The Exiled Alpha's Human Male Mate.[BL]

Chapter 67: What About The Full Moon Tonight?!

Clothes.

That was the next thing that came to Bryce’s mind.

If Vincent happened to drive down the street he was heading toward, he would recognize him immediately.

Without a second thought, he stepped into a clothing shop.

He moved through the endless rows of clothes, scanning the racks until he found what pleased him.

He picked out an oversized pair of sweatpants, along with a large T-shirt and an oversized hoodie. He was almost done when he spotted a cap and picked that up as well.

He knew he wasn’t the only blond-haired person in Alverton, but there probably weren’t enough of them for him to feel comfortable walking around with his hair exposed. The cap would at least make him less recognizable from a distance.

At the counter, he explained to the cashier that he needed to change into the clothes, he wasn’t sure whether the shop would allow it, but after paying and receiving his receipt, the cashier gave him permission to use the changing room.

A few minutes later, Bryce stepped outside wearing the new clothes.

For the first time since leaving the hotel, he didn’t feel quite so exposed.

Everything he wore was black, from the sweatpants to the oversized hoodie, with the cap pulled low enough to conceal most of his hair.

He stood on the pavement for a moment, staring ahead while another problem occurred to him.

Where was he supposed to go?

Should he leave the country?

The thought came and disappeared almost as quickly.

No.

That would cost him a fortune, and besides, he didn’t want to run as far as another country. He didn’t even know where he would go once he got there.

He spotted a row of benches where several people were sitting and walked over before taking an empty one.

For several minutes, he simply sat there, trying to put his thoughts in order.

Maybe he didn’t need to run very far at all.

Perhaps the safest way to avoid being found by Vincent and Dave was to remain somewhere neither of them would think to look.

He could stay right under their noses, provided he changed his identity and appearance enough to make himself difficult to recognize.

The thought of changing his identity brought another idea with it.

If he really was pregnant, he could disguise himself as a woman.

Because how else was he supposed to live among humans, or anywhere else, while carrying a baby as a man?

But if he really was carrying a child and managed to disappear completely, how would he take care of himself? How would he make sure the baby was developing properly, that it was still alive and healthy?

And when the time came, how was he supposed to give birth?

He couldn’t simply walk into a hospital and tell the doctors he needed to deliver a baby. They would probably run from him before he even finished explaining.

He could already imagine the chaos if word somehow got out that a man had become pregnant.

Perhaps he could stay away from Vincent for now, but when the pregnancy continued and he eventually reached the point where he could no longer manage it himself, he could find Vincent then.

By that point, Vincent would have no choice but to take responsibility and figure out how to deliver the baby.

More importantly, he wouldn’t be able to demand that the fertilized egg be transferred somewhere else.

But what if Vincent ran from him instead?

Vincent had already made it clear that men didn’t become pregnant. If Bryce told him the truth, would he even believe him? Would he still want anything to do with him after discovering that a man was carrying his child?

Would he accuse Bryce of lying and insist that the baby couldn’t possibly be his?

And what about Dave?

Dave didn’t even know the truth about Bryce’s own nature. He still believed Bryce was human. Finding out that he could transform into an animal would be shocking enough before he even heard the rest.

A man carrying a child.

Bryce swallowed.

What if neither of them wanted him in the end?

The thought struck harder than he expected.

Why was he so different from everyone else?

Why had his life become so complicated?

Another thought surfaced, darker than the rest.

What if he found a way to end the pregnancy, assuming there was one at all?

The moment the idea entered his mind, everything inside him recoiled from it.

He hated himself for even considering it.

He placed a hand against his stomach unconsciously.

Why was he even thinking this way? He hadn’t even confirmed that he was pregnant.

He was building his entire future around a possibility.

"I need to find out for sure," he muttered.

That was the only sensible thing to do, but what if an ordinary human pregnancy test didn’t work on him?

Still, he had to try.

He rose from the bench and began walking through the streets, keeping his head lowered beneath the cap as he searched for a reliable chemist.

After several minutes, he finally spotted one, he crossed the street, pushed open the door, and stepped inside.

"Hi, welcome."

The young woman behind the counter greeted him as soon as he entered.

Bryce approached her, keeping his voice low. "Do you have pregnancy test kits?"

The woman hesitated for a moment, her eyes moving over him before she answered, "Yes. Right there."

She pointed toward a nearby shelf, and Bryce followed the direction of her hand. He picked up one of the boxes without bothering to read anything on it.

He returned to the counter, paid for it, but remained where he was.

"How does it work?" he swallowed and asked.

The woman stared at him again.

Bryce gave a nervous chuckle. "I’m asking for my wife. She’s never used one before."

"You have a wife?" The woman’s eyebrows rose. "You look pretty young to be married."

"She’s actually my girlfriend," Bryce corrected himself quickly. "But once we confirm this, which I’m pretty sure is the case, there’s no doubt I’ll make her my wife."

He realized he was explaining far more than necessary and stopped himself before he could dig an even deeper hole.

The woman laughed softly. "In that case, congrats in advance."

"Thanks," Bryce replied shortly, then waited for the girl to answer the question he had asked.

"There are instructions inside the box, but I’ll explain it anyway. She just needs to get a drop of urine on the absorbent tip, then wait for three to five minutes. If one line appears, it’s negative. If two lines appear, it’s positive."

Bryce’s heart began racing.

Three to five minutes.

That was all it would take to find out whether the terrifying possibility occupying his mind was real.

He could almost picture the result already, even though he hadn’t taken the test.

"Thanks. Can I use your washroom? I’m kinda..."

His voice faltered intentionally, allowing the unfinished sentence to explain what he didn’t want to say aloud.

"Sure."

The woman gestured toward one of the workers nearby and asked them to show him where the washroom was.

Bryce followed the employee down the short corridor.

_

In the bathroom, he followed the instructions carefully before placing the test kit back inside its box and walking out.

"Thanks," he said to the woman at the counter as he passed.

"You’re welcome. Come again," she replied.

Bryce stepped back onto the street, unsure where to go as he waited for the result he had been dreading.

Should he return to Genovia City, disguise himself, and live there, or remain in Alverton and do the same?

Those were the only options he was willing to consider, but he still couldn’t decide which would be better.

His thoughts drifted back to the full moon Vincent had mentioned the day before, the one that was supposed to appear tonight.

His head throbbed at the thought, and he immediately pushed it away. He had enough to worry about without tormenting himself over something he couldn’t control.

Whatever happened to him would happen.

He didn’t care anymore.

Across the street, he spotted another row of benches and made his way toward them. He sat down, pulled the boxed test from his pocket, and checked the time.

Five minutes had already passed.

His heart began pounding so hard that he could hear it in his ears.

He stared at the kit in his hands, his fingers tightening around it as he covered the section displaying the result. For several seconds, he couldn’t bring himself to look.

Finally, he drew a shaky breath, uncovered it, and looked.

Two unmistakably dark lines appeared on the test, leaving Bryce completely breathless.
