The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Sean was more than just familiar with the Blazing Angel Family; he knew them inside and out.

He even knew what the private chambers of the Blazing Angel Family’s eldest daughter looked like. He and Daeli knew each other inside and out; their connection ran deep.

’But was that something he could talk about?’

"Not at all," Sean said with a deadpan expression.

’Right. Not close in *this* life.’

"Then why were you laughing so hard just now?" Elvire asked.

Sean said, "Because I just thought of something funny."

"Really?" Elvire eyed him suspiciously. "What’s so funny? Care to share?"

A spark of inspiration hit Sean. "The Blazing Angel Family is a Grand Duke Family," he replied. "They have a feud with the Florist Family. For us, isn’t that something worth celebrating?"

Well, yes, but Elvire still felt something was off.

But since Sean was unwilling to elaborate, she didn’t press him. After all, they had more important things to do.

With the Blazing Angel Family having taken care of Robes, they could now travel through the New World unhindered, free to go wherever they pleased. Elvire was eager to go home and reunite with her sister, but with Sean, Sopea, and Kate in the group, she couldn’t just do as she pleased. She didn’t want to make everyone change their plans for her sake. So, Elvire decided they should stick to finding Alola Town first.

"Is there an airport nearby?" Sean asked.

Kate nodded. "Yes, but we’ll need to get our hands on some IDs first."

For a Wizard, sneaking onto a plane was actually quite simple. A single Invisibility Spell would do the trick.

But, with his previous life as a cautionary tale, Kate felt it was better to be cautious.

A mere Viscount Family had a Grand Mage on staff. The airport, being a "state-owned enterprise" under the Church Court’s control, would probably be even more dangerous. He didn’t want to lure out some new "boss" before they even managed to sneak onto the plane, only to get smacked down hard. That would be a real disaster.

Sopea shot Kate a sidelong glance and quipped, "Not buying a plane this time?"

Kate: "..."

’This old bat’s just looking for trouble, isn’t she?’

’He couldn’t bring his money in here. This wasn’t a real game; there was no way to top up his account. What was he supposed to buy it with, his head?!’

Sean mused, "Theoretically, your company should also exist in the New World."

There might even be another Kate, and another version of all of them.

"In that case, does that mean the airport’s database might have our information too?" said Elvire.

Sean nodded. "It’s possible. We can give it a shot."

"So, we’re going straight to the airport to buy tickets?" Kate asked.

"Let’s go."

「An hour later.」

The group arrived at Selona International Airport.

To be on the safe side, they had made an effort to disguise themselves. They changed into exotic-looking outfits. Since it was winter there, they bundled up in heavy coats, wrapped scarves around their faces, and topped it all off with sunglasses. They looked exactly like a group of spies from an old movie.

"Are you sure this outfit isn’t a problem?" Elvire asked.

"It’s reverse psychology," Sean said. "What real criminal would dare to dress this conspicuously?"

Everyone: "..."

It sounded perfectly reasonable.

In reality, they’d probably be stopped by security the moment they walked in.

Most of the time, police weren’t as "smart" as people thought. They often just acted on instinct, questioning anyone who rubbed them the wrong way.

Not that it really mattered.

If worst came to worst, they could just run for it. No big deal.

The airport was packed. The Day of Abstinence was almost over, so tourists were all heading home to get back to work. Even at night, the terminals were crowded.

Sean and the others blended into the crowd, following the signs to the ticket counter.

"Hello, may I see your identification, please?" the ticket agent said with a polite smile.

Sean pretended to pat his pockets, then his bag, before saying with a frustrated look, "Oh no, I think I lost my ID."

The ticket agent tilted her head. "That’s all right, sir. If you remember the number, that works too. You can just get a new one issued when you reach your destination."

Sean asked, "Oh? You can buy a ticket with just the ID number now?"

The agent stifled a laugh. "Yes."

’How long has it been since this handsome guy in sunglasses has flown?’ she thought to herself. ’Technology’s advancing so quickly these days. In a few more years, you probably won’t even need an ID number—your face will be enough.’

Sean recited a number: "361-91-5173."

"One moment, please," the agent said.

She typed in the number, ready to select Sean’s destination and print his ticket.

But a red box popped up on her screen, indicating the number didn’t exist. No record found.

The agent paused for a moment, then turned to Sean. "Sir, are you sure you remembered that correctly?"

"Was it wrong?" Sean asked.

"Yes. That number isn’t in the database."

She expected Sean to look confused and try to recall the number again. Instead, looking as if he had anticipated this, he simply pulled the girl beside him forward. "Mine didn’t work. You try."

Elvire: "723-18-1056."

"That’s not right either," the agent said.

Next was Kate: "010-87-6666."

"Still nothing..." the agent said.

Finally, it was Sopea’s turn, with the same result.

Having four people try in a row completely baffled the ticket agent. ’Are they trying to guess a bank password or something?’

Her professional instincts, honed over many years, told her something was off. She hesitated, picking up the phone and then putting it back down. In the end, she decided not to call the police, simply watching as Sean’s back disappeared into the crowd.

"Forget it, forget it. They didn’t manage to get through anyway, so it’s better not to get involved..." the ticket agent muttered, comforting herself. ’This is a world of Wizards. People who dare to challenge the law are never simple. I’m just a regular person. All I need to do is my own job.’
