Zeldryn continued staring at the cloud of smoke covering Kera's upper body.
Several seconds passed.
Suddenly, he saw a fluctuation of mana moving around Kera.
The particles gathered before the air around him began to shift.
Zeldryn narrowed his eyes slightly.
Wind?
At least, that was what it looked like based on his understanding.
Something resembling wind magic formed around Kera.
The current of air slowly swept away the smoke covering his face.
Little by little, the smoke disappeared.
Until Kera's face was finally completely visible.
Zeldryn immediately clicked his tongue.
“Tch.”
Just as he expected.
Damn it.
He isn't hurt at all.
No wounds.
No scratches.
Even Kera's face still looked just as relaxed as before.
Just before the explosion hit him, Kera had apparently formed some kind of mana barrier to protect his upper body.
The explosion Zeldryn created hadn't even managed to touch him.
But what annoyed Zeldryn even more was...
Kera was still sitting comfortably on Zeldryn's bed.
One arm rested on his knee while his body leaned slightly forward.
The pose looked far too cool for someone who had spent almost twenty minutes tormenting the owner of that very bed.
Zeldryn looked at his own condition.
His body was battered.
His clothes were a mess.
His breathing was still heavy.
Then he looked back at Kera.
Still sitting casually on his bed.
Tch, damn bastard.
How am I the one getting beaten to hell while you're sitting there posing on my bed like that?
Fuck.
Kera saw Zeldryn's expression and smiled faintly.
“You're still a thousand years too early to try something like that on me, troublesome brat,” Kera said.
Zeldryn only glared at him.
Well, obviously, damn it.
You're way above my level.
Kera then continued.
“But at least...”
He paused for a moment.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“You didn't disappoint me too much.”
Zeldryn frowned.
Kera was still smiling.
“So allow me to congratulate you.”
Zeldryn became even more confused.
“Congratulations on becoming a candidate for Level 1 Manholer.”
!!??
Zeldryn's eyes widened slightly.
Candidate?
Even something like that still isn't enough to be called Level 1?
At first, he found it a little difficult to believe.
But after thinking about it more clearly, it actually made sense.
From what he remembered about the power progression in Life Really Is Happy, Right?, a Level 1 Manholer wasn't as weak as he was now.
They were still nothing compared to Kera.
But at the very least, they had already surpassed ordinary humans by a large margin.
As for Zeldryn?
He had only managed to move several mana particles and make them explode.
And even that had only happened twice.
Compared to Kera, the difference between them was probably like an ant standing before a human.
A human could crush the ant whenever they wanted.
Meanwhile, the ant couldn't even see the head of the human towering far above it.
Zeldryn looked at Kera again.
“After everything you just did to me, now you're congratulating me?”
Kera raised one eyebrow.
Zeldryn continued.
“What kind of psychopath are you?”
Kera only smiled in response.
Then he stood up from Zeldryn's bed.
“Well...”
Kera looked Zeldryn's body over from head to toe.
“Either way, I am responsible for those minor injuries.”
His tone was unbelievably casual.
As though the injuries covering Zeldryn's body were nothing more than a few tiny scratches.
Zeldryn immediately became irritated.
Minor injuries, you say?
This is the body of a twelve-year-old kid, you bastard.
While Zeldryn was still cursing internally, Kera raised one hand.
His fingers moved.
SNAP!
!!??
Zeldryn immediately looked around.
Mana moved.
But this time, it wasn't moving toward Kera.
The flow of mana headed toward Zeldryn's body.
His body tensed for a moment.
But several seconds later...
Warmth.
A warm sensation slowly spread throughout his entire body.
Zeldryn fell silent.
This feeling...
There was something incredibly familiar about it.
The warmth felt almost identical to something he had experienced before.
When he came out of that loop.
Kera's mana continued enveloping his body.
The warmth spread from his chest, stomach, back, arms, and into every other part of his body that was filled with pain.
Zeldryn was so distracted by the sensation that he didn't immediately notice the changes taking place.
His bruises slowly disappeared.
The swollen parts of his body returned to normal.
Small wounds closed.
The pain from Kera's punches and kicks disappeared as well.
Even the deeper aches inside his body gradually faded away.
It all happened so quickly.
As though the previous twenty minutes of torment had never happened.
Zeldryn only realized it when he tried moving his body.
No pain.
He moved his shoulder.
No ache.
His arms.
His chest.
His stomach.
Everything was back to normal.
Zeldryn stared at his own body.
So this is the ability of a Level 3 Healing Manholer?
But he immediately rejected his own thought.
No.
Zeldryn glanced at Kera.
This has to be one of his more basic abilities.
He must be capable of something far crazier than this.
Then Zeldryn stopped.
Something felt strange.
Wait...
That warmth.
It was too familiar.
Zeldryn tried remembering what had happened the previous night.
He had experienced unbearable pain.
His body had felt as though it were being destroyed from the inside.
Then he lost consciousness.
But when he woke up this morning...
His body was healthy.
Even the injuries that had previously covered him were gone.
Zeldryn slowly turned toward Kera.
Don't tell me...
The one who healed me last night was...
But before Zeldryn could finish that thought...
!!??
Kera did something again.
He raised one hand.
Mana gathered in front of him.
Then the empty space directly before Kera's hand began to change.
Zeldryn stared without blinking.
Something resembling a void appeared there.
Dark.
It reflected no light.
Kera moved his hand.
The mana seemed to tear through the empty space in front of him.
Slowly, a gap formed.
Zeldryn froze.
The space in front of Kera genuinely looked as though it had been split apart.
But there was nothing visible beyond the opening.
Only darkness.
Pitch black.
Without any visible end.
Is this dimensional magic like the stuff I always saw in novels and comics?
Kera inserted his hand into the void.
Part of his arm immediately disappeared beyond the dark opening.
Zeldryn already knew that abilities like this might exist in this world.
But once again...
Imagining something while reading a novel and seeing it directly with your own eyes were two completely different things.
Zeldryn could only watch.
Kera seemed to be searching for something inside the dark space.
A few moments later, his hand began moving back out.
This time, he was holding something.
An envelope.
Zeldryn examined the object.
A red emblem seal was stamped on the front.
The dark gap in front of Kera then slowly disappeared.
Meanwhile, Zeldryn remained on the floor, still trying to process what he had just witnessed.
Kera looked at the envelope in his hand for a moment.
Then he turned toward Zeldryn.
“Here.”
Kera raised the envelope.
“An invitation to Marquis Zorin's birthday celebration.”
After saying that, Kera immediately tossed the envelope toward Zeldryn.
