The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 117 - 116: Finding Some Fun"That’s a great idea, Vice-Captain, but who are we going to rob?" a girl with a bob cut asked, slapping her hands together.
"No idea. We’ll just rob whoever we run into. It’s not like we can’t beat them, anyway."
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Skylar Kidd, and her expression grew strange. "I’m just worried those bastards will shove them right down their pants."
"Shit, no way! Are they really going to play that dirty?!"
Summer Quinn walked over, carrying a cleaned wild rabbit. "I don’t know about the others, but Gray Wolf would absolutely pull a stunt like that."
Skylar Kidd shot her a look that screamed, ’You get me, girl.’
"Right? That’s what I was thinking. That punk Ryan Ford is notorious for his dirty tricks. The last major drill is a perfect example. That creep swiped someone’s ammo magazine and shoved it straight down his pants."
"Oh, I remember that now! The commander of the Third Regiment had to wrap it in a tissue to carry it away! Hahaha..."
"Forget it. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it," Summer Quinn said, plopping down on the ground. "Our priority is still finding the flags ourselves. Everyone, let’s rest for a bit." She leaned against her rucksack and closed her eyes to rest.
......
「In the monitoring room.」
Nina Jennings, who had overheard the entire conversation, looked like she wanted to curse but held back. "So that’s why their team was so infuriatingly good at it last time. Turns out they have a prior record for this sort of thing. What a bunch of clowns."
"Be that as it may," Zachary Jacobs said, rubbing his chin, "in a situation like this, only Snow Phoenix would hesitate. The other two teams are full of guys. Even if a flag was stuffed in a smelly sock, they’d probably just rip the guy’s shoe right off to get it."
A glint flashed in Yvonne Lowell’s eyes. She kicked Zachary Jacobs, who was standing beside her. "Broadcast the current flag count for all four squads."
’This is too boring. What’s so fun about watching a bunch of people climb a mountain?’
’Since they aren’t having any fun, I might as well do them a favor and create some for them.’
A lightbulb seemed to flash above Zachary Jacobs’s head. He grinned deviously. "Hehehe, I like it, I like it. This is going to be fun."
"Also, announce the straight-line distances between the squads, but don’t give away their directions. Understand?" Yvonne Lowell added.
"No problem, you can count on me!" Zachary Jacobs pounded his chest, then turned and started working at the console.
......
Just as everyone was resting and recuperating, a BUZZING sound echoed from above the forest.
Everyone looked up. Before long, a drone appeared over each squad’s position.
And from it came Zachary Jacobs’s infuriatingly smug voice:
"Hellooo, my dearest little babies! It’s your beloved Brother Hughes, here to secretly slip you a cheat sheet. Now, don’t get too emotional."
"The current flag counts for each squad are: Dragon’s Ascent Squad, 10 flags; Gray Wolf Squad, 8 flags; Snow Phoenix Squad, 13 flags; Anomalous Abilities Unit, 12 flags."
"Dragon’s Ascent Squad, 10 flags; Gray Wolf Squad, 8 flags; Snow Phoenix Squad, 13 flags; Anomalous Abilities Unit, 12 flags."
"Were you thinking I was going to say it a third time? Nope, nope, nope. This isn’t important enough to repeat three times."
"Dragon’s Ascent Squad, 10 flags; Gray Wolf Squad, 8 flags; Snow Phoenix Squad, 13 flags; Anomalous Abilities Unit, 12 flags. Hahaha, fooled you, didn’t I?"
"Alright, next, I’ll secretly tell you the straight-line distances between you all: Using Gray Wolf Squad as the origin point, the Anomalous Abilities Unit is 10 kilometers away, Dragon’s Ascent Squad is 5 kilometers away, and Snow Phoenix Squad is 2 kilometers away."
"My part is done. You all can figure out the rest yourselves. No need to thank me~"
With that, the drones flew off, leaving forty dumbfounded fools frozen in their tracks.
When they came to their senses, they all stared at each other, a thousand unspoken words boiling down to a single profanity.
Ryan Ford practically jumped to his feet. "So we just got publicly shamed? Fuck! This is humiliating on a cosmic scale! How did they find so many?! We only have eight! That’s not even enough to be worth stuffing down my pants!"
Hawkeye, the man who had found the very first flag, spoke up. "Maybe there just aren’t that many flags on our path? Should we just go rob another team?"
"Rob who? ’Instructor Hughes’ only gave us the straight-line distances, no bearings. Besides, the closest team is Snow Phoenix—a bunch of she-devils. If we dare try to rob them, regardless of whether we get anything, we’ll never hear the end of it for the rest of our lives."
The entire Gray Wolf Squad looked to the heavens in despair. They couldn’t find any flags, and now it seemed they couldn’t rob anyone either.
"So what’s the plan?"
"I didn’t say we can’t rob anyone. I meant we should rob one of the *other* teams. Let’s keep searching for now. We can decide what to do when we run into someone."
......
The encounter with Snow Phoenix Squad that Gray Wolf Squad had been bracing for never came to pass. Snow Phoenix had gone in the opposite direction, looking to pick up an easy score.
Snow Phoenix had been proceeding according to their plan when they unexpectedly stumbled upon a lone straggler from Dragon’s Ascent Squad.
The straggler had likely stepped away for a bathroom break and, by sheer luck, found a flag not far off. He was happily whistling as he headed back to his team.
When he saw the entirety of Snow Phoenix Squad, the man froze, then immediately turned to bolt.
Summer Quinn, being the closest, leaped onto his back, clamped a hand over his mouth, and slammed him to the ground with a back throw.
The others quickly swarmed in, pinning him securely to the ground.
Skylar Kidd snatched the flag from his hand and demanded in a thuggish voice, "Got any more flags on you?"
"Mmph... Mmphh..." the poor straggler struggled.
"What’s with all the ’mmphing’? Nod if you do, shake your head if you don’t," Skylar Kidd said, tapping him with the flag.
’I *want* to shake my head, but can I even move?!’
As if sensing his predicament, Summer Quinn loosened her grip on his mouth slightly.
"Speak! Do you have any other flags on you!?"
The straggler’s head shook back and forth like a pellet drum, as if fearing that if he were any slower, they would tear him limb from limb and dump his corpse in the wild.
Skylar Kidd eyed him with suspicion but decided to search him herself just in case.
She patted down his pockets, only to find they were cleaner than a freshly wiped slate. Fine, then.
"Mmph..."
"Mmph, my ass. It’s just a pat-down, stop acting like I’m doing something to you." Skylar Kidd stuffed the flag she’d just taken into her pocket.
"Useless. Your squad has ten flags, and you’re not even carrying one. Well, this one is ours now. And don’t even think about revenge, or I’ll kick your ass."
Once Skylar Kidd had finished her threatening speech, the other women holding him down exchanged glances, then simultaneously let him go and took off.
They left the lone straggler lying on the ground, looking utterly vacant, pitifully fragile, and as delicate as a wilting flower.
Perhaps because he had been gone for so long, Jasper Hayes, worried that something might have happened, came looking for him with another squad member.
When he saw him lying on the ground, Jasper’s expression changed drastically. He rushed forward. "Miles! What happened to you?!"
At the sound of Jasper Hayes’s voice, focus returned to Miles Doyle’s eyes. He threw himself into Jasper’s arms and wailed, "Captain, I’m no longer pure!!!"
