Forget about a mere Ancient Castle. Even a massive forest fire like the one from the last plane crash could be easily extinguished by a group of High-tier Wizards with Water Magic. There’s no way they would have let the entire Ancient Castle burn to the ground, much less force the whole family to flee.
"This was definitely not an ordinary fire," Elvire concluded.
Sean mused, "Maybe someone was targeting them?"
Elvire asked, "The question is, who could it be?"
How much Power and influence would someone need to kill Robes, or at least make him run with his tail between his legs?
Don’t forget, Robes is a Viscount.
Any higher and you’re talking about the hereditary High Nobles.
"I’m going to go outside and ask around," Sean said, starting to walk away.
’Instead of just guessing, it’s better to ask a few locals. A fire this big? Someone must know something.’
"Wait." Elvire grabbed his arm. "Don’t go yet."
Sean asked, "Hmm?"
Elvire said, "We still don’t know if this person is a friend or an enemy, or even if they’re still around. We can’t jump out of the frying pan just to land in the fire."
Sean was speechless. "..."
’She has a point.’
But...
"...we can’t just stand around waiting, can we?" Sean asked.
He noticed the sky; it was daytime here.
Meanwhile, it was nighttime in the Real World. The time difference was still in effect.
"Let’s search this area first," Elvire said. "We can look for survivors and wait for Kate and the others at the same time."
’When Kate and Sopea come online and don’t see us, they’ll definitely come to the Ancient Castle to look for us.’
The destruction of the Florist Family was an excellent development for them. They just had to be careful not to turn this good fortune into a disaster.
"Alright, you’ve got it."
Sean was so "obedient" today that it made Elvire a little uncomfortable. ’Did a Night Watcher scold him into being this well-behaved?’ she wondered. ’If so, maybe I shouldn’t hold a grudge against them after all.’
In reality, however, Sean was simply in a good mood.
The Florist Family was gone.
Regardless of how it happened, everything they needed to do next would be much easier.
And so, the two of them began to search the interior of the Ancient Castle, taking care to stay away from the outer edges to avoid being spotted by anyone who might be watching from outside.
「Several hours later.」
Sean and Elvire were finally certain that whoever had taken out the Florist Family was gone.
Kate and Sopea had found them. If the culprit were still around, Kate and Sopea never would have made it inside.
Sean and Elvire hadn’t found any useful clues. The only thing they could surmise was that the attacker had been very "clean." Not a single person in the entire Ancient Castle had been left alive, yet many valuables remained untouched. This meant the motive wasn’t robbery; they had come purely for the people, likely driven by a deep-seated grudge.
That was the conclusion he and Elvire had reached.
But the intelligence Kate and Sopea brought was far more precise—and far more exciting.
The two of them had indeed "rerolled their characters." Their "spawn point" was still near the Kovri Ruins. Realizing this, Kate and Sopea had rushed over as fast as they could. Upon entering the city, they found the Florist Castle in ruins and all the local residents talking about it. They asked around and learned one piece of information—
"They weren’t all killed. They were just all taken captive," Kate said.
Capturing people alive was much more difficult than simply killing them.
Sean asked, "Did you find out who did it?"
"There are a lot of rumors," said Sopea. "Some people say it was the Church Court, others say it was the Holy Sanctuary."
Most residents didn’t have access to that level of information, so they could only guess based on what they knew. As Sopea and Kate asked around, only one theory struck them as plausible: a feud between nobles.
And the only ones capable of destroying a Viscount Family overnight were the Duke Families.
That night, raging flames stained half the sky red. Someone saw a beautiful figure standing in mid-air, her body wreathed in fire. Behind her were three pairs of wings, like an angel bathed in flame.
The answer, then, was obvious.
"The Blazing Angel Family," Sopea said.
Elvire: "??!"
Sean: "??!"
Elvire’s eyes widened in shock and delight. "Are you sure it was the Blazing Angel Family?"
’The New World is a copy of the Real World, or a projection of it,’ she thought. ’If the Blazing Angel Family is here, doesn’t that mean they also exist in the Real World?’
’Does that mean my sister is still alive?’
’Did she succeed in re-forming, too?’
"Yes, yes, yes!" After a moment of stunned silence, Sean realized the implication as well and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
For him, the news that Daeli and the Blazing Angel Family were still around was more exciting than finding the Holy Temple Ruins.
Elvire was laughing too, but her laughter trailed off as she realized something was amiss. She turned to look at Sean.
"Wait a minute. What are you so happy about?"
’She was happy because she was a Blazing Angel herself. Her family still existed, and she might even be reunited with her sister in this new life. That’s why she couldn’t control her emotions. But why was Sean so happy?’
Elvire stared at Sean with deep suspicion. "Are you very close with the Blazing Angel Family?"
Sean: "..."
