Tempting Him to Lose Control

Chapter 101: Waiting for Her to Cheat and Cuckold You

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Waiting for Her to Cheat and Cuckold You

"The call’s still going..."

Claire Kendall whimpered, reaching for the phone on the bedside table. But just as her fingers touched the metal casing, Miles Warren snatched her hand back.

He captured her wrist with one hand, pinning it above her head.

"That scared he’ll find out, hmm?"

His voice was low and raspy, laced with a hint of lazy danger.

Before she could answer, he lowered his head and kissed her, his lips trailing from her earlobe down her neck. Claire Kendall’s body shivered, and a soft, delicate whimper escaped her throat.

She quickly bit her lip, swallowing the sound back down.

The screen of the phone on the floor glowed, and Jacob Sinclair’s voice came through, sounding slightly anxious.

"Claire Kendall, what are you doing?"

"Be good. Unblock my number and my WhatsApp. When I’m done with my work and back in Aethel, we’ll sit down and talk face-to-face."

Miles Warren glanced at the active call on the phone, then leaned in and kissed her harder, more fiercely.

"Mmph, don’t..."

He was leaving Claire Kendall breathless, but she didn’t dare make a sound, her face flushing crimson from the effort.

Only when the person on the other end hung up and the line went dead did Miles Warren finally release her.

She looked up at the man on top of her and glared. "You did that on purpose."

"Yeah."

Claire Kendall raised an eyebrow with a light laugh, poking his chest with her index finger. "Jealous?"

Her finger slid down to poke his belt buckle. "If you’re so jealous, then why did you stop?"

Miles Warren caught her mischievous hand. Ignoring her provocation, he opened the drawer of the nightstand and took out a tube of ointment.

"I think what you put on earlier was enough. I don’t need more," Claire Kendall said, glancing at her chest. The rash was already mostly gone.

"This isn’t for the rash. It’s for abrasions." Miles Warren patted her lightly. "Open up."

"You..."

Claire Kendall turned as red as a beet. ’Who’s the shameless one here, really?’

The standoff lasted less than two minutes before Claire Kendall surrendered, obediently letting him apply the ointment.

When he was finished, Claire Kendall fanned her face with her hand, a thin layer of sweat beading on her forehead from the embarrassment.

Miles Warren screwed the cap back on the ointment. "What are you so shy about? At the research summit, when I was drugged, didn’t you do the same thing to me?"

"Besides, I was just applying medicine..." He moved on top of her.

Claire Kendall tensed up. "Don’t. You just put the ointment on."

"I won’t do anything for real," Miles Warren murmured, his voice muffled as he kissed her.

It was the exact same line she’d used on him that night when she had been in control.

’Is this really the cold, ascetic Dr. Warren I know?’

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! A crisp knock suddenly broke the silence.

"Uncle, is the Fairy Princess here? I accidentally fell asleep."

As if shocked, Claire Kendall shoved Miles Warren away and frantically straightened her wrinkled clothes.

"Uncle, I’m coming in!"

Bobby stood at the door in cartoon pajamas, his messy hair making him look like a newly hatched chick. When he saw that Claire Kendall was really there, his drowsy eyes instantly lit up.

He jumped onto the bed and threw himself into Claire Kendall’s arms. "Fairy Princess!"

His eyes darted around. "Fairy Princess, will you sleep with me tonight? Uncle is a grown-up. Grown-ups don’t need company to sleep."

"Okay, I’ll sleep with you." Claire Kendall ruffled the little one’s hair and shot Miles Warren a look that clearly said, ’Don’t you dare argue with a child.’

Miles Warren got up, left the master bedroom to them, and went to the guest bedroom for a cold shower.

’Bobby had only been here one night, and he already wanted to send him back to the family estate.’

「The next morning」

Claire Kendall took the little one to kindergarten.

At the school gate, Claire Kendall took a selfie of the two of them and sent it to Miles Warren.

Miles Warren had just finished his morning meeting when his phone vibrated. He opened the message, and his gaze froze. His fingers unconsciously traced over the image of Claire Kendall on the screen, her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.

Her messages popped up one after another.

"Dr. Warren, we’ve arrived."

"It might rain today. Remember to take an umbrella if you go out!"

"And a compliment for my hubby: breakfast was delicious today!"

...

Miles Warren stared at the word "hubby." He knew she was deliberately trying to flatter him, yet the corners of his lips still curved into a smile.

The doctors who hadn’t yet left the meeting exchanged glances.

Why was the perpetually stone-faced Professor Warren so happy today? His expression was uncharacteristically gentle.

One of the bolder, more curious interns asked him directly.

"Dr. Warren, whose message are you reading that’s making you so happy?"

Miles Warren looked up, his tone casual. "My wife’s."

Those two words sent the conference room into an uproar.

"His wife?!"

"What’s going on? Wasn’t he single?"

"Professor Warren, you’re married?"

Miles Warren nodded. "We got the license yesterday."

Their resident ’ice prince,’ the man who acted like a stuffy old official, had a whirlwind marriage?!

Everyone’s jaws dropped in shock.

"All right, let’s prepare for rounds." Miles Warren stood up, and the doctors filed out of the conference room.

Jonathan Keller stared at Miles Warren, stopping him and pulling the conference room door shut.

His tone was one of complete certainty. "You married Claire Kendall."

"Yes."

"Are you crazy?" Jonathan Keller said in disbelief. "I know you like her, that you still have feelings for her, but you can’t be this impulsive! The person she loves is Jacob Sinclair! Are you just going to wait for her to cheat on you?"

He was filled with regret. He shouldn’t have let Claire Kendall take Miles Warren home that night; it would have been better to let him drink himself to death at Cheer.

Miles Warren’s voice grew cold. "She hasn’t. Don’t spread baseless rumors."

"Defending her already? Have you forgotten how badly she humiliated you at the anniversary celebration?"

Miles Warren’s expression was icy. "That wasn’t her fault. Yvonne Warren was the one with ulterior motives."

"But she still lied to you! If she hadn’t, none of this would have ever happened."

Jonathan Keller was going insane. He had watched his best friend leap into a pit of fire twice. But this was even better—now he’d gone and gotten a marriage license, basically booking a direct trip to the crematorium.

"She had her reasons." Miles Warren’s brow furrowed, his expression grave. "And I don’t want anyone putting pressure on my wife."

Jonathan Keller was speechless. ’??? Saying a few words behind her back counts as pressure now?’

「Moonstone」

Claire Kendall received a notification for a social media post from her best friend, Sharon Carter.

The title read: "Simon Quinn’s Lecture Series on Intangible Cultural Heritage: Final Stop in Quillmore."

Sharon Carter sent a voice message. "Claire! It’s your university professor! He’s finally back in the country."

Claire Kendall’s eyes lit up. She tapped on the photo—it really was her professor from her university days.

After she graduated, Simon Quinn had gone abroad and had only just returned. He was holding a series of lectures on intangible cultural heritage, and this was the final one.

She glanced at the time. It was at 8 p.m. She should be able to make it. Claire Kendall immediately booked a flight to Quillmore.

She sent a message to Miles Warren.

"I have to go out of town for a bit. Dr. Warren, please remember to pick up Bobby tonight!"

By the time Miles Warren finished surgery and saw the message, it was already three in the afternoon.

He tried calling Claire Kendall, but the call wouldn’t go through. She was probably on the plane.

He called the Moonstone shop, and Wendy White answered.

"Is Claire Kendall on a business trip?"

"M-Mr. Warren? No, Claire went to Quillmore."

Miles Warren hung up. The knuckles of the hand gripping his phone slowly turned white.

Quillmore.

A three-hour flight from Aethel.

The branch of Jacob Sinclair’s company that he’d sabotaged was in Quillmore—which meant Jacob Sinclair was there right now.

He took out his phone.

"File a flight plan for a private jet to Quillmore. Yes, for today. The sooner, the better."

Outside the window, the rain had begun to fall. Miles Warren watched it, his gaze darkening with every drop.

’If he got there and saw Claire Kendall with Jacob Sinclair...’

’What would he do?’
