"The Era of Polymath?"
"What does that mean?"
Elvire’s mind was a mess. "Didn’t they say this place was the same as the Real World?"
Sean was also a little dazed. "It is, isn’t it?"
The place he arrived at after logging off from the Void Technique Space—if that wasn’t reality, what was?
But if this was reality, how could they explain these place names?
How could they explain the major families and their territories?
"Hold on, I’ve discovered something too," Sopea said.
Kate said, "Go on."
Since they were discussing serious matters, he refrained from calling him ’the old coot’ this time.
Sopea replied, "I just closed my eyes to rest for a moment and sort out my Magic Power, and guess what happened?"
Sean and the others didn’t answer, but they all looked at him, silently telling him not to keep them in suspense.
But Sopea dropped a bombshell. "You can perform Meditation here."
Everyone: "?"
Huh?
You can perform Meditation?
Now, Sean was even more confused.
’Meditating in a Meditation World... isn’t that like nesting dolls?’
Kate couldn’t help but ask, "You’re not kidding, are you?"
Sopea said coolly, "Why don’t you try it and find out?"
And Kate actually did close his eyes and try.
As a High-tier Wizard, controlling one’s emotions and calming one’s mind was a required skill. As long as they were willing, they could enter a state of Meditation anytime, anywhere. Kate was no exception. As long as someone was standing guard to ensure his safety, even a noisy environment was a minor issue.
Then, Kate was stunned.
He discovered that he could actually perform Meditation.
Not only could he perform Meditation, but the meditation scene returned to his familiar "CEO’s office."
Sean’s was a desert.
Elvire’s was a city.
It seemed like everything was back on track...
’Like hell it was!’
Sean tried it too, and it really worked. The question was, what did this even mean?
"Double efficiency?" Sopea mused. "We could treat this place as a Void Technique Space."
’Isn’t the Void Technique Space also a Spiritual Domain?’
’It’s just that the Consciousness Riverbed is larger and vaster than the Void Technique Space. The underlying principles should be the same.’
"No, no, no, it’s not the same." Sean quickly grasped the crux of the problem. "Let me ask you, is Dual Cultivation a form of Meditation?"
Sopea answered, "It is."
Since single-person Meditation is possible in the "New World," then Dual Cultivation should naturally be possible as well.
Sean continued, "But Dual Cultivation sends us into the Consciousness Riverbed, and we’re already in the Consciousness Riverbed. How can we enter the Consciousness Riverbed from inside the Consciousness Riverbed?"
’Assuming there’s more than one Consciousness Riverbed, or that the "New World" is indeed constructed from their Mental Power, then performing Dual Cultivation here would just send them to another "New World," wouldn’t it?’
’It would be an endless cycle, one layer nested inside another, until no one knows which layer they’re actually on.’
Sopea: "..."
He understood what Sean meant. After all, it was very similar to a dream. Multiple New Worlds were like multiple dream layers; the deeper you went, the more dangerous it became. It would be easy to get lost and unable to distinguish dreams from reality. But he couldn’t answer the question. He knew too little about the Consciousness Riverbed to explain what was happening.
Kate had been about to suggest that he and Sopea try Dual Cultivation, but as soon as he heard about the possibility of infinite nesting, he immediately dismissed the idea. The risk was too great. If they got trapped on some layer and couldn’t get out, they’d be finished.
Elvire, however, was thinking. "Is it possible that performing Meditation here is what we were supposed to be doing all along?"
The initial reason they came to the "New World" was to increase their Magic Power, wasn’t it?
They just happened to encounter the Holy Temple Ruins along the way, which changed their objective and made them temporarily forget about "leveling up."
"You mean there isn’t some other activity here that represents autophagy, that Meditation is just... Meditation?" Kate asked doubtfully. "That makes sense, I guess, but isn’t it a bit too simple?"
"Simple?" Elvire said with a hint of sarcasm. "Then why don’t you try for a Breakthrough right now and show me?"
Kate: "..."
Elvire’s single sentence silenced Kate.
Even if Meditation simply equaled Meditation, the matter was far from simple.
First, the fact that they could perform Meditation in the "New World" was completely unexpected. If Sopea hadn’t tried it out of boredom, who would have so easily thought that the "New World" could be nested, and that the act representing autophagy was Meditation itself?
Furthermore, even knowing they could perform Meditation here, increasing their Magic Power would still be difficult.
They had chosen the Fallen Nether Technique for Dual Cultivation because it was more efficient than cultivating alone. Another person meant another perspective, and the two could help each other. But now, the Cultivation method had reverted from two people back to one. It was equivalent to them cultivating by themselves in the Void Technique Space; the difficulty remained just as high.
Nesting was out of the question.
They knew that Dual Cultivation led to the New World, so repeated Dual Cultivation would mean repeatedly entering a New World. They would be forever stuck on the path of finding autophagy, unable to advance for the rest of their lives.
Therefore, the only answer could be solo Meditation.
It sounded strange—performing solo Meditation in a world constructed by Dual Cultivation. It would mean the Fallen Nether Technique had lost its intended purpose. But for now, it was the only explanation that made sense.
Besides, theory was just theory. They still didn’t know what the reality of the situation was.
If they achieved a Breakthrough to a new Tier in the "New World," would their real bodies in the Real World also break through?
Sopea pondered for a moment, then said, "I’m afraid not."
"Going from Tier Five to Tier Six might be possible, but becoming a Grand Mage is most likely out of the question."
The Magic Power required for Tiers below Tier Seven could be achieved through Meditation alone. And Meditation was a method of controlling the body, a method stored in meticulous detail in their minds. It had already been proven that they didn’t lose their memories when returning to the Real World from the "New World." Therefore, this method could be brought back and used on their physical bodies, and the corresponding Magic Power would increase accordingly.
