The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 106: Crystal Core SolutionChapter 106: Chapter 106: Crystal Core Solution
Kensington Base, Dragon Lake Villa Area.
After listening to Blake Blue’s account, the group exchanged glances. Miles Dawson couldn’t wait to tell everyone about their encounter with the mutant snake swarm at the water plant, albeit omitting a few details.
A lingering sense of dread settled over them. No one expected so many mutant animals to be active in such freezing weather.
Luna Dawson quickly took out two bottles of Crystal Core Solution, preparing to soak the shriveled Purple Bean from the cage. Suddenly remembering something, she took out several more bottles and placed them on the table, looking at everyone with a serious expression. Seeing her rare solemnity, the group knew she had something important to say, and their expressions grew grave in response.
"After ranking up, I can channel a portion of special Superpower Water every day," Luna explained. "I’ve discovered that once a Crystal Core is soaked in this water, the resulting liquid can rapidly restore superpower energy."
Luna glanced at Kevin Keane as she finished speaking.
Kevin caught her drift immediately. "I drank some today, and it’s truly miraculous. You guys can try a little, but we must keep this an absolute secret from outsiders."
Miles looked at Kevin in realization. "No wonder you suddenly went back to full health today after your superpowers were completely drained and you collapsed!"
The others eagerly picked up the bottles to taste it. The liquid had a faint milky-white hue, looking no different from the spirit spring water they usually drank. However, the moment it hit their stomachs, their nearly depleted superpower energy surged from their abdomens and spread throughout their entire bodies. Everyone instantly felt brimming with strength. Their eyes locked onto Luna like searchlights.
Blake held his bottle up to the light, studying it carefully. "This is exactly what Little Sweet Potato and that mutant bird were fighting over today."
Lynn Shelby’s gaze toward Luna grew even more profound. She had far too many secrets, and it felt like there would never be an end to discovering them.
Kevin caught his gaze instantly, shooting him a threatening look that clearly said, "What are you looking at?" Lynn found himself utterly speechless.
"So, everyone has to keep this a secret, okay?" Luna reminded them. "By the way, where is my Little Sweet Potato?"
The group nodded solemnly, their hearts surging with excitement. They all understood the importance of this water; it was basically a cheat code.
Snapping back to reality, Aaron Palmer hurried to the balcony and brought over a basin. Inside, Little Sweet Potato’s wrinkled body was soaking in water, its light purple leaves completely wilted. His tone was laced with heartache as he said, "Little Sweet Potato drained all its superpowers fighting that Third Rank mutant bird. It essentially dragged that bird down with it."
Luna quickly brought out a new basin, poured in the Crystal Core Solution, and gently placed Little Sweet Potato inside. She also soaked the Purple Bean in a cup of the Crystal Core Solution.
Within a few minutes, Little Sweet Potato absorbed enough water and regained its plump, lively appearance.
"Sister, I’m exhausted to death," it said.
"Be a good boy. Have a nice sleep," Luna replied gently.
She affectionately stroked its small leaves while everyone else gathered around to observe.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!" A childish voice suddenly echoed in a bizarre tone.
Everyone looked up toward the source of the sound at the top of the cage. To their astonishment, the Purple Bean had actually grown facial features. Its tiny, dark mouth opened and closed as it continuously called out, "Grandpa, Grandpa."
"It says, ’Protect Grandpa,’" Hector translated joyfully. "I finally heard you speak! You’re usually just snoring!"
Everyone fell silent.
"Grandpa!" the Purple Bean continued to chirp.
Hector translated, "It says, ’I need time to grow.’"
Evan Olson quickly got to the point. "Tell it to let go of the cage first."
Hector looked at the Purple Bean. After a moment, the Wisteria released its grip on the cage. Mimicking Little Sweet Potato’s earlier trick, the Purple Bean coiled itself into a dark purple bracelet and wrapped around Grandpa’s wrist.
On its quail egg-sized face, the tiny mouth opened and closed again. "Grandpa, Grandpa."
Evan and Wayne Dawson hurriedly helped Grandpa sit on the sofa.
Grandpa let out a hearty laugh. "I’m fine! Purple Bean wove a reclining chair for me inside the cage, so I’m not tired at all."
"It says it will protect Grandpa, and that Grandpa gave it sweet water to drink, so no one needs to worry," Hector added.
The group looked at Hector in wonder, then back at Grandpa.
"Didn’t it only say two words?" Miles asked suspiciously.
Hector blinked his large, innocent eyes at everyone. "But its meaning is that long."
"Grandpa!" This time, the word was clearly laced with excitement.
"It wants to stay with Grandpa. It says it loves Grandpa super much."
Aaron Palmer was utterly perplexed. "Do you only know how to pronounce ’Grandpa’?!"
"Grandpa, Grandpa."
"It says its evolutionary growth didn’t develop toward a language system," Hector translated.
Everyone was speechless once more.
Grandpa, however, was overjoyed. He felt as if he had personally grown a big grandson from scratch. He continuously rubbed the little Purple Bean affectionately. "Evan, you don’t need to bother me anymore. I have my little grandson to keep me company now," he said, his tone full of complaints directed at Evan.
Evan looked thoroughly embarrassed.
Miles burst into laughter. "HAHAHAHAHA! Brother Evan, Grandpa watered a bean brother for you!"
Mrs. Dawson slapped the back of Miles’s head. "Your bean brother protected the whole family, which makes it your brother too!"
Everyone’s faces flushed red with suppressed laughter, but no one dared to make a sound.
Lynn looked at Kevin with a smirk. "If you had kept singing to that soybean tree back then, you’d have a kid of your own by now."
Dark lines formed on Kevin’s forehead. That really wasn’t necessary.
Looking at Kevin’s slightly contorted expression, Aaron couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. Blake immediately clapped a hand over his mouth.
Mrs. Dawson’s sharp gaze immediately shot toward the rest of them. "And that goes for the rest of you! From now on, you are all its older brothers and sisters!"
Everyone instantly shut their mouths.
"Am I still the youngest, then?" Hector asked curiously.
Mrs. Dawson’s stern facade faltered. Seeing his sister’s expression shifting awkwardly, Wayne quickly chimed in, "It is your Uncle Bean."
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
The group couldn’t hold it back anymore and roared with laughter.
They had all been exhausted from the day’s events. After taking showers, Luna brought out some previously packaged stir-fries from her dimension. They had a simple meal and retired to their rooms early to rest. The Purple Bean extended a vine and hung it by Grandpa’s window, taking charge of the night watch.
Luna brought Rollo and Little Tiger into her dimension, gave the two little ones a thorough scrub, and fell asleep peacefully with them in her arms. This time, she planned to spend three full days inside the dimension eating, drinking, playing, and sleeping with the two little ones to properly relax!
After waking up, Luna was in an excellent mood. She generously carried a bucket and began watering the trees in the yard with the Second Order Crystal Core Solution.
Their previous trip had been highly rewarding. In just one day, the family had accumulated over a thousand First Rank Crystal Cores and more than two hundred Second Order Crystal Cores. This substantial harvest brought a bright smile to her face.
As the Crystal Core Solution slowly seeped into the soil, the trees—which had already sprouted quite a few new buds—began to shoot upward at a visible rate. The charred and withered bark gradually peeled away, revealing fresh, tender green underneath. Branches and leaves sprouted and unfurled wildly, and in the blink of an eye, the trees became astonishingly lush and verdant.
Seeing this, Luna poured two more scoops of the Crystal Core Solution, but this time, the trees didn’t react. Intrigued, she quickly set down the bucket and leaned in for a closer look.
The leaves of the tree were a perfectly symmetrical heart shape with soft edges, glowing with a translucent emerald green as if carved from jade. The distinct veins ran through them like woven gold threads, refracting a faint light.
A Bodhi Tree?
Luna wasn’t very knowledgeable about plants, so she couldn’t be certain.
The massive tree stood silently, as though it had been rooted there since the dawn of time. A faint halo lingered around it, radiating an aura of divinity and tranquility in all directions. Its reddish-brown bark was deeply but neatly furrowed. Unable to resist, Luna reached out to touch it. The texture felt warm and smooth, pulsing with a vibrant lifeforce that instantly dispelled the dimension’s lingering emptiness and chill.
Luna quickly sensed her dimension and instantly realized that the white mist at its distant edges had expanded outward by several kilometers. In the previously obscured areas, the sweeping silhouettes of endless mountain ranges had now emerged.
