THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1015: Three Sore Losers.

A human was the first to become a Dao Lord, not a dragon, an heavenly eagle, or an elemental. Just as the dragons had thought and expected to happen, this Dao Lord began to suppress them.

To be fair, Tepid Scholar didn’t target only them, and he didn’t target them out of spite. Tepid Scholar was just throwing his weight around in an attempt to get as many benefits as possible. So Tepid Scholar suppressed everyone who wasn’t a Dao Lord equally.

Recalling those bad days, the dragon emperor smirked and said, "He likes to pretend to be a scholar, but he can be barbaric at times. He especially likes to conquer and control worlds too. What a pretender!"

"In fact, if not for the fact that he didn’t have enough power to mobilize in the Sea of Worlds, he would have killed every rank 9 Dao Initiate and prevented anyone else from becoming a Dao Lord to share his power."

Chuckling to himself, he said, "Now he has been overtaken by someone who used to be his junior. He even lost to that junior. What a loser?"

But then he remembered something that made him frown and say, "Come to think of it, maybe our situation wouldn’t have been this bad if he had succeeded in killing every rank 9 Dao Initiate and stopping everyone from becoming Dao Lords. At least, he would have stopped Martial Will and Black Chains from becoming Dao Lords and terrorizing us."

When he thought of this possibility, he snorted and said, "That damn Tepid Scholar. He really is useless."

"He couldn’t stop a stupid horn fiend and a half-breed dragon from becoming Dao Lords. How useless can one be?"

The more he spoke, the angrier he became. He didn’t get angry at the dragon god and the other dragons that failed to become Dao Lords, though. Instead, he focused all of his anger on Tepid Scholar.

To be fair, Tepid Scholar is part of the main reason the dragon race is doing poorly. After all, Tepid Scholar did kill the first dragon to succeed in becoming a Dao Lord.

Tepid Scholar couldn’t do much to the rank 9 Dao Initiates, but as it turned out, he could lie in wait for them to advance. Then he ambushed them as soon as they advanced and killed them while they were still weak.

So Tepid Scholar had to be blamed for the current state of the dragon race. If he couldn’t be blamed for the fact that he killed the dragon that became a Dao Lord, then he had to be blamed because he failed to kill the other Dao Lords that came after.

Because of Tepid Scholar’s ineptitude, other rank 9 Dao Initiates managed to become Dao Lords and escape from him. This allowed Tepid Scholar to share the achievement for the downfall of the dragon race with people like Martial Will, Black Chains, and the Human Emperor.

Martial Will was a member of the giant race. The giants used to compete with the dragons for control of the dragon court. Back then, it wasn’t the dragon court yet.

Back then, it was only called the nine seats of power. It wasn’t until the dragons took control of the whole nine seats that it became the dragon court. Then they used their power to wipe out the giant race.

The giant race only appeared in the Blessed Heaven World, so it was easy to kill every single one of them. Or so they thought.

One of the giants survived the genocide of his race. That giant also managed to become a Dao Lord before any dragon could. What that giant did to the dragons once he came into power was something no one was surprised about.

Then there was the half-breed dragon created of the union of a dragon and a monkey. That half-breed had been discriminated against since he was born and enslaved by the dragon race.

As a slave, the half-breed was supposed to live, work, and die working for his dragon masters. But for some reason, the godforsaken half-breed also got the opportunity to become a Dao Lord.

Finally, there was the Human Emperor. This particular human was still salty about the time a dragon ate his family.

The thought of the human emperor made him snort and say, "Like eating humans is a crime."

"They are small, soft, and bite-sized hairless monkeys that reproduce very quickly. If that doesn’t look like something that should be reared and eaten, I don’t know what is."

Dragons liked to eat humans. According to the Human Emperor, that was a crime that they couldn’t be forgiven for.

Tepid Scholar hadn’t targeted the dragon race specifically, but Martial Will, Black Chains, and the Human Emperor had all tried their best to eradicate the dragon race throughout the Sea of Worlds.

Martial Will liked killing dragons, skinning them, and wearing their skins. Black Chains liked enslaving dragons. Only the Human Emperor was hell-bent on killing for killing’s sake.

The combined might of three Dao Lords working around the clock to kill every dragon pushed them to the brink of extinction. For a time, dragons everywhere were vilified and hunted as sinners of the world.

Just thinking about it made his head swell in anger. And when he was angry about something like this, he couldn’t restrain himself from complaining.

This time, he raised his voice and said, "What a bunch of sore losers! They were weak, yet they blame us for using our strength to take what was rightfully ours."

Then, in the next breath, he said, "They must think they are something great using their power as Dao Lords to bully dragons. What kind of evil people bully those who can’t defend themselves?"

After grumbling some more and calling them names, he said, "They are strong, though. And they would have succeeded in wiping us out too. If not Heavenly Eye protecting us, we would be done for."
