The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 216 - 122: The Ball (Part 1)

For a moment, Tony thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.

Inside the exquisitely decorated, warm-toned VIP room, a vinyl record spun on a phonograph, filling the air with elegant piano music. And there on a nearby sofa, Sean was lounging with his legs crossed, leisurely eating Black Diamond grapes specially supplied to the nobility.

His posture was remarkably graceful.

Tony was dumbfounded.

’Why is Sean here?’

’Isn’t the VIP room for truly distinguished guests?’

’Does this mean... Sean is the one from the Blazing Angel Family they were trying to impersonate??’

Ryan was also staring, wide-eyed.

’So when this guy said he had status, he actually meant it? And it’s the status of a Grand Duke’s family?’

The problem was, weren’t they all "refugees" and "Holy Temple Remnants" from Blake City? How could they possibly have any connection to a top-tier noble family like the Blazing Angel Family?

Ryan dazedly looked over at Eleanor, who was sitting across from Sean.

Following Sean’s advice, the girl was dressed beautifully today. Her golden hair was pinned up, and she wore a velvet formal hat adorned with a rose. Her already fair skin, paired with a pure white formal dress, made her look like an Elf emerging from the snow. It was just that...

...being beautiful didn’t mean she was smart.

Eleanor felt much the same as Tony and Ryan.

Although she had learned of Sean’s identity before the two of them, she still hadn’t figured out how he could possibly hold such a status. She could only return Ryan’s gaze with a blank look that screamed, ’I don’t know either.’

When she had followed Sean to Eve Mansion this morning, she had been extremely nervous.

Sean had led her brazenly through the main entrance, and Eleanor had been terrified the guards would stop and question them.

Their identities were fake; they wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny.

But to her surprise, Sean had solved the problem with a single sentence—

"Go tell your manager I’m here."

Sean hadn’t even given his name, but the morning shift guard had scurried off to report it, and the manager truly came.

Not only did he come, but he had a brilliant smile on his face, and with an extremely respectful and humble posture, he welcomed her and Sean inside, leading them to the most exquisite and expensive private room in all of Eve Mansion.

The manager addressed Sean as "My Lord" with every other word, stunning Eleanor so much that she had to pinch her own cheek several times to see if she was dreaming. A core member of a dignified Baron Family was actually calling Sean "My Lord"?

Didn’t that mean Sean’s status was far higher than that of the Little Gista Family—far beyond that of a Baron?

Sean saw the astonishment and doubt in Eleanor’s eyes. While laughing to himself, he gave the girl a little inside information so she would act more naturally and not give them away.

"We’re here representing the Blazing Angel Family this time," Sean said.

"The Blazing Angel Family??"

And so, Eleanor became even more confused.

’This seemingly ordinary man was actually a member of a Grand Duke Family??’

She’d been in a daze ever since.

"Don’t just stand there, come on over and sit down." Sean beckoned to Tony and Ryan as if he were the host, then instructed Agivis, "Go prepare some lunch. My friends probably haven’t eaten yet."

"Yes, My Lord," Agivis replied respectfully. He even backed away with his head bowed and waist bent as he left.

The moment Agivis closed the door behind him, Tony and Ryan couldn’t hold back any longer.

"Sean, what in the world is going on?"

"You’re from the Blazing Angel Family??"

Sean put on a mysterious act. "Yes, and no."

’That depends on what my sister-in-law has to say.’

"Why didn’t you tell us sooner," Tony said, his voice full of resentment.

Sean flopped back onto the sofa. "You wouldn’t have believed me even if I had."

The two of them: "..."

He was right.

If Sean had claimed to be one of the Blazing Angels that night, not only would they have not believed him, they would have laughed in his face. To use a poor analogy, it would be like a beggar on the street claiming to be the Pope and asking for fifty dollars to help the Church Court reclaim its glory. If that beggar was really the Pope, then they might as well be Mr. Blake.

And yet, the truth was, the "beggar" really was the "Pope."

Tony looked at the calm and unconcerned Sean and felt like he, Ryan, and the others, who had painstakingly prepared all day, were just a bunch of clowns. They had even said that if Sean messed things up, they could help him get inside. Turns out, they were the ones who had messed up.

"Alright, alright, take a seat. Aren’t you tired of standing?"

Sean said in a very down-to-earth and friendly tone, "It’s just the status of a High Noble, nothing to make a fuss about. Look, even though I’m from the Blazing Angel Family, aren’t I still doing missions with you all right now?"

"So my status isn’t important. What’s important is that we’re teammates."

Ryan: "..."

Tony: "..."

’Damn him, he’s so smooth!’

"Where are Johnson and Kave? Didn’t they come with you?" Sean proactively changed the subject.

Tony said with a wooden expression, "They came, but then they ran off."

"Ran off?" Sean asked, perplexed. "Why would they run?"

Tony’s face flushed. "It’s a long story."

Sean: "Then give me the short version."

Tony: "Better if I don’t say anything at all."

Sean: "..."

Tony: "I’ll call them and have them come back."

’There’s no way I’m explaining. Sean and Eleanor would just laugh at us.’

’We’ll just pretend we didn’t do anything, and that nothing happened at all.’

Soon, Johnson and Kave, who had been trying to get in by their own means, were called back.

When they saw that the people in the VIP room were actually Sean and Eleanor, the two of them were, naturally, just as shocked.

And Kave also noticed something that didn’t add up.

"Wait a minute."

"The Blazing Angel Family are Imperial Dukes and part of the Church Court’s faction. If you were really from the Blazing Angel Family, how could you have possibly gotten into Blake City?"
