Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The verdict
Hesa stood frozen as Ronan’s words echoed through her mind.
Undead?
She was actually an undead now.
Even if she returned to the kingdom, they would probably kill her before she even had a chance to explain herself.
"How... how dare you!"
Hesa’s anger flared.
She attacked Ronan.
Her steps cracked the ground beneath her feet, but no matter how fast or how hard she attacked, her attacks stopped just millimeters away from Ronan’s body.
His warm breath brushed against her face.
It was almost as though he was laughing at her.
That tiny distance felt like an enormous chasm that she simply couldn’t cross.
No matter what method she used, nothing worked.
Even when she became enraged and activated her vampire abilities, she still couldn’t touch him.
That tiny gap seemed completely indestructible.
This continued for several more minutes.
The intensity of Hesa’s attacks caused the temperature in the cave to rise.
Both Yen and Ronan silently watched her.
Finally...
Bang!
Hesa’s knees slammed into the ground.
She breathed heavily, her face twisted with anger and frustration.
"When you’re ready, follow us."
"You’re already being hunted along with us anyways"
Ronan spoke coldly before leaving the cave.
Yen glanced at Hesa for a moment before following Ronan.
"Master... do you think she’ll follow us?"
As soon as they stepped outside, Yen couldn’t help but ask.
Ronan smiled when he heard her question.
"Does she have a choice?"
Ronan chuckled.
Then, to Yen’s surprise, Hesa walked out of the cave and trailed behind them.
The group had now grown from two members to three.
Hesa, Ronan, and Yen continued toward the Javo Territory.

Meanwhile, back in the capital...
Once all the Duke Family’s crimes had been revealed with irrefutable evidence, the Duke Family finally realized something.
This wasn’t a trial.
It wasn’t a hearing.
This was the day the Duke Family was being dragged onto the execution block to be destroyed.
By the time the final crime was announced, Bama was already kneeling on the ground in horror.
"It’s over..."
Bama spoke fearfully.
The Duke’s expression was one of complete disbelief.
How could this be?
For the Royal Family to gather this much evidence...
One could almost believe that they had been planning this for years.
But why?
What benefit would they gain from destroying the Duke Family and eliminating a Supreme Realm expert?
His question was answered shortly afterward.
The Royal Ancestor stepped forward.
Beside him stood the Pope.
Behind them were three men dressed in Holy Knight armor.
They were Paladins of the God of Wealth.
Even though they were the lowest-ranked Paladins, all three were Supreme Realm experts.
And they were far stronger than the Duke.
A smile slowly appeared on the Duke’s face.
"I see now..."
The Duke muttered with a smile.
Kill one Supreme Realm expert...
And gain three in return.
What a crazy bargain.
And with the destruction of the Duke Family, the construction of the God’s Temple would no longer face any opposition.
"You really are a crazy old friend."
The Duke couldn’t help but say.
"The Duke Family will be relieved of its position."
"And the Duke shall be executed for his crimes."
The verdict was announced and with it came the death sentence for the Duke Family’s patriarch.
Now that they were no longer the Duke Family, their immunity token had become useless.
And with the loss of their Supreme Realm expert, the family was like a flock of sheep that had lost its shepherd.
They had become prey for the wolves.
The eyes of every Marquis in the capital were now fixed on them.
And these wolves were hungry.
Very hungry.
They were ready to devour the Duke Mansion.
Meanwhile, the King wore a wide smile.
After all, opposing the will of the gods was wrong, wasn’t it?
Hahaha.
Just because he had agreed to this arrangement, the Church had given him three Supreme Realm experts.
With such a force...
Could anyone defeat him?
No.
But as long as the temple was built, a new religion and perhaps the only religion would spread throughout the Destal Kingdom and its vassal states.
For the Church, three Supreme Realm expert was nothing compared to gaining more believers.
And although the Destal Kingdom wasn’t as powerful as the High Kingdoms of the Central Continent, it wasn’t insignificant either.
Even mosquito meat was still meat.
So the trade had been a success.
And as for the Duke and his family...
The Royal Ancestor gave a signal.
One of the Holy Knights stepped forward.
The Duke was chained to the ground.
The Holy Knight raised his sword.
Then...
It came down in one swift motion.
Slash!
Blood spurted from the Duke’s neck.
His head rolled across the ground, his eyes wide with shock.
Even in death, he couldn’t understand how that single sword strike had killed him so easily.
Meanwhile, the Pope took a deep breath before waving his hand.
"Has the Duke Family already been locked down?"
He asked one of his servants.
"Yes, Pope."
"They have been completely surrounded. No one can enter or leave."
The servant replied.
"Good."
"After this, we will cleanse the Duke Family."
The Pope spoke coldly.
He still needed to find the undead.
Before, doing so had been difficult because the Duke was still alive.
But now...
The Duke was gone.
His family had been stripped of their noble status.
It would be much easier to deal with them using the iron fist of the Church.
Bama fainted on the spot when he saw his father beheaded.
Meanwhile, the elders wore sorrowful expressions.
It was over.
The Duke Family was finished.
They, along with the unconscious Bama, were taken away.
In the coming years, most members of the Duke Family would spend their lives inside the kingdom’s cells.
The rest would become slaves to other nobles.
********
Outside the Destal Kingdom, a being could be seen riding a horse-like creature.
It stood nearly two meters tall, resembling a horse but possessing twice the muscle mass of an ordinary horse. Its cultivation had also reached the peak of the Sovereign Realm.
The creature had sleek, dark fur as it raced across the ground.
A familiar figure sat atop it, gritting his teeth, his expression filled with anxiety.
It was Selak.
And he had only one goal.
To find thr second child of the duke family.
Several months ago, she had encountered someone from a Middle-Level Continent and had been taken as that person’s disciple.
Her innate traits were also perfectly suited to that family, so Jani had left with them and had been away for several months.
Only she could save them now.
As for the Royal Family and the other major forces, the Duke Family had kept her existence hidden from them.
And the Jani currently attending the Royal Academy...
She was nothing more than a fake.
The real Jani had already left the kingdom.
Now, she was the only person who could save the Duke Family from extinction.
"Come on... faster, you beast!"
"ROOAR!"
The creature roared in response.
Its speed suddenly exploded.
The sound barrier shattered as it accelerated.
Twice the speed of sound.
Three times.
Then five times.
A long trail of dust and shattered earth stretched behind it as Selak tightly held onto the creature’s body.
He couldn’t afford to slow down.
Not now.
If he arrived too late...
The Duke Family would be finished.
