Vincent reached his car and simply sat there, stranded in the driver’s seat while his thoughts raced in every direction.

He wasn’t sure whether Bryce was still somewhere inside the building, whether he had gone out into the streets, or whether he had returned to the house because he was tired and decided to rest.

Perhaps he should stay there and wait, hoping Bryce would eventually return on his own.

Vincent kept finding one explanation after another to hold on to, but beneath all of them was a possibility he refused to face.

Bryce had left.

He had decided to walk away from both him and Dave.

Because if Bryce was simply somewhere and intended to come back, why had his phone suddenly become unreachable?

The thought alone was difficult enough to accept, but another possibility coiled darkly through his mind, making his chest tighten.

What if Bryce had gone back to Dave?

Vincent couldn’t breathe properly at the thought. The idea of Bryce choosing to return to that man was unbearable, even as a possibility.

Perhaps he had gone to see his mother.

But if that was all it was, why would Bryce leave without saying a word? Did he think Vincent would stop him from going?

Or had something happened to him?

"Where on earth are you?"

The question escaped him quietly, but the uncertainty behind it was becoming unbearable.

His head throbbed as he reached for his phone and dialed Bryce’s number again. He waited, listening for any indication that the call would be answered, but there was nothing on the other end. After a few seconds, the line disconnected just as it had before.

’If you hadn’t broken your side of the bond with him, you would already know where he is,’ his wolf finally spoke, its voice still carrying the fury it had held onto since Vincent severed their connection to Bryce.

"Not helping," Vincent muttered, rubbing his temples.

’Of course I’m not helping, because there’s no way for me to help when you cut every connection we had to him. He probably went back to his boyfriend.’

"Shut up!" Vincent snapped, the suggestion immediately reigniting his anger. "He’s not even his boyfriend anymore."

’Fine. I’ll remain silent as you demanded. Tap me awake when you find him, because I need him, and make it quick. Tonight is the full moon. His other half is going to awaken, and he can’t go through it alone. We need to be there to help him. Besides, I can’t wait to meet his other half. My better half.’

The mention of the full moon sent another wave of panic through Vincent.

He pictured Bryce alone somewhere, completely unaware of what was coming, possibly stranded without anyone who understood what his body was about to endure.

If Bryce shifted and struggled against the instincts that came with the transformation, there would be no one there to help him.

If Bryce had truly decided to disappear and had no intention of returning tonight, then he couldn’t have chosen a worse time to do it.

Vincent needed to find him.

He pulled out his phone and made a call immediately.

"Confirm whether Bryce’s mother is sick, whether she’s in the hospital, and whether Bryce is there or is expected to go there. I need to know right now."

"Yes, sir."

The moment the response came, Vincent ended the call and dialed another number.

"Is the Sinclair son still in the hospital?"

"No, sir. His brothers came for him two hours ago. There’s also news that his father died last night in a car accident while on his way to look for him."

"What?"

The revelation caught Vincent completely off guard.

For a brief moment, something unfamiliar stirred inside him at the news, something he didn’t have time to identify before it disappeared beneath his growing concern.

Where had Dave’s brothers taken him?

And why had his father died at a moment like this?

According to the information Vincent’s researchers had gathered, Dave’s father was the closest person he had in his family, perhaps the only one he could truly rely on. His sudden death could only complicate an already dangerous situation.

"None of my business."

Vincent told himself that firmly, but even after dismissing it, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.

"Find out where his brothers took him. I want to know whether he’s still alive, and whether Bryce is there with him or might show up later. Be careful. Those people are dangerous."

"Yes, sir," the voice answered.

Vincent ended the call and lowered the phone, staring through the windshield without seeing anything.

A thought suddenly crossed his mind, and he immediately tore the suppressant patch from his neck before releasing his alluring pheromones into the air.

If Bryce was still somewhere around the hotel, he would be overwhelmed by those pheromones and instinctively drawn toward him.

Vincent released the pheromones at full strength, waiting with growing desperation for Bryce to appear, but no one came.

If Bryce was anywhere inside the building or somewhere around it, the scent should have reached him by now, especially with Vincent releasing it so intensely. The absence of any response left little room for doubt.

Bryce wasn’t there.

Vincent started the car and drove slowly through the streets of Alverton, continuing to release his pheromones as he went.

He drove through nearly half the town without Bryce showing up.

Worry tightened around his chest until breathing itself became difficult.

"Where are you really?" he murmured, his voice stripped of the authority he usually carried. "Please come back to me, even if it’s only for tonight."

He continued driving until he reached areas where the car could no longer take him. Eventually, he stopped, stepped out, and continued on foot, searching through the streets and narrower paths that were inaccessible by car while releasing more of his pheromones into the night.

The effort was beginning to drain him. He could feel his strength steadily diminishing, but he refused to stop.

His phone suddenly rang, and Vincent reached for it at once, his attention snapping to the screen.

It was one of his men.

For a moment, he simply stared at the call, afraid of what he might hear.

He wanted the news to be good.

They could tell him Bryce had gone to his mother’s place. Vincent wouldn’t mind even if Bryce had left without telling him. At least he would know where Bryce was.

Or perhaps they had found him with Dave.

That would be worse, but Vincent could deal with it. He would go there, bring Bryce back, and make sure he was safe through the night.

Anything was better than not knowing where he was.

He finally gathered the courage to answer.

He pressed the phone to his ear, his entire body tense as he waited for the voice on the other end.
