Tempting Him to Lose Control

Chapter 100: It’s All the Bad Men Outside Seducing Her

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: It’s All the Bad Men Outside Seducing Her

Miles Warren glanced down at Claire Kendall.

She immediately pressed against him, looping her arm through his and blinking. Her voice was dripping with sweetness.

"Darling~ She said you’re a wild man!"

Her "Darling" was sweet and clear as she tilted her little face up, deliberately raising her voice.

The smile on Joanne Sutton’s face froze.

’Claire Kendall called Miles Warren "Darling"? So the man she married was Miles Warren?!’

’How could this be possible?’

Miles glanced coldly at Joanne Sutton, his voice heavy. "It seems the lesson I taught Ms. Sutton last time wasn’t enough."

Joanne Sutton explained frantically, "Mr. Warren, I didn’t know you were married to her. She..."

Miles Warren cut her off. "What about her? My wife is not for anyone to judge."

"Darling, I knew you loved me the most," Claire Kendall said in an affectedly sweet voice, standing on her tiptoes to plant a loud SMACK of a kiss on his cheek.

She shot Joanne Sutton a triumphant smile. "See that? He’s my legally certified husband, and I’m his one and only, lawfully wedded wife."

"An ATM is nothing. In the future, I’ll get half of the Warren Group." Claire Kendall exaggerated, shaking her head smugly just to rub it in.

Joanne Sutton’s face went from pale to flushed, a terrible sight. ’She couldn’t believe it. So the rumors online were true. The heir to the Warren family is a hardcore, lovesick fool.’

She clenched her fists, her eyes filled with rage as she watched their retreating backs.

’Claire Kendall, why are you so damn lucky?!’

Miles Warren drove Claire Kendall back to Vista Gardens, and she got out.

"Stay put."

He rolled down the window.

"The pills—take two after meals. The ointment—apply it after your shower."

"Got it. Thanks, Dr. Warren."

"No more ’Darling’?"

"Hm?" Claire Kendall stopped in her tracks and blinked. "Is Dr. Warren getting addicted to it? Don’t worry, we have plenty of time. I’ll say it for you every day from now on."

"I’ll call you whatever you want me to call you, Dr. Warren~"

Her words were laced with innuendo.

Miles Warren immediately rolled the window back up.

Rebuffed, Claire Kendall turned and went upstairs.

Miles Warren stared at her retreating figure and lit a cigarette. He’d been smoking a lot more frequently lately.

’All that came out of that mouth of hers were pretty little lies designed to make him happy.’

’She’s young, she doesn’t know any better. It’s always some bad man from the outside leading her astray. It’s fine if she takes a wrong turn now and then. He had more than enough ways to get his little wife back on the right path.’

He took out his phone and made a call.

"Make some trouble for the Sinclair Group. Get Jacob Sinclair out of Aethel."

He paused, then asked, "Is Maya Warren back yet?"

"The young lady isn’t back yet. The situation in Euland is still volatile."

"Okay. And tell the old man I’m having Bobby Warren stay at Regency Gardens for a few days."

The person on the other end was confused. "To your place?"

He grunted in affirmation and hung up.

He stubbed out his cigarette, closed the window, and his gaze grew deeper and darker.

That evening, Claire Kendall was having dinner with Shirley Kendall when she got a call from Bobby.

"Fairy Princess, you broke your promise! You said you’d pick me up from preschool, but you were lying to me."

Hearing the child’s voice, Shirley Kendall asked curiously, "Whose child is that?" She had a particular fondness for children.

Bobby’s bright, clear voice carried from the phone’s earpiece.

"Are you the Fairy Princess’s mommy? Hello, Grandma!"

"I’m Dr. Warren’s nephew, Bobby. I’m sorry to bother you so late, Grandma."

"It’s just... my mommy has been overseas for a long time and hasn’t come back. She doesn’t even call. There’s no one to keep me company, and I miss my Fairy Princess."

That single "Grandma" melted Shirley Kendall’s heart. Hearing the poor little guy’s voice, thick with unshed tears, she rushed to get closer to the phone.

"Bobby, you’re such a good, strong boy. This is Grandma. Don’t you worry, I’ll have your Fairy Princess come over right away."

"Really? Grandma! You’re the best grandma in the whole world!"

Bobby’s syrupy-sweet voice had Shirley Kendall beaming with delight.

Shirley Kendall quickly turned to urge Claire Kendall, "Claire, you should go stay with him until Bobby’s mom gets back."

"Mom, but..."

"But what? Dr. Warren has been our great benefactor. He’s busy with work, so you should go help out for a few days. It won’t get in the way of your work for Moonstone."

Claire Kendall hadn’t expected her mother to be so insistent.

She reluctantly started packing a few things.

"Grandma, the car to pick up the Fairy Princess is already downstairs! I’ll come visit you another day!"

"Okay, my good Bobby." Shirley Kendall smiled warmly and instructed, "Claire, make sure you take lots of pictures and videos of Bobby when you get there."

"I know, Mom."

Downstairs, a black van was waiting. The driver, who looked like he’d been waiting for a long time, was dozing off. He jolted awake when he saw her and immediately got out to take her luggage.

She was a little suspicious.

’What a coincidence. Bobby hadn’t contacted her at all recently, so why would he call at this exact moment to get her to go back to Regency Gardens?’

When the car arrived at Regency Gardens, a security guard greeted her. "Ms. Warren, you’re back."

Claire Kendall nodded. "Yep, back to my husband’s place."

The guard blinked, muttering to himself, ’I thought they’d had a fight and split up. Turns out they just took some time off to get married.’

"Congratulations, congratulations..." the guard said, one after the other.

Claire Kendall entered unit 501. The living room was lit by wall sconces, where Miles Warren sat on the sofa, looking at his laptop. He glanced up, his tone flat.

"Bobby was missing his mom and insisted on coming here. I had no choice but to call you."

Miles Warren’s straightforwardness made Claire Kendall subconsciously purse her lips.

’Looks like I was overthinking things. I actually thought this was one of his little schemes... But that’s right, he wouldn’t do something so trivial. He’s probably annoyed with me, if anything.’

’Still, this was perfect. It gave her an opportunity for some "close contact," which was exactly what she wanted.’

"Where’s Bobby? I’ll go check on him."

"In the guest room. He’s already asleep, so don’t disturb him."

Miles Warren stepped forward, grabbed Claire Kendall’s suitcase from the entryway, and pulled it straight into the master bedroom. "Is it still itchy? Did you apply the ointment?"

"No." Claire Kendall pulled the ointment out of her bag, sat on the bed, and held it up with a shake, speaking as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "You can help me, Dr. Warren."

Miles Warren took the ointment as Claire Kendall undid a few of her buttons. The red patches on her skin were much better than they had been that afternoon, leaving only a scattering of faint marks—many of which he had left there the night before.

His throat felt a little dry. His calloused fingers brushed against her skin as he began to apply the ointment.

"Hiss..." Claire Kendall shrank back. "Miles Warren, be gentle! You’re hurting me."

The touch of his calloused fingertips sent shivers through her, a dangerously alluring sensation.

"So fussy," Miles Warren said, his voice cold, but his touch unconsciously softened.

Claire Kendall let out a soft hum, growing drowsy under his touch. The cool sensation on her skin was simply addictive.

Her arms subconsciously wrapped around his neck. "No more ointment, mmm~"

The man lowered his head and placed a few soft kisses on the red marks from her allergic reaction.

Suddenly, a phone rang.

Miles Warren glanced up. It was Claire Kendall’s phone. An unknown number flashed on the screen.

Claire Kendall pushed Miles Warren away. Thinking it was a customer from Moonstone, she immediately answered.

"Claire, it’s me, Jacob Sinclair."

"Something’s come up at the branch office, so I have to leave town for a while. I won’t be in Aethel, but I’ve already made things clear with Yvonne Warren. I broke off our engagement. We’re completely over..."

The familiar voice came through the earpiece, loud enough for Miles Warren to hear as well.

If she had known it was him, she never would have answered. Claire Kendall felt sick. Not wanting to listen to his nonsense, she scrambled to hang up.

But Miles Warren suddenly grabbed her wrist. The phone slipped from her grasp and fell onto the bed beside them.

The next second, Miles Warren lifted her up and pressed her down into the bed. She let out a muffled groan.

Jacob Sinclair’s anxious voice came from the phone.

"Claire! What’s wrong?"
