The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 125 - 124: Like Drinking Plain Water

Perhaps due to their extensive mission experience and regular sparring within the unit.

Their group didn’t look particularly ragged, just slightly out of breath with a thin sheen of sweat on their foreheads.

Some had water stains and burnt holes on their clothes, and perhaps a few minor wounds hidden underneath, but nothing serious.

It had to be said that compared to the usual hellish physical conditioning, superpower training was actually more in their comfort zone.

Yvonne Lowell nodded with a hint of satisfaction and looked at Finn Knight standing beside her.

Finn Knight understood the cue and immediately opened the briefcase at his feet.

Inside were ten test tubes filled with a transparent liquid.

Finn Knight carried the case over to them, and Yvonne Lowell spoke at the opportune moment,

"Each of you take one and drink it."

Theodore Zane uncorked a test tube and sniffed it. Colorless and odorless.

"Instructor, what is this?"

Yvonne Lowell shot him a sidelong glance, a slight smirk playing on her lips. "Crane’s beak red. Drink it, and I’ll send you on your final journey."

Theodore Zane gave her a mournful look. ’Instructor, how could you...’

"Hurry up, don’t dilly-dally. Down it in one gulp. Once you’re done, sit down and rest right where you are."

Hearing her, the group didn’t dare hesitate any longer and downed the liquid in one go.

They smacked their lips after finishing. It was flavorless, as bland as drinking plain water.

But they soon noticed something strange. The spiritual power they had expended during their sparring was gradually returning, sweeping away their fatigue.

They exchanged glances, all inwardly surprised.

Blake Paxton hesitated for a moment, but his curiosity ultimately won out. Risking a beating, he asked,

"Instructor, why does drinking this speed up the recovery of our spiritual power?"

Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "This is a potion for channeling spiritual power. Restoring it is just a side effect. You only feel it so strongly because you just happened to have depleted yours."

Stanley Sutton was stunned. "Something this good actually exists?! Do you have any more?!"

’If they could get their hands on some to keep in the unit for emergencies, it would be a huge advantage with no downside.’

"No. Don’t even think about it. There are only these ten vials. Besides, I paid for them out of my own pocket. Your leadership didn’t give me a budget for it."

Seeing the ten crestfallen faces before her, Yvonne Lowell found it somewhat amusing. "No need to be so disappointed. This is mainly for controlling spiritual power rampages. For normal superpower users like you, one vial is more than enough—a nice bonus. Taking too much of anything will only harm you."

The Anomalous Abilities Unit: ’But we suddenly really want to be *abnormal* superpower users...’

The others only dared to think it, but that dolt Theodore Zane actually had the guts to say it out loud.

"Instructor, just treat us as abnormal then, and help us get some more! We’ll pay! No, wait, leadership will pay!!"

Yvonne Lowell looked at him with a smirk. "Treat you as abnormal? How about I make you *actually* abnormal?"

Theodore Zane raised a hand to cover his face. "No, no, that’s okay! I suddenly feel very, very normal again!"

Yvonne Lowell felt a wave of revulsion. She took a deep breath. "Break’s over! Everybody up! Back to training!"

’If she was going to be miserable, then everyone was going to be miserable!’

Standing behind Theodore Zane, Blake Paxton kicked him irritably. ’You dope! You only remember the reward, never the punishment!’

...

Meanwhile, the other three squads were being put through the wringer by Instructor Hughes, suffering in silence.

’Now that the Anomalous Abilities Unit was gone, why was their training load suddenly on super-steroids?!’

They finally got to go to the shooting range, but before they could even touch a gun, Instructor Hughes made them pump iron for an hour.

’And who knew if it was his time of the month or what, but Instructor Hughes had turned into a total rage machine. Where was the meek weakling who used to play good cop for Instructor #1?!’

’He really was forever young, forever spewing vicious insults. For example:’

"Frank, were those hands transplanted from a chicken? You can’t even straighten your fingers, and they’re splayed out! Even Instructor #1’s split ends aren’t as split as your fingers!"

Ryan Ford: ’Heh. Weren’t *you* the one who just made me break bricks with my bare hands? If you’ve got the balls, say that last part to our instructor’s face!’

"And you! You have the nerve to call yourself Hawkeye? The ’Sniper God’? Look at yourself! How many shots have you missed?!"

Hawkeye: ’You set the moving targets to 15x speed! The conveyor belt is probably about to smoke and catch fire. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were trying to achieve liftoff. Why don’t *you* try hitting ten shots without missing? C’mon, I’d love to see it.’

"Miles Doyle of Dragon’s Ascent! Did getting trounced by Snow Phoenix give you Parkinson’s disease? Your hands are shaking so much you can’t even hold the parts steady! By the time you assemble that gun, it’ll be next year’s New Year’s Eve!"

Miles Doyle: ’Ahaha, yep, that’s me! You messed with me, so you must have picked the biggest pushover, huh? [finger heart]’

Weather: Cloudy, turning to light snow.

Temperature: Who knows, but it’s damn cold. As cold as our hearts.

The third hour since Instructor #1 abandoned us. We miss her. Our minds are filled with thoughts of her. We wish we could see her right now.

We’d even gladly take her abuse.

...

Time flew by amid the anguished cries of the trainees, and before they knew it, the final week had arrived.

During this time, the Anomalous Abilities Unit and the three squads trained separately.

Zachary Jacobs and Finn Knight oversaw the morning physical conditioning, so Yvonne Lowell could simply wake up and head straight to training the Anomalous Abilities Unit.

When she had a spare moment, she would occasionally pass by the other squads’ training grounds and offer a few pointers (or, more accurately, a few taunts).

「In the afternoon, just before training was dismissed.」

Yvonne Lowell gathered everyone together to make an announcement. "Only one week left, and then you’re free."

Before they could celebrate, Yvonne Lowell continued,

"In three days, we will be holding an assessment. The content will cover every event you’ve trained on during this time."

"In this assessment, your opponent isn’t anyone else—it’s yourselves. I’ll be using your previous personal bests from this camp as the benchmark."

"There will also be one secret assessment. Don’t ask what it is, because I won’t tell you."

’Then why even bring it up?! Huh?! Just to mess with us?! ARGH!!!’

"Permission to speak!" Ryan Ford stepped forward.

"Go ahead."

"Instructor, what happens if we don’t beat our previous best scores in this assessment?"

Yvonne Lowell gave him that signature smirk. "If you don’t, you’ll naturally be spending the rest of your time here doing extra training. I’ll also be reporting your scores to your home-unit instructors. As for what they’ll do with that information... I have no idea."

Ryan Ford pursed his lips and stepped back into formation. ’I should’ve just kept my mouth shut.’

Stanley Sutton and Blake Paxton exchanged a subtle glance, then one of them spoke up. "Permission to speak, Instructor. We’ve decided what we want for our prize from the last competition."
