The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 2530 - 2529: There’s Definitely Something Wrong

The fire meteor whistled across the sky and, in the blink of an eye, crashed to the ground.

But because of the terrain and distance, Ling Feng couldn’t see where the fire meteor landed, either with his naked eye or his Divine Sense.

It was obvious, though—this thing had fallen from outer space!

Glancing back at Li Chunxi, Ling Feng asked, "Did anything come to mind?"

"Uh..."

Li Chunxi’s eyes were blank; after thinking for a moment she said, "The earliest members of the Devil Clan also came to our world this way. I didn’t expect new ones to still be rushing over even now, this matter..."

"Is very serious, right?" Ling Feng asked.

"Yeah, I really want to know what that fire meteor is!" Li Chunxi nodded.

"We’ll find out soon enough. Let’s go!"

Ling Feng said, then stowed away the table and chairs.

The two of them immediately sped off toward the city.

A dozen or so kilometers later, Ling Feng’s Divine Sense picked up a still-smoking spot.

That was where the fire meteor had hit the ground; the area was littered with black fragments, and in the center of the debris there was a large crater.

Smoke was rising from the pit, and inside lay a round object that had already been opened.

Other than that, there were no signs of life around.

Ling Feng froze for a moment, feeling like he’d just missed something.

It took him a bit to realize: the Empress of Starlight had already fully scouted this place and confirmed there was an Underground City here.

If he guessed right, the moment the fire meteor crashed, people from the Devil Clan had already rushed over, taking away whatever—or whoever—had been inside that round object!

Ling Feng silently clicked his tongue in regret, but didn’t say anything to Li Chunxi and just kept walking forward.

As he walked, Ling Feng was also revising his plan in his head. Originally, he’d intended to find a Devil Clan member and interrogate them for information, but as he got closer to the city, he realized there wasn’t a single Devil Clan member outside the city!

All those weird-looking, half-human monsters were living inside the city.

The chance of catching someone alone was practically zero!

So after a while, Ling Feng suddenly stopped, turned back to Li Chunxi, and said, "I might have to touch you."

"Huh?"

Li Chunxi was stunned on the spot, eyes going wide as she stammered, "Y-you, what are you trying to do?"

"Don’t get the wrong idea. I mean we need to disguise ourselves as members of the Devil Clan to enter the city. Walking in looking fully human is way too easy to blow our cover," Ling Feng said.

"You can make me up to look like a monster?" Li Chunxi asked.

"I can give it a try!" Ling Feng nodded.

Li Chunxi looked completely dumbfounded, and cautiously asked, "I-isn’t there any other way? Won’t it be really ugly?"

"Are you afraid of being ugly, or are you just not okay with me touching your body?" Ling Feng asked.

"Uh... both," Li Chunxi said awkwardly.

"Alright, we can skip the makeup, but then you’ll have to go into my Jade Token Space," Ling Feng said.

"What do you mean?" Li Chunxi asked.

"It’s a special space. Living beings can maintain their consciousness inside; it’s different from a storage space," Ling Feng said.

"Oh, that works then!"

To Li Chunxi, it sounded like she’d grabbed a life-saving straw, and she hurriedly nodded.

Ling Feng was speechless, and with a chuckle he said, "Fine. When we reach the edge of the city, I’ll send you in. Leave going into the city and scouting to me."

"Okay!"

Li Chunxi nodded.

They continued on their way. Not long after, around midnight, they were only a few kilometers from the city.

By now they could already see the tall city in the distance. The walls were massive, built from Giant Rocks, lit up with countless lights.

Ling Feng looked back at Li Chunxi. "Alright, stop following me. Go rest in the Jade Token Space."

"Okay!"

Li Chunxi nodded, then asked, "How do I get in?"

"Uh, I still need to touch your hand," Ling Feng said.

"..."

Li Chunxi was at a loss for words. After a brief silence, she stomped her foot and said, "Forget it. You’re not from the Li Dynasty anyway; no need to stick to old rules!"

With that, she raised her small hand.

Ling Feng was puzzled, but didn’t ask. He grabbed her hand, and with a thought, she vanished, sent into the Jade Token Space.

Then, looking at the distant city wall, Ling Feng directly activated the Invisibility Ring and took to the air!

A moment later, he reached the top of the wall. Just as he was about to slip in, several dozen streaks of cold light whooshed up from below!

"What the hell?"

Ling Feng was baffled—he was invisible, how were they still able to detect him?

He twisted his body to dodge the attack, and the city wall erupted in gongs and alarms!

Seeing this, Ling Feng darted into the city, then immediately dove into a cluster of buildings!

The top of the wall was still in chaos, but he had already zigzagged his way into the city’s depths.

Thinking back on what had just happened, Ling Feng recalled the few monsters he’d seen on the wall—two of them had compound eyes on their heads like a fly’s, and he instantly understood!

These were creatures with infrared vision!

Even though he was invisible, they could still see the heat his body was giving off!

Realizing this, Ling Feng clicked his tongue. "This Devil Clan really does have some tricks up their sleeve!"

He was now in the middle of a cluster of earthen houses. The city’s architecture was a mess, all sorts of styles mixed together—some buildings were wooden structures, some were cellars dug into the ground, some were rammed earth, and some were stacked stone, a complete hodgepodge.

Ling Feng had already scanned the city; the creatures here were all kinds of shapes and sizes—on Earth, they’d all be animals that had awakened Spiritual Wisdom.

That was extremely rare back on his Earth, but here, there were more than ten million of them.

Most of what Ling Feng had seen so far could only transform themselves into half-human, half-beast forms; he’d almost never seen one that could fully take human shape.

From Ling Feng’s perspective, that level wasn’t worth mentioning.

Even if they could fully transform into humans, they still wouldn’t be his match.

But he wasn’t here to fight this time. After scanning for a while, Ling Feng quickly locked onto a particular group.

This group looked similar to humans, with comparable limbs and torsos. The only differences were their heavier body hair and their rather ugly facial features.

But that made them the easiest to imitate.

So he found a quiet spot and got to work, spending over half an hour turning himself into someone else.

When he was done, he checked himself in a mirror and felt very satisfied with his Art of Disguise.

There was still one thing left—the language.

Fortunately, Ling Feng’s talent for languages was still there. After keeping his Divine Sense focused on that race for a short while, he had mastered their chattering speech.

From here on, the infiltration mission had officially begun!
