The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 1820 - 504: Edward's Counterattack (Part 3)

This is a road of no return.

But everyone was also aware that it was their only choice.

The knight took a deep breath, then suddenly knelt on one knee, the chains clattering sharply against the ground.

"I swear! My sword will be your sword, I will use it to reclaim my justice."

Next, the second, the third... until all the prisoners dropped to their knees.

"I swear!"

They were young officers of the Ryan Kingdom.

However, because the court of the Ryan Kingdom was too crowded, there weren't enough vacancies to accommodate them, so they journeyed over mountains and rivers to their neighbor's home.

Regardless of whether they succeed or fail, it was not a loss for the King of Ryan. But he probably did not anticipate another scenario, that they would lose but still survive.

They would return.

As the blade aimed at the throne.

Watching the prisoners prostrated on the ground, Edward showed no expression, yet a sense of satisfaction surged in his heart.

The crossbow arrows shot at him were ultimately forged into bullets aimed at the enemy.

He had said he would make that old man pay.

Everything was just the beginning...

...

In the outskirts of Thunder City, the morning sunlight pierced through the cold, damp mist, spilling over the busy banks of the Rushing River.

Even before the rooster crowed, melodious boat songs had already knocked on the gates of the harbor, surging with the crowd into the bustling market streets.

The cries of vendors rose and fell, along with the clanging of tinkerers hammering at horseshoes.

Everything was available here.

Whether it was Sarah's favorite dried fish or Erin's liked dried figs.

Compared to the cold and damp dungeon, this place was a completely different scene.

Amidst the bustling market, a modest yet clean black carriage quietly passed through without disturbing anyone, ultimately stopping by a stone bridge.

Baron Elaric Valerius hastily alighted and bade farewell to the coachman with a slightly uneasy tone.

As the Governor of Twilight City, leaving his jurisdiction without the King's permission was already a betrayal, not to mention coming to a neighboring country at odds with the King.

For this secret visit, he was practically gambling with his life and fortune.

Elaric looked around, searching for his contact, soon his eyes brightened.

The Campbell people were more punctual than he imagined, Sir Wesley was already waiting and approached him with a smile.

"Baron, welcome to Thunder City."

He was in his early thirties, dressed impeccably, his brown short hair gleaming with a golden luster in the sunlight, looking confident and composed.

Though born a commoner, he carried an ease that matched that of noble birth.

Elaric nodded, secretly amazed, while trying to remain calm and responding politely.

"Sir, delighted to meet you here, but please understand my concerns, I don't wish to stay here long."

"Of course, the carriage to meet you has been waiting for some time," Sir Wesley nodded cheerfully, gesturing, "This way, please."

A small, short-distance carriage waited by the roadside, driven by the Duke's trusted aide.

A servant opened the door for the two, Elaric hastily boarded, and Sir Wesley followed composedly.

The carriage crossed the stone bridge, its wheels making a soothing crunch on the clean surface.

Its pace was unhurried, moving along with the crowd, seemingly intent on letting the visitor from Twilight City clearly see the Thunder City waking at dawn.

Leaning against the soft velvet seat back, Elaric finally relaxed his tense nerves, his gaze wandering to the streets outside, wanting to take a good look at the place.

Before arriving in Thunder City, he assumed this city would be no different from Twilight City, perhaps just wealthier with more nobles.

However, the moment his carriage entered the main street, he was taken aback.

The wide brick road stretched straight ahead, so spacious that four carriages could pass in parallel without hindrance!

Not only the road amazed him, but also the buildings lined along it.

These were not common wooden shacks or dilapidated stone houses, but three-story brick and tile buildings.

They stood neatly in line, their window frames painted cleanly, the house numbers and owners' names written on plaques, a remarkable sight by itself.

And this place didn't even seem to be the city center of Thunder City!

Elaric had only seen such scenery in church frescoes.

He recalled those frescoes depicted streets of the Holy City, yet the wealth here seemed not to fall short of the dreamland in the hearts of countless Old Continent residents!

Words failed him to express his astonishment, especially when he saw something at the edge of his vision which he hadn't even seen in church frescoes!

A huge clock, or more accurately, a Clock Tower.

The outlines of clocks on all four sides embedded at the tower top, surrounded by iron scaffolding!

Elaric couldn't help but swallow, his deep voice trembling slightly.

"This is... Thunder City?"

He actually wanted to ask if this was the city center or outskirts, but his pride prevented him from asking too meticulously.

Wesley smiled slightly, not sensing the deeper meaning in his words, as everything here was too familiar to him.

"Of course, sir, this is Thunder City, we haven't come to the wrong place."

Elaric finally couldn't hold back, directing his gaze towards the distant large High Tower with a question.
