Unfortunately, the first person had been too far away at the time to get a clear look.
Li Ban hadn't been particularly tempted when he first heard the news.
He didn't lack Good Grade elements, and claiming the Superior Element would have to wait until he found Xiao Suo, who was hiding somewhere in the Nihility State.
But while carefully combing through that first person's memories, he noticed a specific detail.
The Medicine Furnace suspected of being a Superior Element showed no signs of being scorched by fire, but it was surrounded by withered vines.
Li Ban was highly sensitive to vines right now. Finding traces of them made him want to investigate.
The vines in the black-robed priest's memory were blurry, meaning he hadn't paid any real attention to them at the time.
"The place he saw the Medicine Furnace seems to be deeper within the Nihility State, close to the Mist Zone."
The Nihility State bordered the Mist Zone directly, with no River of Forgetfulness separating them.
The Mist Zone no longer belonged to the Wizard World.
You Jin had consulted the four Xiu Ye priests to reorganize the information regarding the initial outbreak sites of the strange disease.
All of them were located very far from the Medicine Furnace.
"With it being that far away, the Medicine Furnace only seems more suspicious."
Xiu Ye Number One chimed in, "Based on the location you mentioned, I think the Medicine Furnace is roughly equidistant from the other outbreak sites."
Xiu Ye Number Two gasped. "Could the Medicine Furnace have been refining the Contamination Source?"
"Not necessarily," Xiu Ye Number Four countered.
Watching the Xiu Ye priests discuss the matter, Li Ban found it rather amusing.
He wondered if it would be a similar scene when Xiao Suo met his clones.
But then again, Xiao Suo possessed the ability to absorb and fuse his clones. His interactions with them definitely wouldn't be as peaceful as Xiu Ye's.
After cleaning up the corpses of the two black-robed priests, Li Ban tried to extract their elements, only to fail. They had all turned into waste elements.
"Many black-robed priests frequently steal elements from others." Xiu Ye Number One was quite familiar with this. "Terrified that enemies will covet their own elements, they use a special symbiotic spell to bind the elements to themselves. If they die, all their elements automatically turn into waste elements."
"Using this method to prevent themselves from being robbed?" Li Ban sneered. "It doesn't matter. I'll take waste elements too."
Now that he was in the Nihility State, his spiritual rhinoceros was only taking energy in without expending any. Killing a few black-robed priests served as a decent supplement.
It was just a pity that even black-robed priests were incredibly rare this deep within the Nihility State.
Stowing the two corpses inside his Cubic Space, Li Ban set off again.
He added the Medicine Furnace to his list of targets.
However, the Medicine Furnace was far too distant, and he would pass by other targets along the way.
He planned to simply search for them as he traveled.
Just as Li Ban pushed deeper into the Nihility State, Cat Girl finally sensed a chaos element in a certain town.
Nestled between a mountain and a river, the town should have originally been a place of beautiful scenery.
Now, however, the mountain was barren and the riverbed was dry. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a dead silence hidden within the fog.
Accompanied by Priest Qian Que, Cat Girl had sensed a faint trace of its aura from halfway up the mountain.
They hurried toward it at once.
Along the way, they killed numerous mud monsters and encountered several ice crystals.
Some contained people and others contained monsters, but the vast majority were empty.
Oddly enough, every time they stumbled upon an ice crystal containing one of Priest Xiu Ye's clones, they would be attacked by a swarm of mud monsters.
This led the priests to suspect that Priest Xiu Ye had some sort of connection to the mud.
They crossed over the small mountain directly from the midpoint, arriving in the valley between two peaks.
A village was nestled there in the mountains.
Following Cat Girl's senses, they made their way to the rear of the village.
"I think it's—that one!"
Cat Girl's long hair whipped wildly through the air. With no one able to approach within ten meters of her, she looked both maddened and terrifying.
She pointed toward a remote corner of the village, where a collapsed bamboo building lay in ruins.
Priest Hao Yang stepped forward to clear away the debris.
Once the withered bamboo and dirt were swept aside, a new ice crystal was revealed.
"Another ice crystal?" Priest Ai Jing stepped forward and inspected it, only to find that it looked no different from the rest. "Little Cat, are you sure the chaos element you sensed is in here?"
They had assumed the chaos element would either take the form of vines or have devolved into chaotic energy; they certainly hadn't expected another ice crystal.
Cat Girl reached out with her senses again and nodded firmly. "It's this ice crystal. Perhaps this time, the thing sealed inside isn't Priest Xiu Ye, but something else entirely."
Priest Ai Jing nodded and exchanged a glance with Priest Hao Yang.
Priest Hao Yang swung his hand like a blade, cleaving the ice crystal in two.
The others kept their guard up, watching for mud monsters.
They had no idea where the mud monsters were hiding; they only knew the creatures would abruptly swarm them in large numbers every time they found one of Xiu Ye's clones.
To make matters worse, the thick fog blocked their spiritual perception.
As the ice crystal shattered, everyone held their breath and waited.
But when they saw what was inside, they were all taken aback.
It was yet another Priest Xiu Ye hidden within.
The priests immediately raised their weapons, but this time, no mud monsters swarmed them.
Even more unusual, the Priest Xiu Ye before them actually opened her eyes and spoke.
"Get out of Yun Province, quickly!"
Priest Ai Jing motioned for Cat Girl to step back while she approached.
Seeing that no one moved, Priest Xiu Ye shouted anxiously, "Hurry up and leave! You can't stay here!"
"Who are you?" Priest Ai Jing asked sternly.
Xiu Ye stared blankly. "Priest Ai Jing, do you not recognize me? It's me, Xiu Ye."
Up until this moment, this Priest Xiu Ye showed absolutely no signs of her soul breaking apart.
"Priest Xiu Ye, something is wrong with your condition. I need to examine you. Don't move."
"What?" Xiu Ye looked bewildered. But seeing several familiar faces among the priests, she swallowed her unease and stayed perfectly still.
Priest Ai Jing pressed her hand against the center of Xiu Ye's forehead. It was an incredibly dangerous gesture for a Priest.
But Xiu Ye didn't dare pull away, knowing full well she couldn't avoid it anyway.
Fortunately, Priest Ai Jing withdrew her hand a moment later.
Even now, there was still no sign of mud monsters attacking them.
"This Xiu Ye harbors a chaos element within her," Priest Ai Jing said.
Priest Qian Jing nodded. "It seems Cat Girl's senses were correct. The chaos element really is here."
Priest Hao Ze's eyes widened. "But why are there so many Priest Xiu Yes here? And why did the others vanish so quickly while she's still lingering?"
Priest Ai Jing looked at the still-bewildered Xiu Ye. "Priest Xiu Ye, I recall you possess a unique Superior Element that allows you to create multiple clones."
"Yes." Seeing that Priest Ai Jing seemed to believe her, Xiu Ye lunged forward and grabbed her arm. "Priest Ai Jing, now isn't the time for this! Something terrible has happened in Yun Province! Someone is targeting me—we need to leave immediately!"
Priest Ai Jing sighed. "Priest Xiu Ye, Yun Province has already been reduced to the Nihility State. The reason you've been able to survive this long, unlike your other clones, is likely because you fused with the chaos element."
