THE GOD EATER

Chapter 858: Who Got The Dragon?

After she realized what was going on, she smiled and said, "It should be someone who hadn’t signed a contract with me who got the dragon. That will explain why I am not getting anything even though the dragon had been captured."

At this point, she became anxious while speaking. She even stood up as she said, "There are many people who didn’t sign the contract of collaboration with me. But there are very few people who expressed happiness for not employing my services."

"In fact, there is only one person who told me with joy to go and suck it. They went from trying to beg me to reduce my request in the negotiation to telling me that I’ve missed out and will regret being greedy."

As she said this, a memory of what Forced Exchange had done a few minutes ago flashed through her mind.

One moment, Forced Exchange was saying in frustration and anger, "You’re asking for too much. Your job is to give us information. Our job is to hunt. We are taking all of the risk here, so you shouldn’t ask for so much."

Then, Forced Exchange suddenly became joyful and said, "You know what? We don’t need your help. You can go and suck it."

"This is all your fault, you know. A little greed is reasonable and would have been allowed. But you were too greedy, so you will regret it."

After they said this, Forced Exchange cut off communication with her and stopped talking to her. She had scoffed and called him a poor miser when he said these things to her. Then she went ahead with helping others.

She hadn’t thought much about Forced Exchange’s behavior at the time because she could still sense the dragon’s location. It was much later that the dragon disappeared from her senses.

But now that no one had sighted the dragon for so long, and there was a general consensus that the dragon was dead, the way Forced Exchange had behaved was now standing out to her.

Her mind raced as he said, "Yes. It must be him who got the dragon. It must be Forced Exchange and the Thorn House of Commerce who got the dragon."

"The dragon has disappeared, but they are still alive. That means, at the very least, they should know where the dragon is right now. So anyone who wants to know where the dragon is should ask them."

After coming to this conclusion, she immediately reached out to the people she was still working with to tell them about her discovery. This was in hopes that they would gain something with the information.

If these people gain something from her information, they will have to give her a cut of it. This is why she also contacted those who had discarded the contract they had made with her. She used the information as a bargaining chip to sign a new contract.

She simply couldn’t help herself. From what she had discovered, there was the possibility of gaining some benefits. It was unlikely to be of much benefit. But it was something, and she was unwilling to give it up.

If her suspicion turned out to be true, the more people know about it, the more people will pressure the Thorn House of Commerce, and the more benefits she stands to gain. So she didn’t hold back in telling people what she discovered.

All of the people she told immediately began looking for the people of the Thorn House of Commerce. They were also using the divine constellation to reach out to the Money Body and the other members of the Thorn House of Commerce to know if they got the dragon.

This could be considered as the second impact of the dragon’s actions in the second heaven. Over a hundred divine beings were suddenly badgering the Thorn House of Commerce about the dragon.

At first, everyone was just trying their luck. They didn’t have much hope that the Thorn House of Commerce was in possession of the dragon. But the fact that the people of the Thorn House of Commerce didn’t say anything to anyone quickly made them change their minds.

Money Body, Forced Exchange, and the others could have denied the claims that they knew where the dragon was. People would still be suspicious, but most people would waver and give up.

But Money Body and the others didn’t accept any request for communication, and neither denied nor confirmed that they knew where the dragon was. This fueled the suspicion that they were hiding something to a white-hot intensity.

And when people like Star Divination tried to find Forced Exchange, but failed to lock on to him, they became extra sure that the Thorn House of Commerce was hoarding the dragon somewhere. This caused the hunt for the dragon to become a hunt for the dragon and the Thorn House of Commerce.

The pursuit of the dragon, which had lost momentum, quickly picked up after this. Everyone was motivated to start looking for the dragon again, and it looked like they wouldn’t stop until either the dragon or Forced Exchange had been found.

But as determined as everyone was, their motivation took a pause, and their momentum stalled when Forced Exchange and Money Speed died.

Everyone had to reevaluate the value of their lives and the value of the dragon against the risk of dying in the hunt when two Divine Positions, belonging to the Money Pathway, suddenly dimmed.

No one knew who had died when the two Divine Positions dimmed. After all, no one could tell who a Divine Position belonged to just from looking at the divine constellation.

Plus, whatever had killed the divine beings in possession of the two Divine Positions had done so in an area beyond the oversight of the Blessed Heaven World. So there was no way to use the divine constellation to quickly find who had died. This essentially rendered them blind about who had died and where they had died.
