Chapter 261: Chapter 234: Divine Eyes

Sofia looked around blankly, finding herself standing in ankle-deep water. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a boundless expanse of water. This entire world was nothing more than a placid pool.

Calling it a pool wasn’t quite right, though, since the water only came up to her calves.

After scanning her surroundings, she took a tentative step in one direction. SPLASH. The space didn’t change at all, only a ripple spread outward from her movement.

"Where am I?" Sofia muttered to herself.

Recalling all the magical and otherwise mysterious events she had ever experienced, she was quite certain she was in an Illusion Realm. ’Interesting. Is this the consequence of spying on that goblin?’

Thinking back to what had happened, she clenched her fists. She then looked down at her own body, trying to sense any changes. ’No major issues.’

’It seems there’s nothing here. I should be safe for now.’ Sofia patted down her clothes, her movements sending more ripples across the water. Then she slowly raised her head, ready to look for a way out.

But just as she looked up, she froze. Not far ahead, the back of a figure had abruptly appeared in the water.

’That height... green skin?’ Sofia frowned. ’From the back, it looks like the leader of that goblin horde.’

Shire stood with his back to her in the pool, as motionless as a statue.

"Goblin," Sofia tried calling out, but it had no effect. Shire remained standing quietly in place. ’How strange.’

Sofia waded a few steps closer, planning to go over and pat him. She reasoned that since spying on him had brought her into this Illusion Realm, perhaps touching him was the way out.

She took several more steps, but she couldn’t get any closer to the goblin. Ripples continuously spread across the water’s surface, and they even seemed to refract when they hit the goblin, but Sofia just couldn’t get near Shire.

’Strange. It’s as if there’s a fixed distance between us. No matter how I try to get closer, he always seems to be just ahead of me.’ Sofia bit her lip, then decided to try shouting.

"Goblin!" she shouted. She had underestimated the leader of this clan before and hadn’t bothered to learn his name, so now "goblin" would have to do.

As she shouted again and again, Shire’s back finally changed. A white light slowly emanated from it, and a pair of white wings unfurled.

Sofia bit her lip, staring at the enormous, fully extended white wings. They looked just like a swan’s. ’There’s something off about this guy. How can a goblin undergo a transformation like this?’

Musing that there was something strange about this goblin, Shire, Sofia started to recall everything that had happened. ’Could he have another identity?’

The thought of the eyes she saw at the very end made her uneasy. ’Those eyes seemed to be filled with Divinity.’

As if in response, the moment Sofia thought of eyes, a pair of black, circular patterns abruptly materialized on the white wings before her. Sofia stared blankly at the wings for a few seconds, then suddenly realized the black circles were constantly moving.

"That’s..." Sofia’s eyes widened in shock, and she stumbled back several steps. "Those are a pair of eyes."

The white wings and black circles formed a pair of enormous eyes, and at that moment, the black "pupils" were staring intently at Sofia.

The intense panic and discomfort washed over her again, and a whispering sound seemed to fill her ears. Sofia immediately pressed a hand to her forehead and lowered her head. ’What is going on with this goblin? How can his soul possess such powerful Divinity?’

As the whispering grew louder and more chaotic, she gradually felt a throbbing headache. This was not a murmur she could withstand.

Just as Sofia was gritting her teeth and holding on, she suddenly heard a voice through the murmurs. "Miss Sofia, Miss Sofia."

’Someone is calling me.’ Sofia raised her head in astonishment, only to meet those eyes once more. This time, an intense white light rushed toward her, engulfing her vision completely.

When Sofia’s eyes adjusted to the light, she looked at the scene before her and found several goblins standing around her. Not only was Shire at her side, but Little John and the little goblin Shan Xi Ao were there too, along with a Ghost Witch.

"Thank heavens, you’re finally awake," Shire said, letting out a sigh of relief.

"I’m awake?" Sofia surveyed her surroundings to find herself lying on a bed. The wooden bed frame looked quite ordinary, but the mattress and furs were very soft and warm.

"You fainted earlier," said Shan Xi Ao, flapping his wings to hover in front of Sofia. "Did you use too much Magic Power transforming so many times?"

Sofia held out her hand, letting the little goblin land in her palm. "No, perhaps I was just a little tired."

She didn’t mention what she had seen, just offering an excuse to brush it off.

"As long as you’re okay. You should rest some more. We won’t disturb you." Seeing this, Shire immediately prepared to have the others leave to let Miss Druid rest. Perhaps she would recover on her own after a while.

After the others filed out of the room, Shire stayed behind last. "I’ll have Yun Xiya come take care of you. She’s Shan Xi Ao’s older sister, and she’s not as noisy as that boy. I think she should be able to help you recover more quickly. If you need anything else, you can tell Yun Xiya. I’ll fulfill any request I’m able to."

Yun Xiya’s Healing Spells were very powerful, much stronger than her younger brother’s. Although Shan Xi Ao now possessed the [Favor of the Tree People] and was growing quickly, he was still far behind his sister.

"Um, Leader," Sofia said quickly, seeing Shire was about to leave.

"Hmm? What is it?" Shire turned and returned to her bedside, asking with a smile. "Go ahead and ask."

Sofia considered for a moment. She recalled everything she had experienced—the giant black pupils, and the powerful Divinity she had sensed in what might have been an Illusion Realm or a dream.

"I want to ask you something." Sofia looked at the goblin before her. He had green skin, a mouth full of sharp teeth, and a bald pate between his long, pointed ears. His short body was clad in surprisingly well-made, warm fur clothing, and the shoes on his feet looked like an oversized pair of children’s shoes, completely at odds with his status as a goblin.

After taking a deep breath, Sofia finally asked her question.

"Green Egg," she said, recalling the word from the other goblins’ chatter. Having been around 600 of them, she’d at least managed to understand that much.

"Have you ever heard of the Divine Chosen One?"
