"Second-Order Divine Skill, Solar Bombardment!"
Firomina tossed out the Nirvana Seed, and countless golden beams appeared in the sky, locking onto their targets and following the course of the river.
"Goddess above..."
Violet whispered as an endless barrage of golden light instantly blasted her eyes wide open.
Firomina and Rosalia took turns bombarding the area, completely wiping out the corpses from the mass grave.
Endless beams rained down, blasting open the floodwaters and reducing the corpses hidden beneath the surface to pieces.
Violet was already numb to it all.
The two women before her were disasters in human form. Their firepower was simply absurd.
The bombardment continued for three minutes before Firomina suddenly collapsed backward and fell asleep.
Phield hurriedly caught her, preventing her from falling off the corrupted dragon. He scolded her softly, "You idiot. The backlash was way too severe. You could’ve at least said something."
"Boom!"
Under the combined assault of the two women, countless corpses were reduced to ashes. The massive mass of corpses that had been blocking the riverbed no longer had enough bodies to hold itself together and finally collapsed completely.
With a tremendous roar, the lake water that had been dammed up upstream for so long suddenly came crashing down in a violent surge.
The river channel, which had been blocked for years, instantly became clear. The rushing water swept away the remaining corpses and debris, carrying everything toward the sea.
It was unbelievably satisfying to watch.
The surrounding water level immediately began dropping at a speed visible to the naked eye, exposing all kinds of ruined buildings that had been submerged for years.
"What a relief. The flood is finally gone." Phield felt incredibly refreshed. He raised his fist excitedly. "Give it two days. Once the ground dries and hardens, we can continue advancing."
There was no need to worry about polluting the ocean. As long as the ocean’s source ley lines had not been corrupted by a Corrupted Divine Chosen, this amount of contamination would have virtually no impact on the sea.
Besides, the corruption had already lasted for ten years. If it were going to pollute the ocean, it would have done so long ago.
Rosalia had released three consecutive slashes and was somewhat exhausted. "I’m hungry. I need to replenish my energy."
With that, she controlled the corrupted dragon and brought it beside the black dragon’s corpse before slamming one massive claw down.
The dragon’s corpse was smashed into pieces.
The corrupted dragon opened its jaws, and the black dragon’s remains transformed into streaks of blood and were frantically devoured.
"What a shame. Dragon bones are normally perfect for making high-grade equipment and weapons, but after being corrupted, they’ve become rather brittle." Rosalia planted her hands on her hips, looking disappointed. Suddenly, she looked toward the corrupted dragon’s stomach in confusion. "Huh? There was something inside this monster. My incarnation just swallowed it."
"Oh? We got some loot too." Phield immediately became excited.
"I didn’t expect that either." Rosalia immediately gave an order. "Spit it out."
"Urgh~"
A beautiful white orb fell to the ground, radiating an evil aura of corruption.
"It’s actually an artifact. This dragon sure had some luck." Rosalia picked up the orb and had Aikalia wash it before looking at it with disinterest. "It’s useless. A Zero-Order Artifact."
Violet also nodded thoughtfully. "That huge creature probably thought it had found something incredible and swallowed it. Only after it reached its stomach did it realize that the corrupted artifact was highly poisonous. In the end, it was directly infected by the artifact and turned into a monster."
"A Zero-Order Artifact? That’s a good thing."
Phield’s eyes lit up.
From beginning to end, none of the Zero-Order Artifacts he had encountered had ever been useless. Moreover, Zero-Order Artifacts were generally consumable items that could be used by Divine Chosen of almost any rank.
Phield took the orb and bound it to himself. Its information immediately appeared before him.
Artifact: Fool’s Orb
Zero-Order, Consumable
Description: Reduces a Divine Chosen back to the first tier. All Divine Skills, talents, and artifacts return to their first-tier state.
Special Effect: A portion of the divine power that is lost will be stored inside the Fool’s Orb, allowing other Corrupted Divine Chosen to inherit it.
"This thing is pretty useful. I knew there were no useless Zero-Order treasures." Phield nodded repeatedly.
Rosalia scratched her head. "Huh? How is something this pathetic actually useful? I don’t want to go back to the first tier."
"You didn’t mess up your skill build, so of course you don’t want to return to the first tier. It’s better suited for people who invested their abilities in the wrong places. Besides, if we capture a powerful Corrupted Divine Chosen and force her to use the orb, her divine power will become ours."
Phield rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "From what I’ve observed, a lot of Corrupted Divine Chosen have completely messed-up abilities."
"Now that you put it that way, it does have some uses."
"Exactly. We’ll deal with that later. For now, let’s return to the temporary military camp and rest. The moment the ground is passable, we’ll send the army out."
Phield secured the orb against his body and led everyone back to the temporary camp to rest.
"Woo~"
A naval horn sounded.
Dense ranks of corrupted corpses dressed in white linen emerged from Bluewater City, while all kinds of aquatic monsters swam around them.
The corrupted lord, Aonai, dragged the lower half of his octopus body onto a ruined building and roared at the top of his lungs.
"Corrupted ones, drag the living into the abyss!"
"Roar! Roar! Roar!"
The corrupted corpses roared in response, creating a scene of absolute chaos.
"Not bad. Everyone says the corruption in the three outer territories is weak, but I think they’ve got plenty of spirit." Stasia, Frenita’s little attendant, laughed happily. "They’ll definitely teach the humans a memorable lesson."
Frenita gave her order. "Devour the human army that has ventured outside."
"My beautiful Frenita, my adorable little star, the corrupted army has been fully assembled. I guarantee you, they are invincible!"
Aonai looked incredibly smug as he presented the corrupted army to Frenita. "Phield? A worthless fool I could erase with a wave of my hand. Humans are utterly helpless before the calamity."
"Do you hear that?"
Frenita frowned and rose onto her snow-white toes, gazing into the distance.
"It sounds like rumbling."
"What could it possibly be?"
Aonai paid it no mind.
But the very next moment, he froze.
A surging flood came rushing toward them, blotting out the sky.
"What?"
Aonai rubbed his eyes with his octopus tentacles, unable to believe what he was seeing.
The blockage had lasted for ten years. Even if he racked his brain, he could never have imagined what had happened.
"Whoa!"
As the saying went, water and fire showed no mercy.
The corrupted corpses that had only just finished forming their battle lines were instantly hit by the devastating flood.
Even aquatic corpses could not withstand the sudden torrent.
Some were crushed beneath the raging water and scattered everywhere. Countless others were killed after being struck by debris, while an immeasurable number were simply swept away by the current.
After twenty minutes of relentless flooding, the torrent gradually weakened and eventually receded, revealing the muddy ground beneath.
"Goddess above..."
Everyone standing on higher ground stared at one another in stunned silence.
They could only watch helplessly as the army that had just finished assembling was scattered by the flood, leaving behind barely half of its original number.
"Uh..." Aonai was completely dumbfounded. "How did this happen?"
One moment he had been acting like an arrogant fool, and the next, reality had slapped him so hard that his entire face felt swollen.
Frenita rolled her eyes at him.
"I’ll regroup the army," Aonai said awkwardly. "Please give me some time."
...
Two days later, Frenita stepped out of the lord’s palace and climbed onto the city wall to get some fresh air.
Suddenly, she spotted several scattered dots in the distance.
