The Decaying World

Chapter 420 - 403: New Faction

Lin Hui had long wanted to explore what the Blood Seal truly required as its essence.

For he had discovered that although the Blood Seal was supposedly absorbing his vitality and Heart and Spirit, he never actually felt any different in his daily life.

It was as if nothing had been absorbed, with no discernible difference.

Now that Fusheng had brought it up, he was motivated to investigate the matter thoroughly.

"I’ll look into that question later. For now, why don’t you tell me where I can find that kind of Treasure Medicine?"

"Alright... According to my experience from many, many years ago, places that produce this kind of vitality Treasure Medicine are often a Realm of Extreme Yin. Hmm... Once you leave the Black Domain, try going here."

Fusheng suddenly flicked his finger, sending a wisp of invisible fluctuation into the skin on the back of Lin Hui’s hand.

The fluctuation quickly transformed into a set of coordinates.

"Navigation in the Black Domain is very difficult because there are no fixed, permanent reference points. So, we usually leave behind a trace of our own aura as a marker to guide our return. This is a vast world where I once left such a marker. That place... hmmm, it’s quite something. The Realm is immense; you’ll definitely be able to find what you’re looking for. It’s just... so many years have passed. I have no idea how things might have changed, so be careful," Fusheng said simply.

"When you say ’back then,’ Senior, how many years ago was that, may I ask?" Lin Hui felt something wasn’t right.

"About... a hundred thousand years or so?" Fusheng gave a dry laugh.

"..." Lin Hui was speechless. What could he say to an old fellow who had been locked up in the Heart Source Demon Palace for so long?

After all, it wasn’t his fault his information was outdated.

He sensed the faint wisp of aura. He gave Fusheng a fist-and-palm salute, then looked at the Heavenly Demon on his shoulder.

"Heavenly Demon, guard this place for me. Don’t let any outsiders wander in."

"Ababababa!" The formless Heavenly Demon nodded quickly, accepting the task.

Lin Hui had it jump off his shoulder, took one last look at the Demon Palace before him, then turned and strode out the gate.

This time, he didn’t even bring Ruyi, leaving completely empty-handed.

After a series of cracks and jagged edges had appeared on it, Ruyi was no longer really fit for use. As for the Tai Chi Divine Sword, it possessed special abilities and wasn’t a weapon that could be used at will.

Conveniently, he was planning to go to a new place and find a good, suitable weapon, and he didn’t want it to take up a slot in the Blood Seal.

FWOOSH!

A white shadow flashed. In an instant, he left the Sea of Consciousness and returned to the Black Domain Void.

In the Void, on the outskirts of the Human Realm, a small, irregularly shaped floating island was drifting.

This was a fragment Lin Hui had selected from the surrounding debris and pulled over to the edge of the Human Realm to serve as a place for his two disciples to live and cultivate in the future.

Liu Xuezhen and Wu Anning’s current strength was far from sufficient to observe the Human Realm’s overall situation.

So Lin Hui casually left a pile of living supplies and tools on the floating island.

Then he asked his master to occasionally check in on them. After all, as his disciples, they were indirectly members of the Jiuxiao Sect and could be considered Qimei’s grand-disciples.

Qimei readily agreed.

He just told Lin Hui that the understanding he had previously acquired would sustain him for about a thousand years. If Lin Hui hadn’t returned by then, he would have to leave to harvest new understanding, and he would no longer be able to look after the two disciples.

Lin Hui naturally agreed. If the two of them couldn’t achieve anything significant in a thousand years, then practicing for any longer would be of little use.

He had left them a complete, step-by-step Cultivation Method, and had also given them the Destruction Eye to guarantee their survival.

The Destruction Eye had an excellent advantage: it could activate passively.

In other words, if they suffered a fatal injury without realizing their true condition, the Destruction Eye would automatically reconstruct their bodies and Heart and Spirit after one day, as long as their eyes were undamaged. It would restore them completely.

Of course, Lin Hui didn’t tell them about this ace in the hole, lest they rely on it to go looking for trouble.

After settling the two of them, he immediately looked out at the Black Domain Void.

The distant, empty Black Domain seemed to contain nothing but the nearby Human Realm and the Celestial Realm, which was currently being sealed and broken down.

But he knew that this was only because countless worlds were obscured and submerged by the Black Domain.

He focused his mind and activated the wisp of aura Fusheng had given him.

HSSS.

Instantly, a faint point of red light appeared in the distant Black Domain, as if guiding him toward it.

’If I just fly there directly, it would be far too slow, even at my speed.’ Lin Hui had a basic understanding of physics. The distances between stars in the universe were measured in billions of kilometers. He could fly hundreds or even thousands of kilometers in an instant, but faced with a distance of this magnitude, it would still take an extremely long time.

’Looks like I’ll have to use the same method as last time to cross the distance directly. The Underworld Aperture was a good method.’

’By using the connection between worlds, I could not only travel faster but also slip in unnoticed, avoiding a large-scale defensive reaction from the Realm’s experts.’

Lin Hui floated in the Black Domain, recalling how he had arrived here after entering the Underworld Aperture last time.

At his level, he had what was essentially a photographic memory. His understanding of various Martial Arts and phenomena was also far deeper and more powerful than that of an ordinary person.

His incredibly vast Heart and Spirit allowed for an all-encompassing perception, processing a massive amount of information.

After just over ten minutes of contemplation, Lin Hui recalled the entire process after entering the Underworld Aperture.

’First, I need to store my physical body... moving with only my Heart and Spirit, consciousness, and soul will be much faster. Then... establish a connection... through the Sea of Consciousness... I can essentially simulate my previous journey...’

This time, there was no Underworld Aperture to connect him to his destination, but he could simulate the process using the Sea of Consciousness, which was already linked to countless worlds.

Lin Hui also recalled how the Wind Calamity and star energy had traversed vast distances to reach him in an incredibly short time.

He had always been exposed to this kind of superluminal travel, always observing it, but only now was he integrating those observations into his own understanding.

This was the first time he was creating a Secret Technique entirely on his own, without relying on the Blood Seal.

Thanks to his vast accumulation of knowledge, he encountered no bottlenecks or obstacles. It only took him half an hour.

A hyperspace displacement Dharma Gate was freshly minted.

First, he would locate the destination with his Heart and Spirit, then link to it. After finding the position in the Sea of Consciousness, he would reverse the process to emerge into the physical reality on the other side.

Afterward, he would sense and summon the Heart Source Demon Palace to fly over, allowing him to retrieve his physical body and be fully restored. This was the complete process of Lin Hui’s new Secret Technique.

’Might as well try it.’ With the Destruction Eye, he couldn’t be killed anyway.

Lin Hui quickly sent his Heart and Spirit back to the Heart Source Demon Palace and stored his physical body within the Destruction Eye. He then located the world Fusheng had shown him within the Sea of Consciousness.

In the Sea of Consciousness, a tiny distance could correspond to the gap between two different worlds in reality. Following this principle, it could be used as a gateway for spatial jumps.

The positioning was quite simple. After a few moments, Lin Hui identified a specific direction within the boundless purple mist. His Heart and Spirit immediately shot out, flying at extreme speed toward that direction, and activated his newly minted hyperspace displacement Secret Technique along the way.

SWOOSH!

A silver light shot out from the Demon Palace, streaking through layers of purple mist before vanishing.

This time, he would find his own path, forging his own direction and hope.

The path of the Fusion Sect might just lead to success after all!

In a daze, Lin Hui heard people talking.

"In the ruins, only those who remember kindness can illuminate the future and protect the light. When the boundless shadows invade the galaxy, the awakening of the Endless Divine Race is humanity’s last hope against the Outer Gods."

"But with each cycle of reincarnation, they’ve grown colder and more indifferent. In the future... they might one day..." another worried voice said lowly.

"No, they absolutely won’t. The Endless Divine Race has a duty to maintain reality. The shadow invasion from the Outer Realm is ceaseless. As long as the shadows exist, they will never abandon reincarnation!"

The voices gradually faded.

Lin Hui’s Heart and Spirit was merely passing through and had temporarily picked up fragments of a conversation.

Before he could ponder the information he’d just heard, a familiar crushing sensation pulled him from his ethereal state of Heart and Spirit back into reality.

"He’s out! He’s finally out! Congratulations, Madam, it’s a healthy boy!" a weary female voice said in Lin Hui’s ear.

"Th... thank you..." a weak female voice replied.

When Lin Hui opened his eyes again, he saw an azure ceiling that spiraled like soft-serve ice cream.

The place resembled a cathedral-like hospital. Several women dressed like medical staff bustled around him and the woman beside him.

He had successfully infiltrated this world, his Heart and Spirit taking over and gaining him a new body.

The body should have been stillborn, but Lin Hui’s Heart and Spirit had forcibly activated its instincts and restored it to health.

This led the surrounding medical staff to proclaim it a miracle.

Lin Hui’s eyes widened as he watched a massive, triangular silver spaceship slowly fly past the window.

VWOOM!

In the blink of an eye, the spaceship turned into a streak of golden light and vanished over the horizon. It moved so fast that even Lin Hui couldn’t track it. He could only sense a brief, terrifyingly immense burst of compressed energy being released directionally. It twisted and tore through space, allowing the ship to instantly enter another Realm.

’This place... It seems the Energy Level is indeed very high...’

Not long after his birth, Lin Hui learned the specific details of his new surroundings.

The sheer scale of this world far exceeded his expectations. It was countless times larger than both the Fog People World and the Republican Era world he had known.

The humans of this world had long since left their planet, embarking on a cosmic journey to conquer star systems.

In the beginning, the human fleet continuously developed planets and claimed territory, encountering no opposition.

But as time passed and their technology reached a certain level, they discovered a powerful energy source called Psionic Energy.

At first, this energy fueled rapid development in every human sector, propelling their civilization forward by another great leap.

But the good times didn’t last. The true drawback of Psionic Energy was only just beginning to reveal itself.

The widespread use of this strange power eventually attracted its true master: an Outer God, the Ghostly Stone Swallow.

This massive Outer God resided in the even more distant Outer Realm and could not arrive in person, but it could constantly dispatch countless minions to attack and destroy the human Star Realm.

Humanity was completely defenseless against the Ghostly Stone Swallow’s incursions; the gap in their Energy Levels was simply too vast. Star systems suffered heavy losses, territory shrank at an alarming rate, and planet after planet was turned into a dead zone.

It was then that a powerful, hidden faction within humanity—the Endless Divine Race—made their move.

They were exceptionally powerful, and in a very short time, they crushed a large number of the Ghostly Stone Swallow’s minions and saved the remnants of human territory.

But the Ghostly Stone Swallow was not the only Outer God attracted by Psionic Energy. There was a second: the Resentful Ancestor Dragon.

And so, even more shadow-psionic monsters were now poised to invade human territory at any moment, bringing slaughter, destruction, and ruin.

With their technological weapons rendered completely ineffective, humanity was forced to restructure its society. On the surface, it remained a technological civilization, but in the shadows, it was rebuilt around the Endless Divine Race.

And this place, this civilized planet, was called Red Pattern Star.
