Kate’s Point of View

"How are you feeling? Is your head still hurting?" Ethan asked for the tenth time. After I asked my parents what was going on, they told me that we would talk about it once we were home. I agreed. It was better to talk at the house.

I ended up riding back to the packhouse with Ethan and Nathan in Nathan’s BMW. Nathan was driving while Ethan sat in the back with me. I could tell they were both worried about me. Ethan kept asking me if I felt alright while Nathan kept looking at me through the rearview mirror.

The pain is gone. " I feel fine," I replied

"Maybe we should take you to the Doctor just to make sure you are okay," Ethan said

"No, I am fine," I replied

Once we made it to the packhouse, we headed inside.

"I will be right up in a minute," Nathan said

"Okay," I replied, and Ethan and I went up to my parents’ room. Rose and Derek were there as well. We all sat in the family room to talk. I could tell my parents were nervous by their facial expressions.

"Kate, there is something me and your mom had to tell you," my dad said. Ethan held onto my hand as they spoke.

"What is it, Mom, Dad. You are scaring me," I said, and Ethan tightened his grip on my hand. Not too much so that he would hurt me, just to show me he was there.

"Kate. There is something we need to tell you. First, we want you to know that we love you very much. Everything we did was because we love you," my mom said

"What did you do?" I asked worriedly. I knew whatever it was must have been bad.

My parents were silent for a moment. They both looked at each other and then my dad spoke

"We um, when you were born something happened. You stopped breathing and your heard stopped completely. You mom and I were devastated. This man came to our room and told us that he could bring you back and he did. We were so happy when you started crying. We thought that we had lost you forever," My dad said

"So I basically died and some guy brought me back to life," I said

"Yes," my mom replied. That worried me.

"And what did he want in return," I asked

"Nothing," My parents said at the same time

"Nothing. So he just did it to be nice," I asked

"Yes," My mom said

I looked at everyone in the room. Everyone had a smile on their faces. "We believe that is the reason you have these abilities. I don’t know why they just appeared exactly but it is probably because your birthday is coming up soon."

"I guess," I replied

"Don’t worry, Sweetie, We will figure it out," My mom said

Nathan walked into the room with Dr Sally.

"Hey, Kate. Alpha Nathan asked me to check on you. I heard about what happened today," Dr. Sally said and I glared at Nathan who was staring at me with a blank expression

I sighed knowing that I wasn’t going to be able to argue. "Okay, Fine, but I am okay," I said.

"How about you go to your room so that she can check you up?" Ethan said

"Okay," I replied and I got up from the couch. Rose got up as well.

"I am going to go with you," Rose said

"Okay," I replied

I was shocked about the conversation I just had with my parents. I had a feeling they weren’t telling me everything. I was sure they were keeping something out.

Ethan’s Point of View

"Did you tell her?" Nathan asked as he sat next to me

"Yes," Lisa said

"No, you didn’t tell her everything. You lied and said that the man didn’t want anything in return for bringing her back to life," I replied

"What? You lied to her?" Nathan said

"No, we didn’t lie. We just kept that out. She doesn’t need to worry because none of us are going to let him get her. Unless I can’t count on you to protect her," Michael said

"Of course you can," Nathan said

"The thing is that she deserve to know the truth," I said

"Then why didn’t you tell her when we kept that part out. You stayed silent. You know that I am right. You don’t want her to worry just like we don’t," Michael said and I sighed. He was right. I didn’t want Kate to worry about anything.

"We will protect her with our lives. We want to stay with her. Whether it is here or in our pack. It is easier for us to keep her safe. Plus, Kate wouldn’t tell you this but she feels better when she is around us. She can’t sleep without us. you know I am right. It would be hard for you to be away from each other," Nathan said

"We know. If Kate agrees then you can stay here with her and she can go to your pack and stay with you," Michael said.
