Eleanor’s younger sister was named Elise. They were twins, and she was only a few minutes younger.
When they left Blake City, Miss Lais had given them a stack of photos, which included one of Eleanor’s sister.
Coupled with the fact that the two girls looked so similar, not only did Eleanor recognize her sister, but Sean and the others also identified the girl as one of the missing people Miss Lais had asked them to look for. They all froze on the spot.
Tony was completely baffled. "What’s going on?"
"How is Elise here?"
Ryan habitually stroked his chin, musing, "Logically speaking, these missing people should all be dead from failed missions. Miss Lais only asked us to look for them to show that Blake City wouldn’t give up on any of its Wizards..."
"Shut your mouth!"
"Your sister’s the one who’s dead!"
Eleanor cursed.
"..." Ryan immediately shut his mouth.
’Though he really wanted to say he didn’t have a sister.’
In truth, most people in Blake City thought the same as Ryan. After all, Blake City was their home. To not return was little different from betrayal. Compared to the alternative, they preferred to believe these people were dead.
And that included Eleanor.
When Sean had asked her before why she took on such a dangerous mission, she’d said it was all to avenge her sister.
In Eleanor’s heart, she believed her sister’s long absence meant she had most likely died at the hands of the Saintess.
When she first woke up in the Prison, she’d thought she was about to face the same fate. But she didn’t regret leaving Blake City. If the Saintess really killed her, she would just be reuniting with her sister in Heaven. There was nothing to be afraid of.
But she never, ever expected that her sister was still alive...
Eleanor gazed from afar at the face standing in the church doorway, a face made to look so familiar and dear by the surrounding sunlight. Tears began to stream down her face, unstoppable. She didn’t care why the woman who had captured them was being kind enough to reunite two sisters, nor did she wonder if it was some kind of conspiracy. She ran straight for Elise. Even if this was a trap, she was willing to walk right into it.
"A Puppet?" Sean muttered to himself.
It wasn’t that he was being overly suspicious; he’d just been messed with by Puppets so many times that now, faced with a similar situation, his mind instinctively went there.
But Eleanor’s actions quickly told him that Elise was real.
Years of longing and an unbreakable sisterly bond culminated in the two girls embracing tightly.
"Sister, I missed you so much..."
"Me too, Elise."
The two girls wept, their faces streaked with tears. The sight stirred an indescribable feeling in Tony, as if digging up old memories, so he simply turned his head away, not wanting to watch.
He was a grown man, and he couldn’t stand all this sentimental stuff.
Sean didn’t really want to watch, either.
Otherwise, it would just make him think of Daeli and Elvire.
But he needed to confirm his theory, so he continued to watch the two girls quietly.
Eleanor didn’t push Elise away, which meant the girl was real.
Otherwise, given how well twin sisters know each other, the other girl couldn’t have fooled Eleanor, even if she knew nothing about the Puppetry Art.
’It’s good that she’s real.’ Sean sighed in relief, happy that Eleanor had found her sister.
’Hmm... he wanted to find his Saintess sister and Blazing Angel sister, too.’
"Alright, my work here is done. Take your time and chat."
"As for how to live here... Elise will tell you," the woman said.
Saying this, she walked toward the door. As she passed the two girls, she nodded and smiled at Elise. They were clearly on good terms.
The wheels in Sean’s head began to turn.
’Given that Elise is most likely a good person, isn’t dead, and has a good relationship with this woman, couldn’t one infer that this woman is probably a good person, too?’
Sean had lives to spare, so he wasn’t afraid of being wrong.
So he called out to the woman, who was just about to leave the church, "Hey, you’ve helped us out so much, and we don’t even know your name."
The woman paused.
’This young man isn’t just handsome,’ she mused, ’he’s quite emotionally intelligent, too.’
’All I did was help Elise find her sister—or, help Eleanor find her sister. Either way, it had absolutely nothing to do with Sean. But this guy insists on saying "we," forcing his way into owing me a debt. Or maybe he said it for Eleanor to hear, to show he considers her one of his own, that her problems are his problems.’
But unfortunately for him, she wasn’t buying it.
The woman turned to face Sean.
"First, my name isn’t ’Hey.’"
"It’s rude to address someone that way. If you ever join the Knight Order, I’ll be sure to teach you a lesson in etiquette."
"Second, I never offered my name. Have you ever stopped to think why?"
The woman’s gaze shifted from Sean to sweep across Tony and the others. She gave a slight smile. "The reason is very simple."
"You are not worthy of knowing my name."
Sean: "?"
Tony: "??"
Johnson and the others: "???"
Seriously? It was just a name. Was it necessary to be that arrogant?
Besides, Sean was the one who asked, not them. Why did she lump them all into her insult?
"Alright, alright, alright!" Kave laughed, though it was a laugh born from fury. He thought the woman must be into the domineering type, so he shot her a cold, profound look. "Woman," he said, his voice dripping with meaning, "you have successfully piqued my interest!"
For a split second, Sean almost mistook Kave for Kate. The delivery was perfect.
But the woman’s reply was just a single word.
"Idiot."
And with that, she swept away.
