"Compensation," Phield said sternly. "I need compensation, or this matter is not over. I will make sure every noble in the empire knows that your so called underground ball is nothing more than a scheme to murder nobles. At that point, you may have to leave that filthy business to your son."

"Not a single copper will you get from me!" Simon snarled, grinding his teeth.

"That is enough."

Florine stopped Simon before turning her attention to Phield. She deliberately flaunted her alluring figure as she spoke in a gentle voice.

"Mr. Phield, we will compensate you. Please, just do not spread this matter."

"That depends on what you are willing to offer. Do not forget, I was only a step away from death."

Phield avoided Florine’s hand and narrowed his eyes.

"If the Ross family can blast through the fortresses of Bull and Maple Leaf, then they can blast through yours as well. You had better think carefully before provoking the wrath of a count."

If his family wanted to pretend nothing had happened and leave him to fend for himself, then he might as well make full use of the family name.

Everyone present suddenly stiffened. Even Sherry’s expression changed.

The room fell into a deathly silence.

After a moment, Florine finally nodded solemnly.

"Fine. You will be compensated. Right now."

The haggling continued until evening.

In the end, Simon, who was notoriously stingy, handed over the remaining sixteen mermaids to Phield as compensation.

He also provided one hundred and fifty Tier Two potions.

As for gold, Simon refused to give up a single coin. Phield argued until his throat went dry, yet he still failed to squeeze even one gold coin out of him.

After gathering his compensation and supplies, Phield quickly left Maple Leaf Territory, wanting nothing more to do with this troublesome place.

Watching Phield swagger away in the distance, Simon was furious.

"Damn it! Damn it! Florine, send the cavalry after him and kill him!"

"You are being foolish again, Simon. Calmness is a virtue every noble should possess."

Florine shook her head.

Simon had already calmed down, but the more he thought about the situation, the more something felt wrong. His eyes reddened.

"I am perfectly calm. I suspect Phield was the one who killed the Imperial Guards and framed us for it. He is the real culprit, and he simply left the scene after committing the crime! We should capture him immediately."

"Haah."

Florine let out a long sigh before speaking in a grim tone.

"My dear lord, this is exactly why you are being foolish. He and his subordinates were able to kill two Tier Three Divine Chosen without even realizing what was happening. That fact alone is terrifying enough."

"No... No way."

Simon froze for a moment before finally understanding what Florine meant.

By then, cold sweat had already soaked his back.

Meanwhile, Phield walked until evening before finally choosing a strategically advantageous location that was easy to defend and difficult to attack.

"Ashina, go patrol the area. Stay alert in case they try to ambush us."

"Mm-hm."

Ashina obediently nodded and had barely taken two steps when her expression suddenly became strange. She sniffed the air.

"They are here."

"That fast? Simon really cannot stand taking a loss."

Phield was startled.

"Uh, no, my lord."

Phield’s face reddened. He rose onto his toes and whispered,

"There is a smell that only appears when animals are mating. It is the Night Owl people. They seem extremely weak, though. They want to approach our camp, but they seem too afraid to come any closer."

After looking around, Phield opened his mini-map and carefully studied the surroundings for a moment before whispering,

"Let’s go take a look."

With Ashina’s exceptional senses, Phield quickly found the two members of Night Owl.

"Mm..."

Before they even came into view, Phield heard strange noises coming from the bushes.

"Good grief, they are completely out of it."

Phield shuddered.

"Florine’s combat ability really is no joke. That weakening ability is terrifying."

He pushed aside the bushes and immediately saw two pale figures.

The moment they saw Phield, they cried out in surprise, but soon changed to an almost pleading demeanor.

"Ah..."

The scene before him was far too shocking.

Phield tactfully averted his eyes, as if he could simply censor the sight himself to protect his pure heart.

"D, don’t worry about us. The negative status won’t last much longer."

Brinda forced herself to remain conscious.

"Yeah, right. If it were really that easy, why would you follow me all the way here?"

Phield laughed loudly but kept his distance.

"Now, tell me the truth. Were you planning to harm a noble?"

Brinda bit her lip.

"P, please help us. The antidote... please..."

"Medicine."

Joey was in an even worse state. The normally composed girl was now completely overwhelmed by the effects, unable to keep still.

Even Ashina could not help spitting to the side in disgust.

"What is wrong with them?"

"Hmph. I do have an antidote."

After confirming once again that there was no one else nearby on the mini-map, Phield spoke in a deliberately suggestive manner.

"But as a noble, I cannot possibly give an antidote to rebels. Unless you threaten me."

"Mm-hm. Give it to me, or I will kill you."

Brinda issued the threat in a weak, breathy voice.

"All right."

With Phield’s help, the two of them successfully recovered from the poisoned state.

The next day.

"I feel like I have earned myself a new title. The Miracle Doctor Phield."

Phield quietly took a sip of tea.

Brinda, who had regained her senses, stared at him with a grim expression.

"You bastard. You are absolutely shameless."

"Fair enough. I suppose I did keep the treatment to myself. If you two want to make trouble, I will just have my soldiers join the feast."

Phield stuffed another bite of breakfast into his mouth and mumbled,

"I have no idea how much effort it took to cure you, and this is how you thank me?"

"You should not have laid a hand on little Joey, you bastard!"

Brinda snatched the bread from Phield’s hand and waved it around angrily.

Joey hid behind Brinda, only daring to peek out with half her face visible. The moment she noticed Phield looking at her, she immediately ducked back behind Brinda.

"Whoa, hold on. So you are saying you just cured yourself and called it a day?"

Phield was stunned.

"That makes you the one keeping all the benefits to yourself!"

"You!"

Brinda was furious and looked ready to hit him, but when she noticed Ashina nearby, her anger gradually subsided.

Ashina looked absolutely furious and seemed almost ready to guard her food from anyone who came near.

For some reason, Brinda suddenly felt a chill.

"I have no idea why, but I feel like that maid of his is going to kill me if I keep this up."

She glanced at Ashina in confusion.

"How can I possibly sense killing intent from a demi-human maid? Good heavens, why do I feel this way?"

"Enough. Get out of my camp."

Now that daylight had arrived, there were too many eyes around. Phield waved impatiently.

What the hell was Night Owl supposed to be, anyway?

One after another, they came here either to freeload off him or squeeze something out of him. Was there no law in this world?

"I am leaving. Just pray I do not run into you on the battlefield. I will flatten you with one punch."

The two members of Night Owl left arrogantly, as if they had just completed their mission in the most satisfying manner possible.

Phield quickly finished his breakfast.

"Set out. Bring Charlotte and the others. We are heading back to Nightfall Domain. We still have plenty of work to do."
