Chapter 219: Chapter 219 Her words

_Rowena’s POV_

The lounge was in absolute turmoil, alarms blared down the corridor as nurses rushed across the hallway with emergency cooling packs, while three senior surgeons tried in vain to decouple the overheating thing from Kristy’s leg.

Kristy’s shrieks had reduced into weak, hoarse sobs. Her right thigh was visibly swollen and inflamed around the boundary where the casing met her flesh.

Every single eye in the hallway, the medical board, the elders, and the guards, gradually shifted away from the screaming patient and locked onto me.

"Rowena.” Alaric called out, his voice cutting straight through the panic as he stepped closer, his dark eyes wide with shock and confusion. "You counted down to the exact second. Did you know this was going to happen? How on earth could you possibly know?"

I sat back against the bench, crossing one leg over the other, completely unbothered by the chaos unfolding ten feet away. "Of course I knew. The primary hinge on that design was built with an uncalibrated pressure lock. The moment artificial electrical signals pass through the secondary nerve bridges, the internal fluid overheats and expands instantly. It is basic mechanical physics. Do you get it?”

Alaric froze, his brows pulling together in sheer bewilderment. "Basic physics? But if you knew the design was fundamentally flawed... why did you let Brielle bring it here?"

Over near the window, Brielle looked as if she had just seen a ghost. Her hands were shaking violently, her eyes wide with total, horrifying confusion as she stared at the smoking piece of metal on the floor, and then back at me.

She didn’t understand how I could possibly know the exact structural flaw of a design she had secretly bought online from an anonymous engineer.

I stood up from the bench, smoothing down my outfit. My eyes locked onto Brielle’s pale, trembling face, holding her gaze with an intense, unyielding stare.

"Dr. Brielle," I said, my voice cold and loud enough for her to hear clearly over the noise. "A word. In private."

Without waiting for her answer, I turned on my heel and walked down the side hallway toward a quiet, empty consultation office.

A few seconds later, the door opened, and Brielle slipped inside, slamming it shut behind her. Her breath was coming in short gasps, her composure completely shattered.

"What did you do?!" Brielle hissed, her hands trembling as she pointed a finger at me. "How did you mess with my project?! Did you sabotage my work?!"

I let out an amused breath and leaned back against the edge of the mahogany desk, folding my arms over my chest.

"I didn’t sabotage a single thing, Brielle," I said, letting a dangerous smile touch my lips. "You did this all to yourself when you transferred eighty thousand dollars into an offshore burner account two nights ago."

Brielle froze dead in her tracks. Every bit of remaining color drained from her face, leaving her looking utterly ghostly. Her knees buckled slightly, and she stumbled back a step, holding the edge of a chair to keep herself from falling over.

"Y-You..." She stammered, her voice shaking violently as her mind struggled to process the horrific truth. "It was you? You were the anonymous user on the forum?"

"Who else would understand biomechanical nerve mapping well enough to draft a design like that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I discarded that blueprint last week because the fluid channel was too unstable. But when I saw your pathetic desperate post online begging for someone to do your work for sixty grand... I decided to sell you my trash."

"You monster!" Brielle shrieked, her voice breaking with pure rage and embarrassment. "You set me up! You deliberately sold me a broken design to ruin me in front of the entire pack council!"

"I didn’t force you to buy it, Brielle," I countered, my tone turning ice cold. "You were so blinded by your own arrogance and desperate to look like a genius that you didn’t even bother to verify the mathematical calculations before authorizing the assembly. You wanted to cheat your way to victory. I simply handed you the rope, and you hanged yourself with it."

Brielle swallowed hard, her chest heaving as she desperately tried to pull herself together.

But after a while, she straightened her posture, forcing a bitter ugly smirk onto her face as she tried to cover up her terror.

"It doesn’t matter," Brielle lied shamelessly, crossing her arms and raising her chin high. "You think anyone will believe your ridiculous story? I am a respected doctor from an elite noble family! If you go out there and tell Alaric or the board that I bought the design from you on some dark forum, I will simply deny it. I will tell them you are making up wild lies because you are jealous of me!" She took a step closer, laughing bitterly. "You have no proof, Rowena. No one saw the transaction. Your little word against mine means nothing in this pack."

"Is that so?" I chuckled quietly, shaking my head at her pure unadulterated stupidity. "We will see about that when I present the digital paper trail to Alaric."

"Go ahead and try!" Brielle sneered, turning around and grabbing the door handle. "You have nothing on me!"

She yanked the door open and walked out of the room, attempting to hold her head high as she marched back toward the waiting lounge. I let out a quiet laugh, taking my time as I followed her back out into the bright hallway.

In the lounge, the medical team had finally managed to remove Brielle’s ruined prototype, carrying the piece of metal away on a tray.

Kristy was lying back on a gurney, weeping softly from the trauma, while Alaric stood beside her with a thunderous expression on his face.

I walked straight up to the center of the room, looking past the elders and locking eyes with Alaric.

"I brought my actual design," I announced clearly, gesturing toward the case Kasper was holding behind me. "Even though your aunt made it very clear she despises my presence, I am still willing to let the medical team use my core assembly to fix her leg."

The lead surgeon stepped forward, looking between the tray and my case with deep hesitation.

"Marchioness Rowena," the surgeon said cautiously, wiping sweat from his forehead. "With all due respect... the previous limb almost cost Lady Kristy her life. Her pathways are severely inflamed right now. If another custom prototype fails, the damage will be permanent and fatal. We must be extremely careful."

"My prototype will not fail," I stated calmly, my voice steady and completely unyielding. "Authorize the integration now."

The surgeon hesitated, looking toward Alaric for guidance.

Alaric looked at me, his eyes searching my face for any trace of doubt. Seeing only total confidence, he turned to the medical team and nodded firmly. "Use Rowena’s design. I trust her completely."

"I trust her as well," Ezekiel spoke up from his spot by the wall, stepping forward with his arms crossed. "Rowena’s work is flawless. You would be idiots not to use it."

The elders exchanged nervous glances, but with the Alpha King’s direct order, the surgical team didn’t dare argue further. They quickly prepped the operating room once again, wheeling Kristy back through the double doors along with my case.

An hour passed in complete silence.

Finally, the operating room doors swung open for the second time today. The lead surgeon stepped out, but this time, his face wasn’t filled with triumph, it was filled with absolute genuine disbelief.

Kristy was wheeled out right behind him. The new limb I had assembled was attached to her right thigh.

There was no smoke, no swelling, and no heat. Kristy was sitting upright, resting comfortably without a single trace of pain on her face.

"It... it is unbelievable," the surgeon stammered to the room, shaking his head in shock. "The integration took within three minutes. Her tissues are already stabilizing!"

The elders gasped in awe, crowding around to look at the flawless craftsmanship of the new leg.

I stepped forward, looking down at Kristy with a calm unbothered expression.

"The integration is complete," I said, my voice filling the room. "If she follows the basic physical therapy instructions, she will be able to stand up and start walking on her own two feet by tomorrow morning."

The entire room erupted into total, breathless shock.
