Chapter 474: Chapter 473: Holy Liquid
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM...
A fiery red sun beat down, its scorching heat baking the earth. Amidst a range of volcanoes, a young man gripped a rock, repeatedly smashing it against a lizard pinned beneath him. Its head was already cracked open, spilling a mess of red and white gore.
Qin Ya had brutally smashed the lizard’s head to a pulp.
After a long moment, staring at the lizard’s obliterated head, he finally let out a breath of relief and collapsed. His back was a mangled, bloody mess.
His head swam as exhaustion washed over him in waves. He shook his head hard to clear it, then glanced at the dead lizard and swallowed hard.
’I’ve lost so much blood, I’m weak and drained. If I don’t find some energy, I’m not going to make it. This place is supposed to be a trial, but there’s no guarantee I won’t lose my life!’
’Damn it! I, Qin Ya, refuse to die such a pathetic death here.’
Determination flashed in Qin Ya’s eyes. He crawled toward the lizard, opened his mouth, and bit down. The rank taste of raw flesh and blood assaulted his senses, making him want to vomit, but his expression never changed as he chewed, mouthful after mouthful.
As the meat and blood entered his stomach, it became a warm current flowing through his body, restoring a bit of his strength. Qin Ya rested for a while before pushing onward.
’If I’m not mistaken, this stage is a test of a Martial Artist’s will,’ Qin Ya deduced as he walked. He gave a cold smirk. ’A Martial Artist’s will, eh? Let’s see just how far you can push it!’
Fighting Fierce Beasts with a frail body, identifying various herbs with the eye of an Alchemist, and facing all hardships with a will of steel. Time passed, and Qin Ya, in the body of an ordinary person, managed to survive in the volcanic range for a full half-month.
During that half-month, he had been attacked by beast packs in the dead of night, despaired over dwindling water sources, and fled in a panic from volcanic eruptions. He had repeatedly skirted the edge of death, relying not only on his willpower but also on his knowledge and intellect.
One day, Qin Ya was at the edge of a volcanic crater picking a Mars Flower. The flower’s juice could quench thirst, and when ground into a powder, it could treat external wounds and help ward off the severe cold of the night. This herb’s contribution to his survival thus far was undeniable.
Just as Qin Ya picked the Mars Flower, his surroundings abruptly changed. The volcanoes, the blazing sun, the smoke, and the dust all vanished completely. They were replaced by a vast, white space, and before him lay a small, golden pool.
"You are quite impressive."
"In a thousand years, you are one of the very few Martial Artists who, after being stripped of your True Essence, Divine Thought, and strength, could still survive in that volcanic range for half a month. Very good."
"You have passed the fifth trial."
Qin Ya snorted. Even though he knew this was a Saint’s trial, the life-or-death struggle of the past half-month had left a deep-seated anger smoldering within him.
He was in no mood to be pleasant with the mysterious voice. "Since I’ve passed," he said coldly, "restore my body now."
The mysterious voice wasn’t offended. It chuckled. "No need to rush. Take the reward you’ve earned first. See? That pool of golden Holy Liquid is your prize."
"Oh." At the voice’s words, Qin Ya walked over.
The shimmering golden Holy Liquid reflected his image. His handsome face was gone; his right cheek was scorched black and rotting, giving him a monstrous, terrifying appearance. A scar more than forty centimeters long ran from his right shoulder down to his ribs, the flesh still raw and oozing tiny beads of blood, clearly far from healed.
These were the marks left behind from Qin Ya’s half-month struggle!
God knows it was a miracle he was still alive. An ordinary person in that environment would have been dead, their corpse torn to shreds, within a couple of hours.
"Heh. What a horrifying sight."
A cold glint flashed in Qin Ya’s eyes, a sign of the suppressed anger burning within him. He snorted. "What’s the use of this golden Holy Liquid?"
"Holy Liquid is condensed by a Saint from their own Holy Power. It offers immense benefits to any Martial Artist below the Saint Realm. Cleansing meridians and refining marrow is but one of its more common effects; it can also enhance one’s aptitude, perfect the body, heal injuries, and so on. Its wondrous uses are many."
"Every single drop is incredibly precious, and this small pool contains at least a thousand drops. If you took this to the outside world, even the Four Great Hidden Sects would go mad for it. So? Is that a generous enough reward for you?"
"Hmph. Enough nonsense. Restore my body first."
"Fine."
As soon as the word was spoken, Qin Ya felt his body relax as vast True Essence surged through him once more. The return of his familiar power brought a faint smirk to his lips. With a wave of his hand, he drew a globe of the golden Holy Liquid into his palm.
Sensing the immense power within, Qin Ya immediately absorbed the globe—containing nearly thirty drops of Holy Liquid—directly into his body. In an instant, a Primordial Power so pure it was nearly perfect surged through him, cleansing his impurities and repairing his injuries.
The necrotic flesh on his right cheek instantly fell away, leaving a pitted, bloody hole, but fresh, fair skin grew back in the very next moment. The forty-centimeter-long scar healed completely, and countless hidden injuries inside him were purged. A black gas seeped from his entire body as impurities were expelled.
About an hour later, Qin Ya finished absorbing the power from the Holy Liquid. The intensity of his True Essence had increased, his Qi and Blood were more powerful, and his True Essence circulated faster and more smoothly. Qin Ya gave a cool smile. ’This Holy Liquid is certainly impressive. Just what you’d expect from something condensed by a Saint.’
"Heh, but of course."
The mysterious voice chuckled softly, its tone tinged with pride, as if it were the one being praised.
"What is the sixth trial?" Qin Ya asked.
"You’ll know when you get there."
The moment the voice faded, Qin Ya found himself standing in a vast hall.
The hall was filled with towering Stone Steles, standing like a forest.
Mysterious humanoid figures were carved onto the Stone Steles. They seemed to be peerless experts, circulating with streams of Mysterious Power and exuding an incomparable might.
Suddenly, one of the Stone Steles moved directly in front of Qin Ya. A white, human-shaped figure shot out from within it and lashed out with its palm.
The palm strike was so incredibly fast that even Qin Ya couldn’t track it. With a deafening boom, he was sent flying hundreds of feet away, crashing into a stone pillar.
’Damn it, that’s incredibly fast.’
’And that ripple of Mysterious Power... it’s the Mysterious Speed!’
Qin Ya’s gaze sharpened, the Breaking Army Spear materializing in his hand. He charged, unleashing a dense flurry of spear shadows that rained down on the light-figure, blanketing it entirely.
But the white light-figure’s footwork was wondrously unpredictable. It dodged left and right amidst the storm of spear shadows with complete ease, startling Qin Ya.
’Even I couldn’t move so effortlessly within that barrage of strikes!’
Judging from that palm strike, the light-figure’s power was at the Celestial Human Perfect Realm at most. Its comprehension of the Mysterious Speed was profound, but not that much deeper than his own. Yet, it had accomplished something that even Qin Ya could not.
’Its application of the Mysterious Speed is superior to mine.’
