The Life I Refuse to Waste

First of all, don't worry. This isn't Chapter 79 disguised as an announcement, which is why I put [NOT A CHAPTER] directly in the title.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I've started writing a second novel:

One More Death to Victory [Time Loop LitRPG]

This story is very different from The Life I Refuse to Waste.

If this novel follows Zeldryn slowly learning about his second life, the people around him, mana, his family, and a world he barely understands, then my second novel throws its protagonist straight into the opposite situation.

He wakes up on a battlefield.

He has no idea where he is.

He has no idea whose body he is in.

And before he can properly understand any of that, he dies.

Then he wakes up again.

Every death gives him a Death Point, and those points are connected to his ability to turn back time.

That's the basic premise. I don't want to explain much more than that because discovering how the system works is part of the story.

However, even though the pacing and premise are very different, there are still several things from The Life I Refuse to Waste that I'm carrying into this story.

If what you enjoy about Zeldryn is that he doesn't immediately understand everything just because he's the protagonist, Duren is the same.

He doesn't suddenly know how to fight because he picked up a weapon.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

He doesn't become fearless because he knows he can return after death.

And dying doesn't magically stop hurting just because it isn't permanent.

He is still just a normal person placed in a situation he was never prepared for.

The biggest difference is that this story moves much faster.

Instead of slowly discovering a new life through conversations, relationships, and everyday events, Duren is forced to learn through repeated attempts, failures, and deaths. He tries something, sees what happens, learns from it, and tries something different the next time.

So if you enjoy the way actions and misunderstandings in this novel can create consequences many chapters later, that part of my writing hasn't disappeared either.

I'm still very interested in cause and effect.

I'm still interested in characters making decisions based only on what they currently know rather than magically having the correct answer.

I'm still interested in watching an ordinary person gradually adapt to something completely outside their previous life.

And, of course, there are mysteries.

Duren remembers having another life, but the system shows the name Duren Torreth.

That isn't his name.

He doesn't remember how he arrived there.

And whatever is happening to him clearly started before the moment he first opened his eyes.

That's about as much as I'm willing to say.

I also want to make something clear: this does not mean I'm abandoning The Life I Refuse to Waste.

Zeldryn's story is still continuing.

I simply had another story I really wanted to write, and instead of leaving the idea sitting in my head forever, I decided to start it.

So now I somehow have two novels to worry about.

Great decision.

Probably.

Anyway, if you enjoy time loops, LitRPG progression, mystery, repeated trial and error, and protagonists who react like actual human beings when horrible things happen to them, feel free to give it a try.
