The Extra Who Inherited Ragnarok

Chapter 121: Balance Of Both Side

Noah fell.

There was no ground.

No wind.

No sense of direction.

Only darkness swallowing him deeper and deeper.

Then,

THUMP!

His body hit something solid.

Noah groaned and slowly pushed himself up.

A black floor stretched endlessly beneath him.

He looked around.

The darkness had changed.

Tall, broken pillars surrounded him.

Chains hung from somewhere above, disappearing into the void.

And in the distance,

Ragnarok Dead Zone stood silently.

Noah wiped blood from the corner of his mouth.

"You could’ve just invited me."

You wouldn’t have come.

"You’re right."

Dead Zone slowly walked closer.

Noah immediately raised his fists.

The figure stopped.

Then laughed.

Still pretending you can fight me?

Noah’s expression darkened.

"I don’t know until I try."

For the first time, Dead Zone seemed amused.

Good.

The darkness trembled.

Noah suddenly felt something grab his ankle.

He looked down.

Black hands burst from the floor.

"What the—?!"

They dragged him downward.

Noah punched one of them.

BOOM!

The hand exploded into dark fragments.

Another grabbed his arm.

Then his shoulder.

Noah struggled.

More appeared.

Dozens.

Hundreds.

"GET OFF!"

A violent burst of mana exploded from Noah.

BOOOOOOM!

The hands disappeared.

Noah landed several meters away, breathing heavily.

Dead Zone hadn’t moved.

That power.

Noah glared at him.

You still don’t understand it.

"What are you?"

The question escaped Noah before he could stop himself.

Dead Zone tilted its head.

You know my name.

"That’s not what I asked."

Silence.

Noah slowly stood.

"I know you’re Ragnarok Dead Zone."

His voice became firmer.

"But what are you to me?"

Dead Zone’s crimson eyes narrowed.

The chains above them rattled.

A possibility.

Noah frowned.

"A possibility?"

The version of you that doesn’t stop.

The words made Noah still.

Dead Zone stepped closer.

You hesitate.

Another step.

You restrain yourself.

Another.

You fear what happens when you stop caring about the consequences.

Noah clenched his fists.

"I’m not you."

Dead Zone smiled.

That’s what makes this entertaining.

Suddenly

BANG!

Noah disappeared.

Dead Zone’s eyes widened slightly.

Noah’s fist appeared directly in front of him.

CRACK!

The punch landed.

Dead Zone’s head turned slightly.

Silence.

Noah stared.

His hand hurt.

Dead Zone slowly turned back.

There wasn’t even a mark on his face.

Better.

Noah’s stomach dropped.

Dead Zone grabbed his wrist.

Then

BOOOOM!

Noah was thrown across the black world.

He crashed through one of the pillars.

Pain exploded through his body.

He coughed.

Dead Zone appeared beside him.

Again.

Noah looked up.

"What?"

Fight me again.

Noah’s eyes narrowed.

He stood.

His body hurt.

But his fists rose again.

Dead Zone smiled.

For the first time, Noah understood something.

This wasn’t a nightmare.

And it wasn’t simply a conversation.

Ragnarok Dead Zone was testing him.

Noah rushed forward.

Their fists collided.

BOOM!

The entire dark world shook.

Outside,

Noah’s body lay motionless on his bed.

His breathing became uneven.

A faint reddish-pink aura flickered around him.

Then disappeared.

For half a second—

His eyes opened.

The color was wrong.

Deep red.

With thin traces of darkness moving through them.

Then—

His eyes closed again.

And the room returned to silence.

BOOM!

Noah’s fist collided with Dead Zone’s palm.

The impact tore through the black world.

Cracks spread beneath Noah’s feet.

He immediately pulled back and attacked again.

Left.

Right.

A kick.

Another punch.

Dead Zone blocked everything.

Noah gritted his teeth.

"Stand still!"

Why?

Dead Zone caught his next punch.

So you can convince yourself you’re stronger?

Noah twisted his body and drove his knee upward.

Dead Zone moved his head.

Noah missed.

Then—

BANG!

A fist slammed into Noah’s stomach.

His body folded.

Before he could recover, Dead Zone grabbed him by the neck and lifted him from the ground.

Noah clawed at his hand.

"Let... go..."

You are weak here.

Noah glared at him.

Dead Zone’s crimson eyes remained cold.

Do you know why?

Noah didn’t answer.

Because you still believe this isn’t real.

Dead Zone threw him away.

Noah crashed across the dark floor.

He rolled several times before stopping.

His vision blurred.

Pain spread through his body.

But he slowly stood again.

Dead Zone watched him.

Again.

Noah wiped his mouth.

"You’re enjoying this."

A little.

Noah rushed forward.

This time, he didn’t attack immediately.

Dead Zone raised an eyebrow.

Noah suddenly disappeared to the side.

His fist came toward Dead Zone’s ribs.

Dead Zone blocked.

But Noah was already moving.

He spun behind him.

A reddish-pink aura flickered around his arm.

BOOOOM!

The punch landed.

For the first time—

Dead Zone moved backward.

Noah froze.

Dead Zone looked down at his chest.

Then slowly looked at Noah.

Noah smiled.

"I got you."

Silence.

Then Dead Zone laughed.

It began quietly.

But it grew.

The sound echoed throughout the endless darkness.

Noah’s smile disappeared.

There you are.

"What?"

Dead Zone raised his hand.

The reddish-pink energy around Noah suddenly flickered.

Then—

ZZZZZT!

The pink began disappearing.

Thin traces of deep red emerged beneath it.

Noah stared at his own hands.

"What are you doing?"

Nothing.

Dead Zone’s smile widened.

I’m showing you something you’ve refused to see.

The aura changed again.

Red.

Then

Black.

Thin black streaks twisted through the crimson energy.

Noah’s heartbeat quickened.

"No."

Yes.

The entire world shook.

Chains above them violently rattled.

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

Noah grabbed his head.

A terrible pressure filled his mind.

Memories that weren’t his flashed before his eyes.

Blood.

Fire.

A sword.

Screaming.

Then

Three moons.

Noah dropped to one knee.

"Stop..."

Dead Zone slowly approached him.

You want to know why I’m here?

Noah looked up.

Dead Zone stood directly before him.

Then survive long enough to understand.

Suddenly, everything froze.

A blue screen appeared.

Even Dead Zone looked toward it.

[WARNING.]

[RAGNAROK DEAD ZONE RESONANCE INCREASING.]

[CURRENT RESONANCE: 1%]

Noah stared.

"One percent?"

Dead Zone’s expression became unreadable.

The screen flickered again.

[HOST CONSCIOUSNESS UNDER EVALUATION.]

[DO NOT LOSE CONTROL.]

Then—

The system disappeared.

Noah slowly stood.

Dead Zone was already walking away.

"Wait."

Dead Zone stopped.

Noah stared at his back.

"What happens when it reaches one hundred percent?"

Silence.

For several seconds, nothing moved.

Then Dead Zone slightly turned his head.

One crimson eye looked back at Noah.

Let’s hope you never find out.

The black world shattered.

Noah suddenly opened his eyes.

He was back in his room.

Morning light entered through the window.

His body was covered in sweat.

His heart pounded violently.

Noah slowly sat up.

Then looked toward the mirror.

His reflection stared back.

Normal.

He walked closer.

Nothing changed.

No strange smile.

No crimson eyes.

No shadow.

Noah exhaled.

"One percent..."

His door suddenly opened.

Eric stood outside.

"Noah, are you awake?"

Noah turned.

"Yeah."

Eric paused.

Then stared at him.

"...Why do you look like you fought a war?"

Noah looked down at himself.

Then back at Eric.

"You wouldn’t believe me if I told you."

Eric smiled.

"Try me."

Noah walked past him.

"No."

Eric blinked.

"Okay. Rude."

As Noah stepped into the hallway, the system appeared one final time.

Only for him.

[CURRENT RANK: F]

The letter flickered.

F.

F.

Then—

A.

Noah stopped walking.

The screen vanished.

Eric turned around.

"What now?"

Noah stared ahead.

His expression slowly darkened.

"...Nothing."

But this time—

He knew something was changing.

And whatever was waiting inside him...

Had only just begun waking up.
