Chapter 244: Poison Vs Erosion

‎After the commentator announced Rose’s win, Vael was transported outside the pocket realm, while Rose herself, was relocated back on to the platform.

‎"NOW THAT WE’VE WITNESSED SICH A GOOD MATCH, THOUGH SLIGHTLY ANTI CLIMATIC CONSIDERING IT ONLY LASTED 40 SECONDS, WE WOULD WITHOUT WASTING TIME, MOVE ON TO THE NEXT MATCH!"

‎"WE HAVE, THE PRINCE OF DECAY, FABIAN ASHTON. AND AGAINST HIM IS, THE VIPER, VIVIAN SECUNDUS!!"

‎Vivian was one of the demons still on the platform. She was a noble of House secundus, sporting vivid green hair with black roots, and pink eyes, and like any other demoness, she was bewitching.

‎Momenta later, the bright light took both combatants down to the ground. Even before the commentator announced the beginning of the fight, Fabian stretched his hand to the side, a pitch black halberd that gleamed with a lethal light manifesting in his outstretched hand.

‎Vivian also did the same, a sleek katana appearing in her hand.

‎"Our abilities are very much similar don’t you think?" Vivian asked trying to make small talk.

‎Fabian for all his coldness, didn’t refuse to open his mouth this time. "I thought of the same when I saw your match earlier." He said with the thing closest to a smile.

‎"Hey, is it me or is Fabian looking somewhat creepy right now?" Delilah asked turning to Rose and Anastasia.

‎"He does seem slightly out of character." Rose nodded in agreement. Fabian was smiling, that was something Rose had probably ever seen once if ever.

‎"Perhaps having to fight someone with similar ability to his brought emotions to his face." Anastasia suggested.

‎"No," Delilah shook her head. "I think there’s something else at play here."

‎"You’re thinking something ridiculous again aren’t you?" Rose muttered.

‎"And don’t you say something like he probably fell for his opponent at first sight." Anastasia added.

‎"You..." Delilah wanted to retort, but had nothing to say. She was indeed about to say that. "Stop looking into immediate futures would you, you always know what we would say before we even say it." Delilah huffed.

‎"ALRIGHT, BONDING TIME IS OVER!!!" The commentator said in a sing song tone. "I HEREBY DECLARE THUS MATCH TO BEGIN!!"

‎Fabian’s body transformed into a navy blue color, with silver lines running across it, while Vivian’s body did the same, changing into a green color reminiscent of a poisonous snake.

‎Both vanished from their spots on a flicker of blue and green auras. The ground caved in as as steel met steel, halberd against katana, with both Fabian and Vivian pushing against each other with considerably strength, making the ground sink in even further.

‎But that wasn’t the end, as their eyes locked into each other’s, a silent understanding passed between them, and the next instant, both withdrew their weapons for a fraction of a second, before striking once more.

‎But this time, blue-black and green clouds of mists exploded and ballooned into existence as their weapon clashed once more.

‎The moment the blue-black and green mists touched, it was as if a chemical reaction had occured as both combatants got sent flying backwards.

‎Fabian shrouded all over by the blue-black mist, and Vivian shrouded in the thick green mist.

‎Fabian dug his halberd into the ground into the ground, skidding to a stop, while Vivian did the same with her katana.

‎Foe the first time in a long while since Fabian could remember, his lips split into a grin as he straightened up. "It’s like looking in a mirror." he muttered to himself.

‎Fabian effortlessly remained his spear from the ground, after all, the ground was no more than visibly crumbling nothingness under the assault of the thick blue-black mist shrouding both him and his weapon.

‎Before, Fabian could only eroded things by touch, or by something coming into contact with his body. Now however, after taking the fruit of the divine tree and breaking through to the Zeta-rank, he gained a new ability.

‎Fabian could now wield his erosion in gaseous form, anything the erosion mist touched rapidly deteroriated and crumbled within seconds. He was no longer limited to physical contact.

‎The same was the case for Vivian. Her initial ability only let her poison someone or something, organic or inorganic with but a single touch. A single touch of her hand could melt skin and poison someone to death, so in a way, it was even more fatal than Fabian’s ability whose effects stop the moment one got out of contact with him.

‎Like Fabian, after eating the fruit of the divine tree and breaking through to the Zeta-rank, Vivian had gained a new ability dubbed poison mist, and was no longer limited by physical contact.

‎Even currently, while the surroundings around Fabian was rapidly crumbling and deteriorating to nothingness, the area around Vivian was melting into a sickly green goo.

‎As both locked eyes once more, both exploded forwards with their clouds of mists shrouding and trailing behind them. ‎From a bird’s view, it would look like two clouds of destruction were moving towards each other, leaving nothing but desolation in their wake.

‎"THESE TWO AREN’T MERE SAPIENS, THEY ARE HERALDS OF DESOLATION!!" The commentator exclaimed in enthusiasm.

‎Both finally met in an explosive shockwave that surprisingly didn’t blow away both mists. Both clashed again, halberd against katana.

‎Their weapons moved so fast they left afterimages, clashing with repeated shockwaves, with none wanting to yield to the other.

‎For the rest of the audience, they could only see two furious mists fighting for dominance over the other with none yielding. They had long stopped seeing the figures of of the two combatants under thick mists.

‎Only sounds of battle could still be heard from the within the cloud of mists. Meanwhile, inside, Fabian swept his halberd to the side.

‎<Erosion Tempest wheel>

‎Instead of the bright acr that usually left his halberd when he used the tempest wheel, a black-blue arc escaped his halberd and shot towards Vivian, eroding and decomposing everything in its path including Vivian’s poison mist.

‎This new technique was Fabian’s own creation which he had created on a fly. He infused his erosion transformed aether into the original tempest wheel, thus making it extremely more lethal.

‎Seeing the attack coming her way, Vivian’s eyes widened. ’Something like this is possible?’ She thought as she jumped upwards and vaulted over the eroding arc.

‎But that wasn’t the only thing Vivian did. Flipping through the air, she brought her katana in a downward slash.

‎<Poison renewal slash>

‎Vivian did the same and tuned one of her techniques the same way Fabian did, and sent a green poison infused vertical slash flying towards Fabian.

‎But seeing the slash appear instantly before him, Fabian’s grin widened. He raised the shaft of his spear and tanked the slash with it.

‎However, the power of the slash surpassed his expectations. The attack exploded against his halberd with the force of a mountain, cutting a few gashes across his arm, and a small cut on his cheek.

‎Fabian skidded a few meters backwards, and before he could reorient himself, Vivian still shrouded in her green poison mist to shield her from Fabian’s erosion mist appeared before him.

‎However, Fabian was already ready for her. He weaved away from her diagonal slash and hit her in the guts with the shaft of his halberd, knocking the breath out of her, before the blade of his weapon screeched towards her side and carved a grim cut from her lower chest to her waist.

‎Fabian also wasn’t untouched. The places he had been cut by the explosion of the green slash earlier, had already melted,l with a sickly pus. However, he wasn’t poisoned because he had long eroded the poison that entered his body through the wounds.

‎Their weapons clashed once more before both used the momentum and exploded backwards.

‎They stared at each other, this time their chests heaving in slight exhaustion, the slightest wince present on their faces from the grim looking wounds marring their bodies.

‎In their gazes, they came to an understanding, one move to finish it all.

‎Fabian straightened, infusing his halberd with almost all of his aether, his halberd glowing with a blue-black hue.

‎Vivian did the same, her pristine katana glowing a sickly green hue.

‎Both disappeared from their spots at the same time and crossed the distance between them in a fraction of a moment.

‎The moment their weapons clashed, a blue-green cataclysmic explosion of epic exploded outwards, leaving pure desolation on its wake. Everything they swept through was reduced to nothingness.

‎The wave of desolation continued to spread, and by the time it stopped, the two mists shrouding the surrounding also began to fade away.

‎Everyone in the audience say on edge, waiting patiently for the mists to fade away and reveal the winner. Time stretched for about thirty seconds, before the situation became visible.

‎Both combatants were barely standing. They looked to be in a worse condition than any of the combatants in the previous matches that has taken place.

‎Fabian’ skin was melted in many places, including one of his eyelids, exposing an eerie eye to the audience, while Vivian looked equally haggard with her body as withered as a broom.

‎The crowd watched on, wondering who would fall first, but what happened next was completely out of their expectations.

‎Both combatants opened their mouths at the same time and said; "I forfeit!"
