Chapter 119: Chapter 119: The Six Who Transcended
For several minutes, the reports continued.
The atmosphere remained solemn as each division presented its findings, while Vhan and Vince carefully recorded the information that would later be reviewed in greater detail. The members of the Eclipsed Order listened without interruption, their attention never leaving the people standing at the center of the chamber.
Eventually, however, Ares slowly rose from his throne.
The movement was simple.
Yet the moment he stood, every conversation ceased.
Hundreds of eyes turned toward him.
The vast throne chamber, which only moments ago had been filled with the quiet exchange of reports, became completely still. Even the members standing at the farthest end of the hall remained motionless, their attention fixed entirely upon the figure standing above them.
Ares looked across the chamber.
For a brief moment, he said nothing.
This is a lot of people.
He kept that thought to himself.
From the outside, his expression remained calm, almost detached.
Inside, however, he was carefully choosing his words.
I can’t exactly stand here and say, "Good job, everyone. Here’s some power."
That would completely ruin the atmosphere.
He rested one hand against the side of his robe before finally speaking.
"Today was not merely a gathering."
His voice carried clearly throughout the chamber.
"It was not called so that I could simply listen to reports and send everyone back to their respective duties."
The members remained completely silent.
Ares slowly looked from one division to another.
"Everything that Eclipse has accomplished until this point was built through the efforts of every person standing here. Some of you have fought on the front lines. Others have gathered information, protected our territories, managed our resources, or supported those who carry out our operations."
His expression became slightly more serious.
"None of those contributions are insignificant."
He paused.
"The strength of Eclipse does not come from one person alone. It is built from every hand that works beneath its shadow."
The words settled over the chamber.
Ares continued.
"You have carried out your responsibilities without hesitation. You have continued moving forward even when the enemy changed its methods, concealed its traces, and began preparing for our arrival."
His gaze passed over the Four Black Roses.
Then the Seven Crowns.
Then the Ten Reapers.
"And because of that..."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"I have decided that your efforts should be answered with something more than words."
The atmosphere changed.
Several members exchanged brief glances.
Vhan’s expression became slightly more focused.
Vince straightened.
Aurora’s eyes narrowed faintly.
Even the normally composed members of the Ten Reapers appeared more attentive.
Ares raised one hand.
"Today, you will witness another evolution of Eclipse."
Silence.
"For those who have carried its name, defended its purpose, and continued to advance despite everything standing against you, I will grant you power worthy of the positions you hold."
His voice remained calm.
"But understand this."
The Eclipse surrounding his body began to stir.
"Power is not a reward to be admired."
A faint pressure spread through the chamber.
"It is a responsibility."
The members lowered their heads slightly.
Ares looked toward the first group.
"So I will begin with those who have stood closest to me since the early days of this organization."
His gaze settled on Vhan.
"The Eclipse’s Hand."
Vhan stepped forward.
Ares looked directly at him.
"Vhan."
Vhan lowered his head.
"Great Eclipse."
"You were among the first to carry Eclipse’s will beyond this headquarters. You have fought when fighting was necessary, remained patient when patience was required, and continued serving the organization without seeking recognition for yourself."
Vhan’s expression remained composed, but his eyes showed that he understood the weight behind those words.
Ares continued.
"Your loyalty has never wavered."
He extended his hand.
"For everything you have given to Eclipse, I will give you a power worthy of the position you carry."
The chamber became even quieter.
"From this day forward, you shall bear the title..."
Ares paused.
"The Shadow Hound."
Vhan’s eyes widened slightly.
Ares continued.
"A hound does not need to stand beneath the light to protect what it has been entrusted with. It follows the scent of its prey through darkness, crosses whatever distance separates it from its target, and does not abandon the hunt once it has begun."
His gaze sharpened.
"That is what I expect from you."
Vhan lowered his head.
"I understand."
Ares raised his hand toward him.
"And with that title, I grant you the authority of the Primordial Dragon."
The moment the words were spoken—
BOOOOOOM!
A tremendous pressure erupted from Ares’s hand.
A stream of black-and-white Eclipse energy surged forward and entered Vhan’s body.
The floor beneath him cracked.
A violent gust swept across the chamber, forcing the robes of the nearby members to flutter.
Vhan’s body suddenly stiffened.
His eyes widened.
The energy coursing through him was unlike anything he had experienced before.
It wasn’t simply mana.
It was an authority.
Something ancient.
Something that felt as though it had existed long before the kingdoms, long before the current civilizations, perhaps even before the systems by which the world itself was understood.
Vhan’s silver hair rose as the pressure around him intensified.
His aura erupted outward.
BOOM!
The stone beneath his feet fractured further.
Several members instinctively took a step back.
Vhan gritted his teeth as the authority continued pouring into his body.
His bones felt as though they were being reforged.
His muscles tightened.
His mana channels expanded.
And beneath all of it, something deeper was changing.
His very existence was being pushed beyond the boundary it had previously reached.
A pair of enormous golden eyes seemed to appear behind him for a brief moment.
The silhouette of a colossal dragon emerged from the Eclipse surrounding his body.
It was there for only an instant.
Then it vanished.
The pressure suddenly disappeared.
Vhan remained standing.
His breathing was heavier than before.
He slowly opened his hand.
Golden-black energy gathered around his fingers.
Vhan stared at it.
He could feel the difference.
His strength had not merely increased.
The limit he had once considered absolute no longer existed.
He had crossed another boundary.
He looked toward Ares.
There was genuine astonishment in his eyes.
Then, slowly, a smile appeared.
"Master, The Great Eclipse..."
He clenched his hand.
"I can feel it."
His voice carried a restrained excitement.
"This power is completely different from anything I possessed before."
Ares nodded.
"It is the authority of a Primordial Dragon. You will need time to fully master it."
Vhan lowered himself onto one knee.
"I will not waste it."
His gaze remained fixed upon Ares.
"Thank you, Great Eclipse. I have devoted my strength to this organization from the moment you gave me a purpose. To receive another power from you is an honor I will carry with me for the rest of my existence."
His eyes held something deeper than simple gratitude.
To Vhan, the being standing before him was not merely his master.
Ares was the source from which his current existence had evolved.
The one who had taken him beyond the limits he had once accepted.
Vhan lowered his head.
"I swear that the Shadow Hound will never turn its fangs away from the enemies of Eclipse."
Ares gave a faint smile.
"Rise."
Vhan stood.
Ares then looked toward the second member of the Eclipse’s Hand.
"Vince."
Vince stepped forward immediately.
"Great Eclipse."
"You have served Eclipse through information, strategy, and action. You have remained beside Vhan and carried responsibilities that often required you to think beyond the immediate battle."
Vince listened without moving.
Ares continued.
"You understand that an enemy does not always need to be defeated by force. Sometimes it is enough to understand where it will move before it realizes that it has been observed."
Ares extended his hand.
"That is why your title shall be..."
He paused.
"The Ghost Hound."
Vince’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"A ghost does not announce its presence."
Ares’s voice remained calm.
"It moves unseen, reaches places others cannot, and leaves nothing behind except the knowledge that it was there."
He looked directly at Vince.
"That is the role I expect you to fulfill."
Vince bowed.
"I accept."
Ares raised his hand.
"And with that title, I grant you the authority of the Leviathan."
The chamber trembled.
BOOOOOOM!
An immense pressure descended.
Unlike Vhan’s authority, this power carried the sensation of something vast and ancient moving beneath an endless ocean.
Vince’s body was immediately surrounded by deep blue Eclipse energy.
The pressure expanded outward.
Several members felt their breathing become heavier.
Vince remained motionless.
Water-like energy began circulating around his body, although there was no water within the chamber.
His mana surged.
His body underwent the same transformation Vhan had experienced.
His existence was being pushed beyond its previous boundary.
The aura surrounding him became deeper and denser.
Then—
CRAAAAASH!
A wave of magical pressure exploded outward.
Vince’s eyes opened.
For a brief moment, they carried the cold, overwhelming depth of the sea.
The Leviathan Authority settled within him.
Vince looked at his hands.
A faint blue glow moved across his fingers.
He smiled.
"I understand."
He turned toward Ares.
"This authority is immense."
"It is."
Ares nodded.
"Do not mistake its size for simplicity. The greater the authority, the greater the control required to use it properly."
"I understand, Great Eclipse."
Vince lowered himself onto one knee.
"You have given me more than strength. You have given me another reason to ensure that Eclipse’s enemies never discover where we truly stand."
He bowed his head.
"The Ghost Hound will remain unseen until the moment it is time to strike."
Ares nodded.
"Rise."
Vince stood beside Vhan.
The two members of the Eclipse’s Hand now possessed powers that surpassed their previous limits.
But Ares was not finished.
His gaze moved toward the Four Black Roses.
"Next..."
The four women stepped forward together.
Aurora stood at the front.
Herrera beside her.
Octavia and Leonora followed.
Ares looked at them for several moments.
"The Four Black Roses have carried some of Eclipse’s most difficult responsibilities."
His voice became slightly more solemn.
"You have faced enemies stronger than yourselves, operated beyond the reach of ordinary forces, and protected the organization without allowing your identities to become exposed."
His eyes settled on Aurora.
"Aurora."
She stepped forward.
"Great Eclipse."
"You will bear the title..."
Ares paused.
"The Angel of Death."
Aurora’s expression remained calm.
"An angel does not always bring salvation."
Ares’s voice remained quiet.
"Sometimes its purpose is to bring an end to those who have already chosen the path of destruction."
He raised his hand.
"Your authority will be the Behemoth."
Aurora lowered her head.
"I accept."
The Eclipse gathered.
Then—
BOOOOOOM!
A massive pressure descended upon Aurora.
The floor beneath her feet cracked as the Behemoth Authority entered her body.
For an instant, an enormous silhouette appeared behind her.
A creature of overwhelming physical power.
Its presence alone seemed capable of crushing the surrounding chamber.
Aurora’s blue hair lifted in the pressure.
Her mana surged violently before settling into a completely different state.
Her body remained still.
Her eyes closed.
Then she opened them.
The calm within them had not disappeared.
It had become sharper.
More absolute.
Aurora slowly raised her hand.
A tremendous physical force gathered around her fingers.
She looked toward Ares.
"I understand."
Her voice was quieter than before.
"But this power..."
She paused.
"It is far beyond what I expected."
Ares smiled faintly.
"You were capable of carrying it."
Aurora lowered herself onto one knee.
"Then I will carry it without hesitation."
Her expression became solemn.
"Thank you, Great Eclipse."
Ares nodded.
"Rise, Aurora, Angel of Death."
Aurora stood.
Herrera stepped forward.
Ares looked at her.
"Herrera."
"Yes, Great Eclipse."
"You have always been capable of controlling situations from a distance. Your abilities allow you to restrain, manipulate, and destroy without requiring direct confrontation."
Herrera’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Ares continued.
"Your new title will be..."
"Death Puppeteer."
Herrera’s eyes brightened slightly.
"I like it."
Ares gave a small smile.
"I thought you might."
He extended his hand.
"Your authority will be the Void Mantis."
The chamber darkened.
Not physically.
Rather, the light itself seemed to become strangely distant.
The Eclipse surrounding Herrera twisted into thin strands before suddenly disappearing into her body.
BOOOOM!
Her aura erupted.
The space around her seemed to distort.
For a moment, her figure appeared to exist several steps away from where she actually stood.
Then everything stabilized.
Herrera slowly opened her eyes.
A faint violet glow passed through them.
She raised one hand.
Thin traces of void energy gathered around her fingers.
She stared at them with fascination.
"This power..."
Ares nodded.
"An authority built around speed, precision, and the manipulation of space through a predator that does not need brute strength to kill."
Herrera smiled.
"That suits me perfectly."
She lowered herself onto one knee.
"I accept this power, Great Eclipse."
Her smile became slightly sharper.
"And I promise that anyone who attempts to interfere with Eclipse will learn exactly why you gave me that title."
Ares looked at her.
"Rise."
Herrera stood.
Octavia stepped forward next.
Ares studied her for a moment.
"Octavia."
She bowed.
"Great Eclipse."
"You possess tremendous control over your existing abilities, but there is still much more you can accomplish."
He extended his hand.
"Your title will be..."
Ares paused.
"The Thousand-Armed Valkyrie."
Octavia’s eyes widened slightly.
Ares continued.
"A Valkyrie stands where others fall and continues fighting regardless of how many enemies stand before her. The title represents more than strength."
His gaze sharpened.
"It represents the ability to command the battlefield through overwhelming versatility."
Octavia nodded.
"I understand."
"The authority I will give you is the Thunder Roc."
Lightning suddenly appeared around Ares’s hand.
CRACK!
The sound echoed through the chamber.
Octavia’s eyes widened.
The authority entered her body.
BOOOOOOM!
Lightning erupted around her.
Thunder shook the chamber.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Electricity surged across the floor before disappearing into the Eclipse surrounding Octavia.
Her white hair lifted.
Her aura expanded.
A massive avian silhouette formed above her.
Its wings spread across the chamber for a brief moment before dissolving into countless sparks.
Octavia remained perfectly still.
Then the lightning disappeared.
She opened her eyes.
The faint glow of thunder remained within them.
Octavia slowly clenched her hand.
Lightning gathered between her fingers.
"This power..."
She examined it carefully.
"It responds almost immediately."
Ares nodded.
"Your control will determine how far you can take it."
Octavia lowered herself onto one knee.
"Then I will master it."
She looked directly at Ares.
"Thank you, Great Eclipse."
Ares nodded.
"Rise, Octavia, Thousand-Armed Valkyrie."
Octavia stood.
Only Leonora remained.
Ares looked toward her.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Leonora’s expression remained composed, but there was a subtle anticipation in her eyes.
Ares finally spoke.
"Leonora."
She stepped forward.
"Great Eclipse."
"You have already demonstrated your ability to adapt during battle. Against an opponent whose strength should have placed the fight in his favor, you continued adjusting until his own abilities became weapons against him."
Leonora smiled faintly.
"I merely used what was available."
Ares shook his head slightly.
"That is precisely why the title suits you."
He raised his hand.
"From this day forward, you will be known as Leonora, the Mirror of Ruin."
Leonora’s eyes narrowed with interest.
"A mirror reflects what stands before it."
Ares continued.
"But yours will do more than reflect. It will return the strength of your enemies against them until they are forced to face the destruction they created themselves."
Leonora’s smile became slightly wider.
"I accept."
Ares extended his hand.
"Your authority will be the World Serpent."
The atmosphere changed immediately.
An immense pressure seemed to descend from somewhere beyond the chamber itself.
Something that felt as though it could coil around the entire world.
Leonora’s expression became serious.
The authority entered her body.
BOOOOOOM!
A tremendous wave of magical pressure spread outward.
The floor cracked beneath her.
A colossal serpentine silhouette appeared behind Leonora.
Its body seemed endless.
For several seconds, the members of Eclipse could do nothing but stare.
Then the image disappeared.
The pressure settled.
Leonora opened her eyes.
A strange golden-green light flickered within them.
She slowly raised her hand.
The authority responded immediately.
Ares watched her carefully.
"You will need considerable control."
Leonora smiled.
"I believe I can manage."
She lowered herself onto one knee.
"Thank you, Great Eclipse."
Her eyes remained fixed on him.
"I will make certain this power becomes worthy of the title you have given me."
Ares nodded.
"Rise, Mirror of Ruin."
Leonora stood beside the other Black Roses.
The six newly empowered members now stood together before the throne.
Vhan.
Vince.
Aurora.
Herrera.
Octavia.
Leonora.
They were no longer the same individuals who had entered the chamber.
Each of them had crossed another boundary.
