System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL]
Chapter 199: Met him so quickly, huh...Blake soon realized that the person who had pulled him away was just some random man.
His eyes widened. Quite frankly, he wanted to break free, but... his half brother was still there.
He had to at least let him walk past before doing anything.
So, for those few seconds, Blake and the stranger found themselves making eye contact.
The man was middle-aged, with brown hair and striking green eyes. There was something undeniably handsome about him, an appearance that stood out even among the wealthy people Blake saw in the past.
Thankfully, his half brother eventually walked away, which made him sigh in relief.
’But now what?’
What was he supposed to say to this man? He couldn’t exactly just say thanks and walk away, could he?
Before he could come up with anything, someone else grabbed him from behind, an arm wrapping around his waist, which startled him.
But he recognized those cold hands immediately, it was Myles.
"What are you doing here, Nikolay?"
The middle-aged man glanced over, seemingly amused.
"The moment I was informed that someone had used my card, I just had to check who it was among the five of you. Trust me, the last thing I was expecting was you, having a date no less."
Myles’s eyebrow twitched.
"What were you doing with him?"
Nikolay raised both hands, smiling innocently.
"Your little guy looked like he was in trouble. It was only right that I helped."
Blake raised an eyebrow.
’Little guy?’
He shook his head. Now was definitely not the time to focus on that.
He turned toward Myles.
"Maybe you could introduce me?"
Myles looked at him, humming in a way that sounded almost reluctant.
"This is Nikolay Ivanovich Demidov. The man we spoke about earlier."
Nikolay extended his hand.
"It is a pleasure to meet you."
He shook it.
"Blake Ashford, the pleasure is all mine..."
Myles had mentioned earlier that Zlatan and Nikolay weren’t related by blood, but even so... Blake had to admit that he was quite handsome.
"If you’re done, we should go back and continue our meal."
The man chuckled.
"Next time, I want to see the whole team gathered together."
Myles simply turned around. Still holding Blake’s hand, he began walking away.
Blake glanced back over his shoulder.
"Have a good evening."
He gave Nikolay a polite nod before finally allowing himself to be led away.
For a few seconds, he could still feel the man’s gaze following them.
The two of them returned to their table.
"Don’t wander off next time."
Blake scratched the back of his head.
"It wasn’t even that long! How did you know I was in trouble?"
"I knew from the start that you were lying."
Blake blinked.
"How?"
"Your heartbeat."
Blake sighed and dropped his head.
’Ah, right, he did mention that ability of his, I’m such an idiot.’
"What made you anxious all of a sudden?"
Blake’s head immediately shot up, his brows furrowing.
"About that... you told me earlier that my family isn’t exactly close with this place, but I spotted my half brother."
Myles continued eating his dish as he answered.
"Even if they don’t have a business connection here, that doesn’t mean they don’t check in on his restaurants. This is a famous one, after all. And all the higher floors are frequented by wealthy people. The heir of Anlorta being here isn’t particularly strange."
Blake sighed heavily and returned his attention to his soup.
He knew Myles was right, technically. Still, seeing him had caught him completely off guard.
He had spent the last few minutes trying not to look toward the entrance, half expecting the man to suddenly return.
A moment later, Myles gently nudged Blake’s shoe beneath the table.
He raised his gaze.
"I want to try your soup."
Blake smiled. He picked up his spoon and offered Myles a mouthful.
"You made a good choice."
Blake laughed quietly.
’Was that an attempt to lift my mood or something?’
Before he could ask, a waiter approached their table.
"Is everything all right? Would you like some wine, perhaps, or—"
"No."
The waiter nodded and walked away.
Blake watched him leave.
"I wanted to try it, though."
"You shouldn’t drink alcohol."
"My tolerance isn’t that low."
"You already got drunk once. Better if it doesn’t happen again."
Blake immediately remembered that particular occasion.
His face heated with embarrassment.
"Normally, I don’t drink that much. On that occasion, it was your fault! My tolerance is completely normal!"
Myles merely hummed.
Blake narrowed his eyes.
"Have you ever gotten drunk?"
"I can’t."
"What?"
"I’m immune to it."
"How?!"
"I have resistance to poisons and similar substances."
Blake stared at him for a moment.
’How lucky...!’
Apparently, Myles’s alien side could give him that too.
He leaned back in his chair, contemplating it.
"So you really can’t get drunk at all? Not even a little?"
"No. You wanted to see me drunk?"
"Can’t say I didn’t..."
"You’ve already seen what happens when someone gets drunk."
***
For his own sake, Blake didn’t look at the check at the end.
He didn’t want to know.
Whatever the amount was, he was certain it would ruin his evening.
They were both full, not long afterward, they were at Myles’s house.
More specifically, they were on his bed.
Blake felt genuinely relieved after his shower. Summer was only a week away, and he couldn’t believe the weather was going to get even hotter.
He genuinely couldn’t.
Ba-dump.
Ba-dump.
Ba-dump.
Lately, he had been feeling incredibly tired, too, so the heat certainly wasn’t helping.
He wiped his damp hair with a towel before tossing it aside.
’I hate summer...!’
Myles glanced at him.
Blake threw himself down beside him, already feeling incredibly drowsy.
Myles had basically either brought him to his house or somehow inserted himself into Blake’s home life at this point.
It seemed like the man really wanted to see him sleep.
Well...
Whatever.
"Goodnight."
Blake closed his eyes.
Myles looked down at him as his breathing gradually evened out, shoulders also relaxing.
He continued stroking his hair until Blake had completely fallen asleep.
It was much later in the night when he began to stir, his body becaming agitated beneath the light sheet.
The sleepwalking had been happening more frequently lately.
Fortunately, Myles was always there to gently guide him back toward bed. There was no good in restraining him, since holding him down would only agitate and confuse him even more.
It was for that very reason that Blake often found himself tired. But fortunately, for now, he didn’t seem to question it seriously.
’I want to ask him, but I don’t want to push him over the edge.’
As for the sleep talking...
Myles had discovered that Blake did it extremely rarely. And whenever he did, he said things he couldn’t piece together.
It was mostly Blake’s face that revealed what he was feeling.
He cried, laughed and often frowned in between.
His heartbeat revealed everything, even when his words did not.
"I want it..."
Blake suddenly sat up.
Myles got up after him.
He wandered toward the kitchen, seemingly searching for something.
A chair.
Myles quietly pulled one out for him and gently helped him sit.
Then he stood directly behind him, close enough to catch him if he suddenly lost his balance.
Blake placed a hand against the table.
"I can only have that..."
He paused.
"But I like it anyway..."
Myles listened to his heartbeat.
For a brief moment, it was euphoric.
Almost childlike.
Then, just as quickly, it became sad.
Blake stared at nothing in particular.
His fingers slowly curled against the edge of the table.
Myles didn’t ask what he was talking about.
There was no point, he never really answered properly.
Whatever Blake was seeing in his dreams, he clearly wasn’t awake enough to explain it.
After a while, he stood again.
Myles caught him before he could stumble, helping him to his feet before guiding him back toward the bedroom.
His movements were careful and slow.
Blake followed without resistance, still completely asleep.
He helped him lie down.
But the moment his head touched the pillow, Blake’s heartbeat accelerated.
Then he began to cry.
Myles froze for a moment.
He listened.
The rhythm was frantic now, uneven and stressed.
Whatever Blake was dreaming about had gotten worse.
Myles laid down beside him once more and pulled Blake against his chest, holding him gently.
Blake’s fingers instinctively curled into his shirt.
Myles lowered his gaze.
He could feel every shaky breath against his chest.
He could hear every uneven beat of his heart.
This wasn’t simply a nightmare.
Something had frightened him deeply.
Myles’s hand moved slowly through his hair.
"It’s all right," he murmured, even though he knew Blake couldn’t hear him.
Blake continued crying softly against his chest.
Myles stared into the darkness, an ominous feeling settling deep inside him.
Something was wrong, he just didn’t know what.
