The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 112: Everyone Ranked UpChapter 112: Chapter 112: Everyone Ranked Up
"I know, but I also want to work hard for the family. I don’t want to just lie around at home and be a freeloader every day."
"If it were just my sister and me facing the apocalypse, she’d definitely be just like your brother. This family couldn’t survive without a Superpower User; we wouldn’t even be able to scrape together the monthly management fees!" Miles Dawson actually used his brain to analyze the situation for once, speaking up for Shane Shaw.
Aaron Palmer looked at the bickering siblings. "We’re planning to take a trip to the Eighth District soon. If you guys are up for it, you can ask Luna if she wants to go with us. After all, you’ve been there with the combat squad and have experience. Going privately with us means we can also gather supplies."
Miles Dawson looked a bit surprised. "Are you sure my sister will agree? This is a matter of life and death."
Aaron Palmer gave Miles a look like he was looking at an absolute idiot. "Haven’t you noticed that your sister and Nancy Sullivan are always gossiping about us behind our backs?!"
Shane Shaw looked at Nancy Sullivan, utterly exasperated.
Nancy scratched her head awkwardly and muttered a weak retort, "No, we weren’t. The three of us were just praising how handsome you all are."
"Bullshit! You said my physique isn’t as good as Kevin Keane’s and Blake Blue’s. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life!" Aaron Palmer went straight for the jugular and immediately tried to take off his clothes to show off his body, but Shane hurriedly stopped him.
Miles rolled his eyes. Well, he knew his sister’s personality better than anyone!
Shane guiltily pulled his cardigan tighter around himself and sat up straight. Male rivalry was truly brutal. He spoke slowly, "Do you really think Luna will let us go with you guys?"
Miles crossed his arms and thought for a moment. "Hmm, just tell her that Tina is running out of food and we want to go collect some supplies."
Shane was shocked. "Mentioning Tina actually works?" He truly hadn’t expected this. He had originally thought his main advantage was having been in there before, hoping his experience would give him some leverage to negotiate forming a team.
Miles gave him a reassuring look. "I know my sister. If there were bombs in both a kindergarten and a petting zoo, and she could only save one, she’d rush to save the little animals without a second thought."
Aaron looked a bit guilty. "Yeah, Luna can definitely be a bit unhinged sometimes."
Shane Shaw was completely speechless.
"Careful, or I’ll tattle on you!" Nancy threatened.
"Don’t do that!"
"Traitor! This handsome guy is trying to help you!"
A brief silence fell over the room.
What Luna Dawson didn’t know was that the dog-walking quartet already had her completely figured out. Ever since Miles came home and mentioned that Tina seemed to have lost a bit of weight while Rollo was twice as fat as her, Luna’s heart had been aching terribly for the dog. Taking advantage of the situation, Aaron suggested they all go out together to gather supplies, and the matter was smoothly settled just like that.
With their departure for the Eighth District looming, everyone lost their usual playful energy. For the past two days, everyone in the villa had been training their superpowers even more diligently. Luna was no exception. She distributed the Crystal Cores needed to advance to the Third Rank to everyone, doing everything she could to lay a solid foundation for this expedition.
Luna entered her spatial domain and began an intense, secluded cultivation session. She glanced at Rollo, then decided to give him the mutated bird’s Third-order Crystal Core and three hundred Second Order wind-element Crystal Cores to see if he could achieve a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Little Sweet Potato and Little Tiger were lounging in a pile of Crystal Cores, diligently absorbing their energy.
Luna depleted her superpower over and over, rapidly replenishing it each time using the Crystal Core Solution in her space. She repeated this cycle until she was certain her superpower foundation was unshakeably solid, only then did she take out the giant snake’s Third-tier Water Element Crystal Core to begin absorbing it.
The absorption process lasted for nearly an hour. Luna maintained a focused and calm state until the superpower within her body had completely transformed, then she slowly opened her eyes. Seeing that the little guys were still obediently absorbing their cores, she vanished from her spot and reappeared beneath the Bodhi Tree, afraid of disturbing them.
With her physical body strengthened, she immediately channeled her spiritual power, clearly sensing that the coverage of her spiritual threads had expanded by another three hundred meters.
The majestic power surging through her entire body was a profound strength completely unattainable when she was at the Second Order. The defensive strength and duration of her water shield had doubled, while the power and sustainability of her Water Bombs had also vastly improved. Even more wonderfully, she could clearly capture the subtle rhythms of water molecules in the air. That sensation of fusing with the elements felt unfamiliar yet profound, giving her a much clearer and more intuitive control over her Water Ability.
It was worth noting that in her previous life, even up until her second year when she perished together with Susan Vaughn, she had only reached the Third Rank. Because she hadn’t been able to defeat High-level zombies back then, she’d been forced to painstakingly rely on endlessly stockpiling first-tier Crystal Cores to force her advancement. Her physical fitness and superpower pathways had been incredibly poor. It was a world of difference compared to her Third Rank in this life.
The night before they were set to leave for the Eighth District, having mastered her Third-tier Superpower, Luna exited her spatial domain before dinner. She stepped into the living room and was quite surprised to see Lynn Shelby and Aaron Palmer actually helping Wayne Dawson cook.
"Have you all leveled up?"
Lynn looked extremely smug, his eyes curving into smiles as he answered, "Of course. I am Lynn Shelby, after all."
Luna rolled her eyes at Peacock Shaw. "Where are the others?"
Aaron curled his lip, annoyed that they hadn’t waited for him. "Brother Evan and the others went to the Seventh District woods to train their superpowers."
"They’re trying that hard?!"
Wayne also sighed in amazement. "Those guys act like they don’t even need sleep. The Crystal Core Solution in the fridge has basically all been consumed by these youngsters."
"Alright, they’re all overachievers. This is my Superpower Water from after my advancement. It’ll have some special effects when you drink it. Make sure you strip naked and stand in the bathroom when you drink it tonight!"
After giving her serious instructions, Luna went back to restocking the fridge with spirit spring water and Crystal Core Solution, saving herself from having this bunch knock on her bedroom door eight hundred times a day!
"Holy shit! Isn’t this a must-have for the male lead in a novel?!" Aaron didn’t even bother eating dinner. He grabbed the water and headed straight back to his room.
Lynn watched him go. "Still young, always so impatient."
After the three of them busied themselves in the kitchen for a while, Evan Olson, Blake Blue, and Kevin Keane also returned. Following that, everyone who had finished leveling up came downstairs, each looking refreshed and energized.
Fortunately, Aaron Palmer still had some sense of shame, otherwise, he genuinely would have wanted to streak out and parade around!
He was wearing a light blue casual outfit similar to his usual style. His posture was as straight as a pine, and his tall height gave off a natural aura. He even rather ostentatiously ran his hand backward through his hair—a move that Luna would definitely have found incredibly greasy if anyone else had done it!
But Aaron didn’t look greasy at all. His large eyes were exceptionally bright, and his relaxed state smoothed out some of his usual sharp edges, adding a touch of lazy casualness. Most remarkably, his skin was incredibly fair, even, and translucent, rivaling the heavily retouched photos of celebrities.
Everyone stared at him like thousand-watt spotlights, their eyes filled with envy and jealousy!
"Damn it! Your level-up actually comes with this kind of effect?!" Miles jumped up. Usually, everyone was relatively on par, but now the gap was huge!
Kevin and Blake directly grabbed his face, getting so close they almost kissed him, their scrutinizing gazes carefully scanning his every pore. What was going on? They had only been out for a few hours, and this guy had completely transformed?!
Evan also marveled, "Leo really is different now."
"Luna! From now on, you are my one true god! Haha, I am the most handsome! From now on, I will be the dream of countless girls in the base!" Aaron frantically struggled out of the two men’s grip, his eyes practically shooting hearts as he tried to pounce toward Luna. However, Kevin grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and dragged him to the side to sit down.
He was quite handsome; it was just a pity he had to open his mouth.
Luna motioned with her eyes toward the water on the table and instructed, "This is my Superpower Water from my advancement. It purifies the marrow and cleanses the body. Everyone can try it after dinner, but make sure to go to the bathroom to drink it."
Everyone instantly understood.
The water was snatched up in seconds!
Consequently, everyone rushed through their dinner like they were in a battle, and in the end, Aaron Palmer was left all alone, happily cleaning up the mess...
