The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1997: Patience Not Necessary

Patience was also not necessary today. The spectacle of a Legendary Skill Book generation had alerted everyone within five hundred kilometres that there was a treasure here, and the Guild Leaders had felt it from thousands of kilometres away.

Even the Blue Elves at sea had sent an emergency message from the fleet to their home city, telling them to check on the Darklight Host, as they couldn’t get back to the city fast enough with the ships.

That brought even more people, as the other ships that were ashore doing business shared the information for profit, alerting dozens of Clans too far from the Darklight Host to feel the birth of the treasure that there was something Legendary present within the city.

"How long do you think that we have before someone challenges us for the city?" Luminaria asked as the first Clan Leaders teleported into town.

Father Oak laughed. "With me here, and all of you, I doubt that there is an alliance on this planet that could actually win. My bet is that they scout today and then come back to make a challenge on a day when they think that most of the Branch’s defenders are gone.

They all know that we’re a crafting Guild, so they’ll assume that we need the numbers for safety.

If I’m right, the first time that Karl and Rue go on an extended trip together, the Guild will be attacked. Nobody knows the background of the rest of you, and they’ll assume that you’re pushovers."

That made the others laugh. Even a pushover from the Darklight Host’s Divine Battlefield branches was no less dangerous than Rue Gathuzan at the same Rank.

If any alliance dared to attack, they would definitely try to improve on Rue’s 7 out of 10 score from the last alliance battle.

Karl raised a hand in welcome for the Clan Leaders who were afraid to approach the Darklight Host members. "Welcome friends, strangers, Dave. It’s good to see you all here in the Darklight Host’s Blackwoods Guild Branch again. Sorry to interrupt your day, but we’ve had a major development here in the Guild Compound, and I think that you’re all going to like it."

"So, you know what the legendary treasure is?" Lord Almeixei asked.

"Naturally, since we made it.

With a bit of Legendary guidance, I present to you the Darklight Dungeon, the first artificial dungeon instance made by the Darklight Host on this world. It is a true dungeon instance, linked to the System, with rewards for completion, and variable difficulty.

So, you can make it easy for your new acolytes, or absolute Hell for your ambitious Elders.

The rewards will improve with every difficulty rating, and the dungeon is balanced against the group, so feel free to go inside and see what you can find."

Karl’s words froze the Sect Leader in place. "You made a Legendary treasure. As in crafted. And it’s truly Legendary?"

Karl’s smile scared the Sect Leader a little, but not for any reason that he could immediately identify. It should have looked welcoming and happy, but there was something behind it that was just wrong.

"You have evolved," he realized.

"Yes, thank you for noticing. There was a recent opportunity here in the city, and the rewards were wonderful. It greatly helped us with this new development as well. So, what do you say? Willing to gather up a group and take them inside?

If you’ll give us a full report of what you find, we won’t charge any entry fee today."

The Sect Leader shook his head. No way was he being the first one to test that thing. Even if the System said it was Legendary, that didn’t mean that it was safe, or even survivable.

"I will send a group of Peak Immortal Elders instead. They need the opportunity more than I do."

Father Oak chuckled, knowing what the old Supreme was thinking.

Rue smiled at the Sect Leader. "No rush, we’ve got lovely benches, and a fine variety of shops available for your pleasure. Perhaps some potions or growth pills to help your Elders maximize their chances?

We’ve developed two new recipes in conjunction with the New Home Merchant Clan that assist the growth of Immortals.

They’re mostly made for the Void State, but they’re technically useful all the way to the Supreme Ranked bottleneck."

Remi gave the dragon a silent thumbs up. That was excellent salesmanship.

Lord Almeixei sighed. "I can’t tell if this is the greatest opportunity for the region in millennia, or the greatest money making scam I’ve ever seen."

"Why can’t it be both?

We’re a crafting Guild, we get rich by making everyone around us more powerful. That’s how it’s always been for those with crafting skills. And now, we’ve got our own personal dungeon here in the city, and we’re throwing a welcoming party for the first group of Clans that want to give it a try."

The Sect Leader, and the Clan Leaders who had gathered close enough to hear, all began to chuckle. Indeed, that was the way that it usually went for crafting Guilds, until they were absorbed by someone more powerful.

They made items that benefitted others, and then they were taken over by those who now had the power, and all that wealth was reclaimed.

But this time, they weren’t so sure that anyone would be able to take over the Darklight Host, unless they did it from the inside with a planted infiltrator during the next succession for leadership.

Most Guilds held it once a century, even if the leadership wasn’t going to change.

It was a good show that the leader deserved their position, and a chance for the Elders with grievances to air them before the Clan, and keep the group on the right path. Even Clan Leader Nerissa did it once a century, just to see if anyone wanted the job.

Though, she knew nobody could take it, as she was still the only Supreme in the New Home Merchant Clan.
