The Mirror Master

Chapter 27: Voodoo Doll

The Zhou Family Residence.

Fei Ming’s face was deathly pale as he stood before a tightly sealed inner hall.

The stump of his severed arm was wrapped in gauze, a large patch of which was soaked red with blood.

Though it was late at night, a lamp was lit inside the inner hall. It cast a ghostly green glow, making the scene exceptionally sinister.

Fei Ming said, "Madam, the pain is keeping me awake. I’m a bit worried. Should we arrange for more guards tonight, just in case?"

"Hasn’t that girl from the Luo Family already left?"

Madam Zhou’s voice drifted out from the inner hall.

"Yes, she has."

Fei Ming said, "I had my men follow them. They didn’t see them turn back. It’s just..."

He paused before continuing, "I’m just worried. We clashed with the Chen Martial Arts Hall today, and I’ve been severely injured. Will Chen Tieshan take advantage of this vulnerability and come knocking?"

"Chen Tieshan? Heh... hehehe..."

A strange laugh echoed from the inner hall, making Fei Ming’s blood run cold.

"That Chen Tieshan has his own hands full. If he dares to come looking for me, he’ll be seeking his own death."

Madam Zhou said slowly, "Tonight, he will get a taste of my methods!"

"I’m relieved to hear that you’ve already made preparations, Madam."

Fei Ming said, "However, the Luo Family is a major clan in Bluestone County, and Luo Qing is so aggressive. If she finds out the Lu Family’s death is connected to you, Madam, won’t she come back with a vengeance?"

"The Luo Family, a major clan?"

Madam Zhou sneered. "I’ve spent these years fasting, praying, and living in seclusion. Do they really think I’m an easy target?"

"I’ve already contacted my younger sister. Her Cultivation is even greater than mine. With her methods, no matter how powerful the Luo Family is, they will be utterly destroyed!"

A tremor ran through Fei Ming’s Heart and Spirit.

He knew the methods of the woman in the room.

Ordinary people stood no chance against such methods.

Even some Martial Artists, if they were the least bit careless, would fall into her trap and meet their end.

"Madam, you should get some rest. I will take my leave now."

After speaking, Fei Ming turned and left.

Calm returned to the area around the inner hall.

The place was saturated with a gloomy Yin Qi. Aside from a select few from the Zhou Family, no one else was allowed to set foot here.

In recent years, three servants who had wandered in by mistake had all disappeared.

Inside the inner hall.

Under the dim light, Madam Zhou retrieved a small, worn-out wooden box from a hidden compartment beneath her bed.

The bottom of the box was lined with a yellowed sheet of paper, on which a dozen or so slender Silver Needles were arranged.

Madam Zhou took out a small, exquisite straw doll from beside her. It was the length of her palm, fitting perfectly in her grasp.

Then, she pulled a torn piece of fabric from her robes.

It was the very corner of the garment she had sliced from Chen Tieshan during the day.

Madam Zhou gently wrapped the piece of cloth around the straw doll, as if dressing it in clothes.

Next, she bit the tip of her finger and squeezed out a drop of blood.

The bead of blood dripped onto the straw doll. It quickly soaked through the fabric and seeped into the straw within.

Holding the straw doll in her left hand, Madam Zhou began to chant, uttering a series of strange, bizarre syllables that sounded like some kind of incantation.

A bizarre scene unfolded!

The drop of blood, as if guided by some mysterious force, slowly spread out, transforming into tiny threads of blood that crawled over the straw doll’s entire body.

They were as dense and numerous as the blood vessels in a human body.

"Success!"

Once the blood threads covered the entire doll, Madam Zhou gave a soft cry, stopped her chanting, and panted slightly. Sweat beaded on her forehead; the effort had clearly taken a toll.

But her eyes were exceptionally excited.

In the flickering lamplight, her entire face became somewhat savage!

This was a type of Evil Suppression Technique: striking a puppet.

She hadn’t used it in a long time and was a bit out of practice.

In truth, this Magic Technique she had just performed could only be considered a rudimentary form of puppet striking.

A more powerful version required the enemy’s blood and their birth date and time.

One would have to carve a puppet from high-quality Locust Wood, with its facial features resembling the enemy. Then, one would write the enemy’s name on the front of the puppet in their own blood, and their birth date and time on the back.

As long as the caster’s Cultivation was profound enough, they could use this object to torture their enemy to the brink of death, even from ten thousand miles away.

The enemy’s life would be completely in their grasp!

Currently, her resources were limited. Chen Tieshan’s birth date and time, as well as his blood, were not easy to obtain.

Besides, her Cultivation was insufficient.

But to deal with Chen Tieshan, the straw doll before her was more than enough!

Having succeeded with the Magic Technique, Madam Zhou couldn’t help but smile. She looked at a porcelain jar by her bedside and chuckled, "Ah Hao, Mother made this puppet for you. Do you like it?"

The porcelain jar shook gently, and a gust of yin wind swirled through the inner hall.

The candle on the table nearly flickered out!

"Ah Hao, let me show you Mother’s methods."

Madam Zhou held the straw doll in her left hand and picked up a Silver Needle from the wooden box with her right. She held it poised over the doll but didn’t rush to strike, muttering to herself, "Now, where should I stick this?"

"Heh heh... I’ll take my time. Let him feel this pain worse than death, bit by bit."

As soon as she finished speaking, Madam Zhou gripped the Silver Needle and stabbed it into the sole of the doll’s foot.

「Chen Martial Arts Hall.」

That night, after Chen Tieshan fell asleep, he suddenly jolted awake from a dream in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.

He was drenched in a cold sweat.

"Husband, what’s wrong?"

Madam Chen, beside him, sensed the movement and sat up to ask.

"It’s nothing."

Chen Tieshan shook his head. "I just suddenly feel a restlessness in my Heart and Spirit."

’Could there still be some Evil Technique in the martial arts hall that Lu Bai didn’t find?’

’Or am I just being paranoid, scaring myself?’

Just then, Chen Tieshan suddenly felt a piercing pain in the sole of his foot!

It was as if he had stepped on a nail!

HISS!

Chen Tieshan sucked in a sharp breath, enduring the intense pain as he quickly lifted his foot to inspect it.

He was lying in bed, barefoot. There were no nails anywhere.

But the piercing pain from a moment ago had been unmistakably real.

Before he could even react, Chen Tieshan felt another sharp pain in his fingertips.

It felt like Silver Needles were being slowly driven into his fingertips, right under his nails!

"ARGH!"

The pain in one’s fingers is said to go straight to the heart. This agony made him leap right out of bed.

"Husband, what’s wrong with you?"

Madam Chen looked on in terror, not understanding why her husband had suddenly gone mad and started shouting.

"Pain... It hurts..."

Chen Tieshan’s hands trembled, and he could barely speak coherently. He was drenched in sweat, his face pale.

Just now, it felt as if more Silver Needles had been stabbed into his fingertips.

"Where does it hurt? What’s happening?"

Madam Chen was frantic. She scrambled out of bed, wanting to go and support Chen Tieshan.

Before she could get close, Chen Tieshan suddenly collapsed. He clutched his head and began to roll wildly on the floor, thrashing his legs and flailing his arms.

Chen Tieshan was an Inner Martial Artist, after all. His kicks and punches were packed with force, and he smashed the surrounding tables and chairs to pieces!

Madam Chen was so frightened she turned pale and didn’t dare approach him.

Chen Tieshan felt his head was about to split open. It was as if nails were being hammered into his skull, one by one.

He could even clearly feel the sensation of the nails piercing his flesh and penetrating his skull!

Chen Tieshan clawed frantically at his head, but there were no nails there at all.

"AHHHH!"

Chen Tieshan screamed again and again.

This excruciating pain seeped deep into his bones, making him wish for death. It was a torment worse than death itself!

"What’s going on?!"

Chen Xiaofeng and Chen Qianqian heard the commotion and quickly burst through the door, only to see their father rolling on the ground in agony.

"Mother, what’s happening?"

"What’s wrong with Father? Did he suffer a Qi deviation from his training?"

The two siblings, Chen Xiaofeng and Qianqian, didn’t dare to approach rashly, afraid they would be accidentally injured by Chen Tieshan.

"I don’t know, I don’t know! It just happened all of a sudden..."

Madam Chen was scared to death. Lost and helpless, all she could do was shake her head.
