Chapter 243: Flames against Softness

After Aric and Dion’s match, the next match to be called would be a rather hot-blooded one.

"FOR OUR NEXT MATCH, WE HAVE THE PHOENIX PRINCESS OF THE HUMAN RACE, ROSE DARKFELL!!!!!" The commentator announced. "AND AGAINST HER IS VAEL TIDECREST OF 5HE THE MERFOLK RACE!!!!"

Excitement bloomed in the hearts of the audience. Another epic fight was underway, after all, they had watched what both candidates were capable of. One was capable of rendering anything to ash, and the other could mollify himself and the surroundings.

"Be careful Vael, lest you turn into a pile of ash." Namor said as vael slowly stood up with a smile on his face.

"Yes, I think you’re right, Your highness." Vael replied. "I think I’ll have to be extremely cautious."

Though the commentator would stop him from dying, Vael had no intensions of losing to Rose, at least not so early in the match. Vael wasn’t so delusional, he wondered who the hell had even fixed his match with this mean looking princess.

What did they expect when they pitted a slob of rubber( even though his mollification wasn’t technically making him into rubber) against a sundering volcano?

But Vael knew what he got to do was just last long enough before taking a forfeit.

Meanwhile, Rose also stood up from her seat. "I’ll be back." She simply said, and then the bright light relocated both Vael and Rose herself to the ground.

After the participants were transported, Delilah turned to Anastasia, but before she could even open her mouth, Anastasia opened hers.

"I caught a glimpse of eleven thousand and something possible futures on this match." The redhead said.

"...What?! How did you know I was going to ask that?!" Delilah gaped, but soon regained composure. "Right, you can see the future." She nodded, trying to convince herself to accept that fact. She still hadn’t come to terms with it.

"You said you saw eleven thousand possible futures for this match, what are the odds then?" Delilah asked. Though she had complete faith in Rose winning, she still wanted to know what future Anastasia had seen.

"An overwhelming one hundred percent." Anastasia smiled. "In none of those eleven thousand possible futures did the match last more than a minute."

"That overwhelming, I see." Delilah nodded contemplatively. If Rose won over eleven thousand times in each possible future Anastasia had foresaw, then it was going to be an overwhelming match. Especially since Anastasia had said that in each of those futures, the match ended in less than a minute.

Meanwhile, Rose and Vael stood at opposite sides, facing each other down on the ground.

"For your own good, I shall ask this once, will you forfeit or would you go on with this match?" Rose asked. If possible, she wanted this to end without her having to fight.

"You wish." Vael replied with a happy go lucky smile. "I’m not one to forfeit.

"Fine." Rose muttered.

"AH, I SEE OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE EXCHANGING PLEASANTRIES!" THE COMMENTATOR SAID. "BUT I’M AFRAID I MUST CUT THE PLEASANTRIES SHORT, I HEREBY DECLARE RHE START OF THIS MATCH!"

BOOM!

In a short explosive burst of air, Rose appeared before Vael. Since the boy refused to forfeit, she would end it this instant.

Vael’s happy go lucky smile vanished the instant the commentator declared the match to being. But how was he supposed to know that at that same instant, Rose would suddenly appear before him, her fist cocked back to demolish his head.

Vael acted on instinct, the entirety of his shoulders to his neck softening, and as Rose’s fist took his entire view, his head, neck, and shoulders, collapsed downwards into his torso.

Rose’s fist hit the space Vael’s head was supposed to be in the next instant, and at the impact of her fist with the air, a blinding bean of fire ignited at that moment and shit in a straight line backwards, reducing anything in its way to ashes.

However, Rose was well aware of the fact that her fist would fail to hit Vael’s head since he sunk inwards at the last second, so she already transitioned into a kick at his midsection.

However, to her shock her leg sunk into his body without producing any damage whatsoever. Even the shockwave supposed to be generated from the impact was seemingly nullified.

Though, Rose’s shock didn’t last, she already knew about Vael’s ability, and the only reason she was even shocked in the first place was because seeing and hearing about it couldn’t compare to it actually happening to her.

However, rose has already made a counter for Vael the moment it was revealed that she would be fighting him. The moment her leg sunk into his rubber like body, rose detonated an explosion from her feet.

BOOM!

Needless to say, Vael got blasted away to the side like a ragdoll, spun for a few moments mid air, before ultimately crashing to the ground on his two feet. If one looked at his torso, they would see third degree burns on his side. Though none of his bones were broken due to his mollification, heat and fire cared not for such, and even this was Rose holding back the power of her flames.

Damon watched all these from the platform with an indifferent gaze. He knew that had Rose wanted to be cruel, she could simply allow the flames to latch onto Vael’s body and burn him to ashes in seconds. But she was only using the explosive power of the flames, and the tiniest bit of their heat.

’Can’t believe I’m saying this, but she has grown soft.’ Damon though with a wry smile, completely overlooking the fact that rose had earlier thrown that explosive bead of hers at the face of her opponent at the start of a match.

Rose meanwhile, was already moving again even before Vael crashed to the ground. Two jets of fire ignited beneath her soles, propelling her forward with explosive speed. One moment Vael landed on the ground, the next, Rose’s fist sunk into his chest just like before without causing any harm.

However, Rose created a blinding explosion around her fist once more. Vael’s mollified form visibly rippled, before his body shot backwards like streak of lightning in a blinding explosion.

One moment he was before Rose, and the next, he was half embedded at the base of a mountain, coughing his innards, with red flesh drooping with sizzling blood at his chest.

A heart wrenching pain gripped Vael, but he couldn’t even utter a single sound. Through his hazy vision however, he glimpsed the figure of Rose rushing towards him one more. With a flicker of his will, the mountain Vael was half embedded in softened like quicksand.

The next moment Rose’s fist crashed into his face once more, but unlike before when only his body softened, the mountain holding his form softened, and both sank through it’s depths as if it was water.

Rose was taken aback, but she didn’t let that stop her. However, just as rose was about to detonate an explosion in his face, the mid around her body suddenly hardened back to rock, while Vael’s body continued to sink through the mud, and away from her fist, leaving her trapped entirely in rock hard stone.

Vael meanwhile, swam his way out of the mountain, and dropped on his knees, gasping for breath.

"OOOH, THE KING OF MOLLIFICATION JUST LEFT THE PHOENIX PRINCESS TRAPPED AND STRANDED INSIDE A MOUNTAIN! WHAT A TWIST OF THE GAME!!"

Up on the platform, a few students shook their head. Rose hadn’t gone all out to end it even when she had the chance, and now it had cost her.

Delilah turned to Anastasia.

"Didn’t you say she won eleven thousand out of eleven thousand?" She asked.

Anastasia merely gestured back to the projection with her chin. "Look."

At the same instant Delilah turned back to stare at the screen, the mountain which rose had been trapped in ceased to exist in a blinding explosion.

Vael who was still at the mountain’s base was blown away before he could even blink. But in the middle of the ruins all, stood a figure completely covered in incandescent flames. Volcanic glass and lava streams ran across the earth in her surrounding. If anyone was to describe the scene, it would be pure purgatory.

Rose’s incandescent figure disappeared from her place in the flicker of a dying flame , and reappeared next to Vael’s wrecked body. However, just as her hand was about to close around his neck, a firm hand grasped her hand.

Even without a glance, Rose knew it was the commentator.

"ROSE DARKFELL WINS!!!!"

"I told you didn’t I?" Anastasia muttered to Delilah back on the platform.
