"Waiter, the check."
"Right away, sir."
Now that he had a plan, Sean quickly finished his meal and called for the waiter.
This restaurant seemed to be quite high-end. The bill came to half a Silver Coin.
Sean only had whole Silver Coins. He assumed this must be the smallest denomination in Blake City, so he was curious how the waiter would give him change.
’Put it on my tab?’
’Let me eat for free next time?’
However, reality showed Sean it was much simpler than that.
A small problem like this was nothing for an experienced waiter.
"One moment, sir."
The waiter politely took the Silver Coin Sean offered, tucked the bill and a pen under his arm, then gripped both sides of the coin with his hands and broke it with a sharp twist.
"CRACK!"
The Silver Coin instantly split into two halves.
The waiter handed one half back to Sean with a smile. "Here is your change, sir. Please take it. We hope you’ll visit again."
Sean: "..."
’You’re incredibly strong.’
Actually, it wasn’t that the waiter was strong. Skeptical, Sean tried it himself and quickly discovered it was a ’feature’ of the Silver Coin itself. With just a little force, he could evenly break the coin in half. And a half-coin could be broken again, into quarters. This was the true ’smallest denomination’.
"What a genius design."
Sean muttered under his breath.
...
After leaving the restaurant, he followed the signs and asked passersby for directions, eventually making his way to the church.
This church was different from those outside. It wasn’t the least bit quiet; on the contrary, it was bustling with activity. A large group of Wizards was crowded into the main hall, discussing which quests to accept.
The quests were posted in a very ’magical’ way—as a series of Crystal Balls. One simply had to touch a Crystal Ball with their Mental Power to read the information within.
’A bit flashy.’
But what truly caught Sean’s attention wasn’t the Crystal Balls, but a statue in the corner.
He discovered that there was actually a statue here that he had once placed in the Hall of Truth.
Its features were as indistinct as ever, its face impossible to make out, which was precisely the proof of its identity.
At that moment, many Wizards stood with their eyes closed, praying devoutly to the statue.
"Mr. Blake, please bless us on our journey. May we have a safe trip, complete our mission, and return to Blake City... Amitabha Buddha Sect."
This was a pre-departure ritual for Wizards who had just accepted a mission.
They didn’t believe in the Gods worshipped by the Church Court, but they did believe in Carl Black.
Because the Gods were fictional figures no one had ever seen, whereas Carl Black was real, his deeds still recorded in the history books.
Sean asked curiously, "Why is there a statue of Mr. Blake here?"
"New here?" a young man sized Sean up before answering. "We stole it, of course."
It was a story from long ago, one that all the old residents of Blake City knew.
There were originally seven statues of Mr. Blake in the Holy Sanctuary. Years ago, the church launched a sudden attack. Our predecessors were caught completely off guard. Casualties were immense, and buildings crumbled. The attack was so abrupt—the Church Court had amassed a huge force, and even the Pope took action personally. The Holy Sanctuary had no time to mount a defense. All they could do was fight to the death, providing cover for students to escape and salvaging whatever important items they could.
This very statue was bought back with the blood of our forefathers.
They could lose anything, but they could not lose their faith.
Unfortunately, the Church Court’s assault was too fierce. Of the seven statues, they only managed to recover one. Another is in the Kovri Restricted Area. The remaining five are unaccounted for—no one knows if they were destroyed or taken back by the Church Court.
Among these Crystal Balls, there’s a quest to retrieve the statues of Mr. Carl Black. It’s one of the highest difficulty Level quests. Even for the statue whose location is known—the one confirmed to be inside the Kovri Restricted Area—actually moving it is no easy task.
Infiltrating the restricted area is simple enough, and sneaking out isn’t hard either.
There are many in Blake City who are skilled in Stealth Techniques.
But if you have to carry an incredibly heavy statue with you, that’s a different story.
It’s like the difference between "killing someone" and "saving someone"—they’re two completely different things.
The Kovri Restricted Area has Guards on patrol year-round. Trying to avoid them while carrying such a large statue is nearly impossible.
Besides, who knows if the Church Court is just baiting us? They might be waiting near the ruins of the Holy Sanctuary. If we go rashly, it could be a one-way trip.
"That’s not right," Sean said, confused. "Weren’t these statues only supposed to be movable by Mr. Carl Black himself?"
The young man retorted, "Who’d you hear that from?"
Sean pretended to think hard. "I forgot. I think it was in a description of the Void Technique Space."
The young man gave him a surprised look. "You know about the Void Technique Space?"
"For a newcomer, you sure know a lot."
"But don’t get them confused. The Void Technique Space is the Void Technique Space, and the Real World is the Real World."
The entire Void Technique Space was created by Mr. Blake. He is the god of that Spiritual Domain, so naturally, no one can defy the rules he set. The Real World is different. Although no one can ’control’ the statues and the statues themselves are very ’heavy,’ if you really need to move them, there are people strong enough to do it.
"It would just be incredibly difficult, that’s all."
"Sigh." The young man sighed. "I heard there’s also a Holy Sanctuary in the Void Technique Space, with many books stored inside. It’s a shame we were born in the wrong era and never had the chance to see it."
Sean: "Huh?"
’What does he mean, "I heard"?’
"You’ve never been to the Void Technique Space?"
’This was a Wizard who, according to Lauden, was brave enough to accept quests from the church. His Tier must be high, and he’s not old. With that kind of Talent, how could he not be able to enter the Void Technique Space?’
