The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 275 145: "Wait, Listen to My Explanation!"Literally unable to pull themselves out."
It wasn't just that the Fallen Nether Technique allowed Wizards to see many novel things, nor was it the sense of accomplishment that came from playing God in a world with a less-developed civilization that made them reluctant to wake up. It was, more critically, that they couldn't wake up even if they wanted to.
The world of the soul is an immeasurable abyss. There is no light above and no bottom below. The longer you stay in the abyss, the easier it is to become lost. Therefore, while Sopea's initial theory that the New World was the Consciousness Riverbed was wrong, the fact that it was like a dream was true. The Fallen Nether Technique, much like a dream, easily blurred the lines of reality.
But it was even more inescapable than a dream.
Because there was no real distinction between the New World and the world the Wizard originally came from. Both were real worlds. No matter which one you believed to be false, you would drive yourself mad.
Sean gave it a try and was horrified to find that he really couldn't seem to log off!
Previously, a single thought was all it took to leave the New World and return to the Real World. But now, no matter how he focused his "thought," it was useless. It was as if the "exit" button in a game had suddenly stopped working.
If he really couldn't go back, did that mean dying in the New World meant true death?
The thought of this possibility made Sean break out in a cold sweat.
'I'm screwed, I'm screwed. This is really bad...'
'Is it too late to apologize to Her Highness the Saintess?'
Little did he know, Diana hadn't finished speaking.
"Scared now?"
"Don't think that just because you're a Soul Reflection you can do whatever you want in this world."
"On the contrary, this place is very dangerous for you."
"You have appeared before me now. From this point on, as long as I wish, I can find the real you at any time. It would be useless even if you fled back to your own world."
"The Empire belongs to the Church Court, and the farm belongs to the Church Court. Nothing can escape the eyes of the Church Court."
Sean's expression changed. "N-No, that's not right!"
"You're not Diana!"
To be precise, this Diana wasn't the "kind" Diana that he, Elise, and the others had imagined.
Because he could feel a tangible killing intent emanating from Diana.
'Sean didn't know where this killing intent was coming from. All he knew was that if Diana wanted to kill him even after learning he was Carl Black, then she couldn't be sincere about rebuilding the Holy Sanctuary. She might even be a double agent!'
Then, Diana finally made her move.
She merely whispered a Spell, and the air in the room instantly solidified, trapping Sean in place like a cage. No matter how he struggled, he couldn't move an inch.
"I'm not actually Diana."
As she spoke, she flicked a finger, and Sean was sent flying sideways, crashing through the bedroom door and landing squarely on the bed.
The next moment.
The air before Sean's eyes began to distort.
Diana materialized from thin air, settling directly onto his hips.
Sean: "!!!"
As Sean watched, Diana's golden hair gradually turned silver. Her once-cold, elegant eyes now glowed with a fiery light. Her slender waist, her full bosom, her long, fair legs, and her powerful hips—all of it outlined a graceful figure that couldn't be concealed even by the tight-fitting gown woven with Soft Silver Armor... and Sean finally remembered.
'Why did Diana's gown look so familiar?'
It was the same dress Olivia had worn in his dream that night!
Sean's eyes widened. "You're Olivia?!"
Diana's gaze was profound. "Sean... oh, no, I suppose I should call you Mr. Blake."
"Should I be honored that the Mr. Blake who has forgotten so much still remembers me?"
Hearing such a "respectful" form of address, Sean knew at once that the Saintess was angry he hadn't recognized her. He was also baffled as to why he hadn't. He should have sensed something familiar about Diana from the very first glance, but he hadn't. Sean didn't know what had gone wrong, but there was no time to dwell on it. First, he needed to calm Olivia down.
He hurriedly said, "Olivia, let me explain!"
Olivia's eyes glinted with ridicule. "After all these years, that's still the only thing you know how to say."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Blake, but I don't want to hear it."
She bent down and pressed her lips to Sean's.
Sean: "Mmph...!"
'So fragrant... no, so tight!'
'No, that's not it either.'
In short, it was forceful and passionate—so passionate that Sean could barely breathe.
'It might sound crass, but he was genuinely thinking it—if this was Olivia's punishment for not recognizing his own wife immediately, then maybe... it wasn't so bad?'
Unfortunately for him.
He had oversimplified things.
Olivia had always been a person of clear-cut loves and hates. That wouldn't change, even after several lifetimes and a new name.
At the same time, she was also a rational person.
A reunion was wonderful, of course, but now was not the time.
Sean had been here for over a month. If he didn't go back soon, he really wouldn't be able to.
Sean hadn't yet realized that as he and Olivia kissed, the moment his hands instinctively went to her slender waist, he had already fallen into her Space Array.
When Olivia's lips finally parted from his, the surrounding scenery had changed dramatically.
Their positions had even changed from lying down to standing.
Olivia had transported him from the bedroom to a cliffside.
Sean hadn't yet processed the change. "Where... are we?"
"Doesn't it look familiar?" Olivia asked.
"A little," Sean admitted. He walked to the edge of the cliff and peered into the endless, deep darkness below, his brow furrowed. "Why does this feel like World's End?"
"It doesn't just feel like it," Olivia said. "This *is* World's End."
Sean: "?"
"There's a World's End here, too?"
"Yes," Olivia said. "And it is also your end."
Sean: "Huh?"
He didn't understand what Olivia meant.
But Olivia quickly clarified with her actions.
"I told you this place was dangerous for you."
"You shouldn't have come."
By now, Olivia's hair had reverted to gold, and her expression had become cold and severe once more.
As Sean watched in disbelief, Olivia reached out a hand and placed it on his chest.
An irresistible, immense wave of Magic Power surged from Olivia's fair palm.
She pushed Sean off the cliff.
