Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Hospital

Catching the sparkle in Nancy Sullivan’s eyes, Luna Dawson chuckled and quickly added, "Everyone’s Power Pool is only so big. If you focus your superpower practice on storing supplies, your offensive capabilities will naturally be weaker. The reverse is also true. Striking a balance between the two is something you have to decide for yourself during training."

As soon as she finished speaking, she swept her gaze over the crowd. Her tone grew more serious as she dropped the core information: "However, the capacity of a Power Pool will expand as your superpower level increases. If you want to truly manipulate energy freely, you must continuously improve your own strength.

"For Third-tier Superpower Users, as long as they undergo long-term training and pile up a sufficient number of Crystal Cores, basically anyone can successfully advance.

"But going from the Third Rank to the Fourth Rank is different. Not only does it require a massive amount of real combat to temper and polish your superpower, but it also depends on your innate talent. There are even some creatures that might remain stuck at the Third Rank for their entire lives."

Evan Olson and Miles Dawson exchanged a glance, their expressions calm and understanding.

They naturally knew that Luna could share such precise experience because she had lived an extra lifetime. These were precious insights accumulated through time and personal experience.

But to everyone else, these words were like a sudden clap of thunder!

Stuck at the Third Rank for an entire lifetime?!

The crowd instantly erupted into an uproar, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

Aaron Palmer stared blankly at Luna, his mind a chaotic mess.

Luna was usually the laziest! She almost never trained her superpower! Yet, this girl—who didn’t seem much different from them—could state the rules of superpower advancement with such certainty and summarize such profound experience. It left his heart churning with a complex mix of emotions.

Aaron couldn’t help but ask, "Luna, are you one of those naturally talented individuals?!"

Suppressing the shock in his heart, Shane Shaw quickly followed up, "Did you figure out all this experience regarding superpowers by yourself?"

Hearing this, Luna’s lips curled into a sly smile, and she playfully replied, "I haven’t been slacking off, you know. I’m always carefully pondering and using my brain to practice my superpower. It’s not just about talent."

On the other side, Kevin Keane gazed at Luna, his eyes profound.

He discreetly raised his eyes and exchanged a glance with Lynn Shelby beside him. Both of them simultaneously realized that Luna’s understanding of superpowers was far too detailed—so detailed that she could calculate exactly how many Crystal Cores were needed for each advancement without the slightest error. Her third superpower had to be precognition.

However, neither of them showed the slightest hint of anomaly on their faces. Regardless of how many superpowers Luna actually possessed, the only thing they needed to do right now was quietly run interference for her, guard this secret, and absolutely prevent anyone from coveting her abilities.

After delving deeper into the Ninth District, the off-road vehicle could no longer move forward when they were still two kilometers away from the hospital. The entire group had no choice but to get out. Luna waved her hand, storing the vehicle into her space.

Recalling the journey they had just taken, everyone still found it unbelievable. Whenever they encountered abandoned cars, fallen signboards, or cracked slate roads upheaved by thick tree roots along the way, Luna would simply use her spiritual power to cover a ten-square-meter radius and stow all the obstacles into her space. She had forcibly carved out a smooth path through the chaotic ruins, leading straight from the Eighth District to the Ninth District!

Nancy couldn’t help but exclaim in awe, "Luna! You’re my idol from now on!"

Shane stood to the side, feeling equally astounded. This trip had completely opened his eyes. So Space Abilities could be used externally like this. So one didn’t even need to get out of the car to collect supplies; it could be effortlessly handled with just spiritual power alone.

Amidst their ongoing conversation about superpowers, the group set off on foot toward the hospital.

Meanwhile, inside the hospital building.

A group of people was being chased around the emergency building by zombies in white coats, scattering in all directions. Two individuals in camouflage combat suits led the way, swinging their daggers with fierce momentum. Guided by a hospital floor plan in their hands, they were desperately trying to run toward the International Medical Department. However, it was glaringly obvious that no matter where they ran, the hospital was crawling with zombies.

"URGH!"

"ROAR!"

A young, blond, and blue-eyed foreign man in a hospital gown lunged toward the crowd emerging from the corner, his height awkwardly fluctuating between six-foot-three and five-foot-seven as he moved. The zombie’s left leg was fractured, with the pale tibia piercing straight through his hospital pants. Using his knee and a layer of rotting flesh as a pivot point, he sprinted wildly, his severed lower leg flailing about. Thick blood went DRIP DRIP DRIP onto the floor with his every movement.

Just as he reached out to grab the young woman running at the very back of the group, a military knife plunged into his skull through his temple with a sickening SQUELCH.

CRACK!

The blade pried at the skull, flipping out a Crystal Core. As the dagger was yanked back, the Crystal Core was fully extracted. The tall male zombie instantly lost all momentum and smashed heavily against the ground.

While the group was fighting off the undead, a plump man crashed into a hospital bed. He trembled in pain and fell to the floor with a THUD, watching helplessly as the patient zombies closed in on him. Without a moment’s hesitation, he grabbed the frail girl next to him and shoved her behind the bed to block the oncoming zombies.

"AHHH!"

"ROAR!"

The elderly zombie leading the pack lunged forward and successfully sank its teeth into the girl. She instinctively raised her arm to block it, but the old woman’s wrinkled lips clamped down on her down jacket, thrashing wildly from side to side in a desperate attempt to tear off a huge chunk of flesh.

"Ah! Ah! Help!" The girl’s terrified cries echoed throughout the entire floor.

"Cindy!" Hearing her voice, a man guarding the rear immediately pushed through the crowd and rushed to the girl’s side.

His eyes ablaze with fury, he swung a fire ax and hacked at the wrinkled face of the elderly zombie. He was incredibly fast. Just as the zombie lifted its head, intending to change its angle to bite the girl, half of its skull was cleaved off by the man’s ax. The immense force squeezed two grayish-white eyeballs out of their sockets, launching them against the wall and adding another vibrant splash of color to the surface.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the man who had just pushed the girl away scrambled toward Ron Rivers.

Penny Page didn’t even care about the fleeing man. He hurriedly pulled the girl up. "Cindy! Are you okay?" He was already terrified of the zombies catching up, which was why he and the two soldiers had stayed behind to guard the rear and buy time for the people ahead. He never expected that someone would actually use his girlfriend as a human shield against the zombies!

"I... I... I don’t know!" Cindy Sterling gripped the man’s arm as if she had suddenly found her pillar of support, leaning against him in terror.

"Never mind that, just keep running forward! The skybridge is just ahead!" Penny dragged her along to catch up with the advancing group. They accelerated toward the International Department. As long as they made it across and closed the skybridge doors, they could block the zombie horde from the emergency building.

But when they reached the end of the skybridge, they discovered that the metal doors were locked!

The two soldiers guarding the rear yanked frantically at the skybridge doors, but they wouldn’t budge. Meanwhile, the horde of zombies chasing their fresh prey packed together like sardines, forming a writhing ball of undead at the entrance as they desperately surged into the corridor!

Hungry!

So hungry!

Right in front of them was a feast of fresh, juicy food!

"ROAR!"

"URGH!"

Just as the group was about to be cornered with nowhere left to run, they saw a figure in a purple winter coat riding a ten-foot-tall, giant golden pig appear behind the glass roof of the skybridge!

That splash of color was truly eye-catching!
