I walked on, my head held up high as I approached him.
I told myself I wasn’t going to think of the fact that I was naked.
I didn’t care anything the bastard thought.
In a blink of an eye, I snatched my dress and hurriedly put it over my head, concealing my nudity.
I immediately ironed out the imaginary lines on my dress and glared back at the sick man.
He was still there dumbstruck.
It gave me little glee to know that I had shocked him.
He thought that he could get a hold over me.
Threaten me.
I proved him dead wrong.
Immediately I walked to my horse even though I was still dripping wet from the lake.
I could his eyes boring into my back.
I ignored it hastily and hurried off to where my horse.
"Get the hell back." He snapped at me.
I ignored him as I climbed into my horse.
I looked over the pompous bastard that he was.
He stood in front of my horse, blocking my way.
I gave a laugh.
Did he really think that he standing in my way was going to stop me from moving.
In fact quite the contrary. I wanted nothing more than to run him over.
"Get the hell out of my way or you’re going to learn a lesson you will live to regret." I warned him.
"You used magic." He accused.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Not this again."
"I saw it with my own eyes." He insisted. "And if you don’t want me to go telling the authorities. I suggest you tell me the truth."
"I command you to tell me the truth." He growled in a cool and husky voice.
I knew already that he was using the influence of his wolf to control me.
"That doesn’t work on me." I shrugged.
He looked dumbfounded.
That pleased me.
"Try all the tricks in the books, nothing is going to work. I promise you." I nodded.
He looked frustrated. "No one disobeys the order of my wolf."
"Well... well.... Well... would you look at that. A girl in rags didn’t obey the order of the spoiled brat." I taunted him.
"Don’t push me. I’m not as gentle as you think." He warned.
"Look here pretty boy." I nodded at him. "Your threats are the least of my problems. In fact I thrive off of threats. You think I’m scared of you? Of anyone. Then you must know what’s coming. You have no idea who I am and what I can do. Stop following me around."
And with that I kicked my horse’s side and made a loud Hyah!
My horse went into motion and began racing ahead.
Pretty boy remained stupidly in place.
He really thought I wasn’t going to leave.
I rode on ahead heading forward towards him.
Wisely, he jumped to the side as I rode past him.
I looked back to see him fallen to the side.
I smiled triumphantly.
Stupid pretty boy.
He thought he was different from the lot.
A spoiled conceited bastard that thought he could get away with anything.
I turned ahead and rode in towards the pack house.
❧
Once I returned to the pack house, I hurried up the steps amidst the busy servants and guards.
I began to tremble in anxiety once I remembered that mother would be waiting for me.
Worried about me.
Memories of how she had flared up at me.
At how she the entire room had shaken when I had held Bale.
I chewed on my bottom lip.
I looked at my hands and admitted that I was cursed.
I remembered what the spoiled brat had said to me.
He was right.
Magic was prohibited.
I didn’t practice.
But my hands.
What I did.
How I healed injuries without ever knowing or understanding it.
How it just happened and put us all at the risk of danger.
And yet how cruel that when I had tried to heal father it had never worked.
Touching people who had cuts or any ailments were healed while my own father, I couldn’t.
He would hop around the house, a reminder of the curse that was placed on my head.
How if anyone discovered what I could do, I would be executed.
Not just me.
My father would be executed and so would mother.
I trembled in fear.
The sooner we found a way to end or suppress this, the better for us.
I breathed in heavily as I headed toward the doors of the room mother had been treating Bale.
Bale.
The first proper male wolf I had met, that I hadn’t gotten any radars from.
That seemed like a genuine person.
And yet somehow, he had turned out to be the Alpha’s son.
How twisted fate was.
The guards stood aside and opened the door for me.
I gently stepped into the room and swallowed.
The room no longer that hot and stiff smell it had initially.
A cool breeze blew through the room, giving the room a natural sweet smell of night.
The candles were lit and as I approached I noticed that mother was not anywhere in the room.
Rather it was just Bale laying on the bed.
I walked to the side of his bed and knew that the danger had gone.
I sighed heavily as I watched him sleep.
Whether I was the one who had healed him, I couldn’t tell.
I almost reached out to check his fever but recoiled instantly when I remembered the last time I had come in contact with him.
At that moment the doors were sprung open.
To my horror, none other than the spoiled brat from this morning and the lake came in.
The hairs on my back stood in alert and I felt an instant tense.
He didn’t see me as first and then immediately he did he paused.
His face went hard the moment he set eyes on me.
I knew it.
It was over for me.
