The Evil Bastard of Murim

Chapter 37 - 36: Arrival at Mount Hua (11)

After entering the base, the last hope Wolryung had been carrying, that the inside of the base might be different from the outside, shattered completely. He was at a loss for words. Inside the base there was nothing. And by nothing, I mean completely empty. If it wasn’t for the base being too clean Wolryung would doubt if someone lived here.

How pitiful.

‘I think I shouldn’t have bothered to come here. I just wasted my precious time.’

What could he possibly gain by coming to a place like this? Truly a waste of time.

Totally disappointed, Wolryung looked at Jin Ho.

“Jin Ho.”

“Yes, young master.”

“I think we just wasted our time. There is nothing we can...”

“Understood, young master.”

He didn’t even let Wolryung finish his sentence as if he had understood what Wolryung was about to say and started taking his sword out from the sheath as he gave a cold look toward the bandit leader.

“I’ll make sure they pay the price properly.”

Flinch!

All the bandits flinched by Jin Ho’s cold aura.

‘What the hell are you doing? I was trying to say that we should just leave though.’

This damn protagonist’s personality really got twisted too far. Before, even with his personality changing, he would still listen to what Wolryung was saying carefully. But now, he didn’t even bother to listen to Wolryung and was doing things as he pleases. He should at least hear the full sentence first, right? Why assume things on your own before hearing the full story?

‘Did I make a mistake by going there?’

Now Wolryung was thinking if he shouldn’t have gone to the Murim Alliance Western Sichuan Branch. This damn protagonist had started showing signs of twisted personality after that incident, had he not? So, if they didn’t go there...

‘No... How can that be?’

If they didn’t go there how would they get a huge amount of compensation like that? 350 gold nyang wasn’t something Wolryung could give up on a trivial matter like someone’s personality getting twisted.

Wolryung was having mixed feelings now. One of his parts was saying he shouldn’t have gone to Western Sichuan and the other part was saying he did great by going there.

What a troublesome matter.

“Hmm...”

Suddenly what came out of the bandit leader’s mouth made Wolryung surprised.

“Uh! Young Warrior. It’s not the main base.”

“???”

Wolryung looked at the bandit leader with a suspicious gaze.

“Not the main base? What do you mean by that?”

*

“...”

“So... This is the way to go to the main base?”

“...Yes.”

The bandit leader, Cho Heon, answered Wolryung, forcing himself to sound sincere. While Wolryung was staring at the huge dark hole on the ground that was revealed after Cho Heon removed a flat piece of material that was covering the dark hole. Wolryung was really surprised that something like this even existed, something that, when placed on the ground, looked exactly like real mud.

It was truly magnificent. So much that even after reading the novel countless times he never found an item like that. If he had, would he forget about a magnificent item like that?

Nope. There was simply no way. But...

‘Now that I think about it...’

Wolryung suddenly realized something. Since he was about to leave the base if not for Jin Ho, didn’t he just get fooled by Cho Heon for the second time?

Gritting his teeth, Wolryung gave a murderous gaze toward Cho Heon which made shivers run down Cho Heon’s spine.

‘Why is he looking at me like that? I didn’t make any mistakes, did I?’

He was already being fully sincere with them. So, Cho Heon couldn’t understand Wolryung’s behavior toward him at all.

“...”

‘Let’s not rush. It’s still a good thing.’

Since the main base wasn’t this shabby little hut, the hope that there might be some things he could take came again. So, it wasn’t a bad thing, was it?

Wolryung, who looked like he wanted to cut, dry and chew every part of Cho Heon’s body a moment ago, suppressed his anger and cleared his throat.

“Ahem... Let us go inside then.”

“...Y-Yes. Please do, young warriors.”

With the bandits leading the way, Wolryung and Jin Ho started following them into the secret main base.

‘Man it wasn’t a waste of time at all.’

If they made the main base a secret base then there should be something valuable there, right?

‘You are the best, Jin Ho.’

The protagonist is the best.

Wolryung looked at Jin Ho with a very satisfied and proud expression which made Jin Ho a bit uncomfortable.

“What is it, young master?”

“It’s nothing.”

With that satisfied look on his face Wolryung turned his head forward again, looking straight at the bandits.

‘I did a great thing going to the Western Sichuan.’
