markings and his own drawings.

"Can you tell where they lead?"

"Not immediately."

Tania adjusted the projection.

The lines shifted.

"There are several reference points."

Myles leaned closer.

"Could they be internal?"

Tania nodded.

"Possibly."

"Then maybe they’re not coordinates in the conventional sense," Blake said.

Everyone looked at him.

He pointed toward one of his hand-drawn pages.

"If this is the facility’s internal map, these points could correspond to storage areas."

Tania looked at the paper.

"That’s possible."

Blake’s eyes narrowed.

He began comparing the locations.

"If these marks were added later, maybe they’re telling someone where to move specific material."

Estelle’s expression changed.

"So the renovation wasn’t the important part."

"No."

Tania looked at all of them.

"They were moving something."

Blake stared at the coordinates.

His stomach, which had only just recovered from the elevator, seemed to tighten again.

"Then we’d better figure out where."
