Amy’s POV

For the longest time, it had always been just Amy and Vivian leaning on each other for support. No one else, just the two of them.

Even when her friend had been with that good for nothing Bryce, that had still been the case, with Vivian relying more on Amy than on that man. Which, given that he had been nothing more than a pest, made a lot of sense.

Now though things were different.

It was no longer just the two of them braving the storms of the world together and hoping for the best.

That was a development that Amy was very much in favour of. But as happy as she was that they now had other people that they could count on, she had to admit that she was also feeling a little bit sad. As untrue as the logical side of her mind knew it was, a part of Amy felt like she was losing her best friend.

Like now that Vivian had Ryan, she would no longer be needing Amy. It was ridiculous, she had Mark now too. But just because she had the man, it did not mean she would be abandoning Vivian, still she could not get over the irrational fear, or her friend cutting her off.

The part of her that was scared that Vivian would leave her for good was not happy at all to watch her friend get ready to get on a boat with Ryan Terrell. That irrational side of her felt like the moment that Vivian got on the yacht, Amy would never see her again. That Ryan would hide her away and never share her with Amy again.

It was almost sunset, and yet the two of them were intent on heading out. Why the couple was so happy to be going to do some nighttime snorkeling Amy had no idea.

To her, all that mattered was that barely a few hours into being married and Ryan Terrell was already taking her best friend away from her. Resisting the urge to grab Vivian and make a run for it was really hard. Where they would go seeing as they were on an island, she had no idea. But running seemed tempting.

Instead of giving to that ill-advised idea Amy forced herself to stay on one spot and smile as she and Vivian said their goodbyes, ( her decision not to run was mostly because Vivian would not go along with her though, not because her idea was crazy).

"Have fun out there and also have a lot of baby making sex, okay?" She said, trying to use humor to hide her unease. Vivian lightly smacked her on the arm for that.

"Amy, boundaries," The other woman said, but then in the next instant she smiled impishly.

"Thank you for that advice. We will definitely be taking it," Laughing softly, Amy stared out at the waters, the way that the fading sunlight was reflected in the small waves was really something. So busy staring at the water she forgot to school her features into an expression that was cheerful and Vivian immediately noticed.

"All right, out with it, what is eating away at you? You were not like this when we were having the reception and dancing to our hearts’ content. So why do you suddenly look so down?" For a moment Amy considered lying to her friend and saying that she was just thinking about some work stuff. But meeting Vivian’s worried grey eyes she found herself unable to lie. Looking over at the men, who were playfully wrestling each other, she turned her attention back to Vivian, tears streaming down her face as she begged her voice a near whisper.

"Please don’t leave me,"

"Leave you, Amy, what are you on about? Ryan and I are going snorkeling near a tiny barrier island not too far from here. We will be back tomorrow morning," Shaking her head Amy angrily wiped her tears away.

"Not the snorkeling bit. I mean after we return to the mainland, you are going to leave me behind, find rich friends who snort caviar and decide that I am really not worth it," Before Amy could say anything more about Vivian’s future friends, she cut herself off, yelping loudly as words fled her mind due to pain.

"Ow!" She cried. Looking down at her arm, she saw the forming red mark and turned her attention back to her friend.

"Did you just pinch me?" Immediately getting her revenge, Amy pinched Vivian right back and the other woman yelped too. Then she flicked Amy and of course Amy had to flick her back. Back and forth they went, both of them flicking away and yelping like little kids.

Somehow the flicking fight ended with the two of them hugging tightly and crying.

"There is no way I would ever leave you for people who snort caviar. Not only is that stuff disgusting. You are my best friend forever and ever. Even if we are to be reborn as mortal enemies, we will still be best friends. Even if I get rich enough to buy entire galaxies, you and I will still be best friends. No matter what, we will always be Vivian and Amy first. The rest is unimportant," Stepping back, Amy sniffled loudly.

"Do you really mean it?" She asked and Vivian nodded. "I would not say it if I did not," Knowing that her friend was telling the truth, Amy nodded.

"Good, if you had abandoned me for stuck up rich folks it would have been your loss. I am the greatest best friend to ever exist, and you choosing to never leave me shows that you have really great taste," With that Amy threw herself at her for yet another hug. Her worries of being abandoned, completely forgotten, thanks to Vivian’s reassurance. Even if her friend was now a married woman, and Amy had her own relationship with Mark to deal with, they would always be best friends.
