Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Welcome to the abyss
"Nice to have you with us, Miss Hesa," Ronan said with a smile.
Hesa merely gritted her teeth but didn’t react.
The three moved at a steady pace. Soon, darkness descended, but they could already see the Javo Territory just beyond the hill ahead.
Since they were all undead and had no problem seeing in the dark, they continued their journey.
First, they crossed a stretch of red sand before entering a dark forest.
Ronan, Hesa, and Yen entered the forest, disappearing into the darkness.
---
Meanwhile, at the cave Ronan and the others had stayed in earlier...
A group of dozens of black-hooded figures appeared.
Each of them radiated a pure, holy aura.
Their faces were hidden beneath their hoods as one of them entered the cave.
It took him a while to return.
He shook his head.
"They shouldn’t have gone far."
"Search the surrounding area."
The leader spoke.
The others nodded before disappearing into the forest.
After the Pope arrived at the Duke Family’s residence, he quickly realized that the undead was no longer there.
He had immediately begun searching for it.
Soon, they learned about a crimson-eyed maiden.
But now, she was gone as well.
Almost at the same time, news reached the Pope that Hesa had escorted the Duke Family’s guests out of the capital.
Combined with the disappearance of the crimson-eyed maiden, it didn’t take long for him to figure out that the undead might have been that same crimson-eyed maiden.
"Here!"
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the forest.
A fierce wind swept through the area as multiple figures appeared beside a massive ditch a kilometer away.
The moment they looked inside, their skin crawled.
Hundreds of beasts lay scattered across the bottom of the ditch.
"It did this?"
One of them couldn’t help but ask.
"Most likely."
"Missing flesh. Drained blood."
"Is this a ghoul or a vampire?"
An experienced veteran couldn’t help but ask.
"Could be both."
"The crimson-eyed maiden had a slave with her, so perhaps one is a ghoul and the other is a vampire?"
Someone chimed in.
The others nodded.
"They won’t be far."
"Split up in three directions and pursue them until you reach the edge of the continent."
"Copy."
The group immediately dispersed.
Their speeds surpassed the speed of sound as they disappeared into the distance.
---
Inside the Javo Territory...
Yen was surprised. Just as Ronan had said, the Javo didn’t attack them.
The Javo merely spared them a glance before continuing with their daily activities.
Meanwhile, Hesa was stunned by the true scale of the Javo Race.
There were tens of millions of them.
It was like an endless sea of bodies stretching as far as the eye could see.
The sight gave her goosebumps.
She couldn’t help but compare them to the hundreds of thousands of them that had attacked the kingdom at a time.
If all these Javo were released...
Could the Destal Kingdom even survive?
Eventually, they reached the core of the territory.
The already dark forest became even darker beneath the cover of night.
The instant Ronan entered the area, he sensed a familiar feeling.
Home...
Yes.
The gateway to the Abyss was here.
He could already sense it.
But there was more than just the gateway.
Four-headed Javo and five-headed Javo slept throughout the core of the territory.
Ronan swallowed nervously.
Being surrounded by so many King Realm and Supreme Realm beings frightened him.
But unlike the capital...
The Javo didn’t seem to care about their presence at all.
It seemed the Javo Race and the Abyss truly were allies.
"Could we really use the gateway?"
Ronan stared at the gigantic portal in the distance.
It was larger than anything he had ever seen.
But beside it were enormous bodies with four and five heads , some stretching tens of meters long, sleeping peacefully around the gateway.
Ronan swallowed nervously.
Then he took a step forward.
Yen and Hesa followed behind him.
The two were nervous as well.
Step by step, they approached the glowing portal.
Finally, they were only a few steps away.
The enormous bodies of the Javo loomed around them.
The terrifying auras radiating from them were a testament to their frightening strength.
Ronan had already come this far.
It would be a waste to chicken out at the last moment.
So...
He took another step and entered the gateway, then nothing happened.
Yen and Hesa were relieved when they saw that the Javo didn’t react.
The two quickly followed.
Their vision blurred.
Then...
They appeared in a completely different environment.
The sky resembled a burning furnace, glowing blood-red.
The soil beneath their feet was dark.
The temperature was several degrees hotter than normal.
Yet strangely...
They felt comfortable.
Their bodies felt relaxed.
Almost as though they had always belonged here.
This...
Was their home.
"Welcome..."
"To the Abyss."
Ronan chuckled as he looked at the two women, who were curiously observing their surroundings.
Ronan was smiling.
After all, the Abyss contained all the resources he needed to grow.
And his title...
He wasn’t the only one with it.
There had been cases of runaway slaves before.
To vampires and the races above them, such beings were nothing particularly special.
In fact, many of them looked at runaway slaves with a strange sense of satisfaction.
It wasn’t easy for a ghoul to develop intelligence, break free from its master’s control, and escape into the Abyss.
Nevertheless, once they entered the Abyss, other ghouls would still try to kill them.
And according to the laws established by the higher realms...
Vampires and the races above them were technically forbidden from interacting with such beings.
In fact, once they reached the Vampire Rank, they were expected to hunt and kill runaway slaves.
That was why runaway slaves were castaways.
They couldn’t return to the Abyss freely.
Nor could they join human society.
They were forced to exist on the edge of both worlds, constantly struggling to survive the pursuit of the two races.
Ronan looked at his status with excitement.
