Tempting Him to Lose Control
Chapter 114: Dr. Warren, Please Control YourselfChapter 114: Chapter 114: Dr. Warren, Please Control Yourself
In the dim corridor, Ian Rhodes froze on the spot.
He watched the two of them leave, Miles Warren’s words echoing in his ears. His face was a mask of bewilderment and disbelief.
’Miles Warren waited ten years for her? So *I’m* the one who came later? How is that possible?’
「Regency Gardens.」
Claire Kendall clung to him like a koala, her head nestled in the crook of his neck. Her small hands were wrapped tightly around his neck, and she kept nuzzling against him.
"Dr. Warren, oh, Dr. Warren..."
Her words were laced with the heavy scent of cocktails. She was completely plastered.
Miles Warren gently pried her hands off, set her down on the sofa, and rolled up her sleeves. He checked her arms carefully, only relaxing after confirming she wasn’t having an allergic reaction.
He got up, went to the kitchen, and poured a glass of warm water, stirring in a few drops of honey.
"Drink this," he said, holding the glass to her lips.
Dazed, Claire Kendall pushed his hand away. "Don’t want to."
She blinked, her eyes holding a charming, drunken innocence. She reached out, poked Miles Warren’s lips, and declared with complete conviction.
"I want you to feed me like this!"
The man’s fingers, holding the glass, paused. His Adam’s apple bobbed uncontrollably.
"You don’t know how? Then I’ll teach you..." Claire Kendall took a sip of the honey water and wobbled up from the sofa, trying to press her lips against his, mumbling indistinctly.
"I’ll teach you..."
Afraid she would fall, Miles Warren steadied her but dodged her advancing lips. His voice was low, laced with a warning.
"Claire Kendall, stop messing around."
She pouted, and a little honey water trickled from her red lips. She blinked, her eyes welling up. "Miles Warren, you’re bullying me."
"You’re not being nice to me at all. I’m drunk, and you’re not even taking care of me."
"So you *do* know you’re drunk?" Miles Warren was so exasperated he had to laugh. He coaxed her patiently, "Go to sleep."
Miles Warren tried to carry her to the bedroom, but she slapped his hands away and shrank back.
"No! If you don’t wait on me, I’ll divorce you!"
Her voice wasn’t loud, just soft and lacking any real force.
But the word "divorce" cut like a knife.
Miles Warren’s eyes darkened instantly. He pinched her chin, forcing her to look up and meet his gaze.
"Claire Kendall, say that again."
She slurred her accusation, "I said, I want a divorce. I don’t want to be with you anymore..."
He remembered what he’d heard outside the private room.
That bright, clear declaration: "Being single is good."
Miles Warren closed his eyes. ’So she really does have this idea of pulling out and leaving at any time.’
His voice grew cold. "Claire Kendall, don’t forget what I said when we got our marriage license. I, Miles Warren, don’t do divorce. Only ’til death do us part... "
"What are you mumbling about? Kiss me!" Claire Kendall stood on her tiptoes, leaned in, and sealed Miles Warren’s lips with her own.
The alcohol had made Claire Kendall especially bold.
"Dr. Warren... no, no, it’s honey~"
Miles Warren turned the tables, taking the lead and correcting her "messy" kiss.
All his pent-up frustration and bitterness melted away into the kiss.
"Claire Kendall, I’ll ask you one more time. Is being single better, or is being married better?"
Her brain had completely shut down and couldn’t process the question. Watching Miles Warren’s lips move, she reached up and pressed her hand against them.
"Shh... Don’t say such useless things when we’re kissing..."
"Useless? Fine..." Miles Warren scooped her up, strode into the bedroom, and tossed her onto the bed.
"Is being single better, or being married?"
"Hm?" Claire Kendall tried to bat away the hand he had gripping her. "That hurts, be gentle!"
The bedroom light stayed on for a long time as the night outside grew deeper.
Claire Kendall, having been thoroughly taught a lesson, murmured, "Being married is better... yes, being married is better..."
"Honey, I already said it, being married is better!"
She whimpered, her voice growing softer and softer.
Miles Warren picked her up, carried her into the bathroom, and placed her in the tub. As the warm water enveloped her, she hummed contentedly.
He stared at her for a long time before repeating in a low, earnest voice.
"Claire Kendall, being single isn’t good. It’s not good at all."
...
The next morning, Claire Kendall groggily opened her eyes, her whole body aching.
She rubbed her lower back, which felt like it had been taken apart and put back together.
’Didn’t I go to a team-building event yesterday? Why do I feel like I went to a boxing match instead?’
She seemed to remember drinking a lot of sweet cocktails, and then Miles Warren came to pick her up.
After they got back to Regency Gardens, the scenes in her memory gradually became rather... indecent.
’Was I really that forward? It seems like I initiated everything!’
Claire Kendall’s face instantly burned hot, turning as red as a baboon’s behind.
The bedroom door was pushed open.
Miles Warren came in carrying a bed table in one hand and a tray of breakfast in the other.
He set up the table on the bed and placed the breakfast on it.
"Does your head hurt?"
Claire Kendall shook her head.
’My head doesn’t hurt, but *down there*...’
"Miles Warren, can’t you show a little restraint?"
After getting his first taste, the cold and abstinent Dr. Warren had vanished.
Miles Warren blew on the spoonful of congee and brought it to her lips. "You were the one who started it."
She found she couldn’t argue with that.
Her memories were fragmented and intermittent; she couldn’t recall many of the important details.
She opened her mouth and took the spoon, her eyes on his cool, handsome face. She asked tentatively, "Miles Warren, were you angry last night? It seems like you kept asking me a question."
She frowned. "But I can’t remember what it was."
Miles Warren looked down at her and offered another spoonful. "I wasn’t angry."
He paused.
"And there was no question. You’re misremembering."
Claire Kendall looked thoughtful, then nodded. "That’s true. Who would keep asking questions while doing... *that*? That’s just perverted."
Miles Warren: ...
After breakfast, Miles Warren cleared the table and then helped her comb her messy hair.
His movements were gentle, his fingers occasionally brushing the nape of her neck, making her tingle. The tangled, fluffy hair was slowly, comfortably untangled.
Claire Kendall closed her eyes, like a cat enjoying the utmost pampering.
"Dr. Warren," she said lazily, "aren’t you a neat freak? You don’t allow eating in the bedroom, let alone combing hair."
"Mm."
’What does ’Mm’ mean?’
Claire Kendall’s lips curved into a smile as she leaned against him. "Dr. Warren, I feel like you’re really, really into me right now, aren’t you?"
"No."
His reply was quick and firm.
Her back was to him, so Miles Warren didn’t see the smile on her lips slowly fade.
Hearing his words, Claire Kendall felt a pang of sourness and disappointment. She grumbled under her breath and didn’t pursue the topic.
"Go get washed up. I’ll drive you to the office."
"Huh? You’re driving me?" Claire Kendall was slightly taken aback.
"You don’t want me to?" Miles Warren’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Or are you afraid your little junior will see?"
