Sean felt an extremely strong sense of familiarity from it, as if he were looking at a second version of himself.
'Or rather, is this the "me" from the New World?'
Sean's pupils constricted, his eyes widening involuntarily. He had just told Diana to save time and get straight to the point when he entered her room, but he never expected her to be *this* direct—bringing him straight to a secret chamber.
"This is…"
"Something you left behind."
It was also the very thing she had been protecting all this time, the reason she had built the False Heaven and Black Rose Castle.
Three words popped into Sean's mind—Path of Divinity!
"So it's not alive?" Sean asked.
Diana laughed. "Of course not."
In truth, she wasn't sure how to define this thing either.
Call it a "clone," and it didn't move. Call it a "statue," and it looked too much like a person.
The only thing she could be certain of was that it was not Blake himself.
There was only one Blake in this world, and that was the man standing beside her right now.
Sean fell silent.
Seeing him quiet, Diana mimicked his earlier tone and mocked, "Isn't this what you were looking for?"
"Now that you've found it, why the silence?"
"And you even asked me if it's alive… You don't know about something you left behind yourself?"
"I'm starting to doubt if you're really him. What should I do?"
The tables had turned, and so had their roles.
Now it was her turn to question Sean.
Sean: "..."
He said with a calm expression, "I've lived for too long. I've forgotten many things."
Diana: "Oh."
'No wonder he didn't recognize me. So he forgot about me, too.'
Sean, still unaware of the impending disaster, kept staring at the "clone," thinking, 'What is this thing for? How do I use it?'
He placed his hand on the "clone."
There was no particular sensation. It was like touching a ball of light—insubstantial, yet he could feel the "heat" it contained.
This "clone" seemed to be condensed from the purest form of Energy.
'Is it meant to be absorbed?'
Sean tried to draw the Energy dissipating from the "clone" into his body.
Seeing this, Diana immediately intervened, pulling him aside.
Sean: "?"
"What are you doing?"
"Are you crazy?"
Diana said, "You know this is the Path of Divinity, and you still dare to touch it?"
The Energy contained within this ethereal body of light and shadow was terrifyingly immense. It was even more powerful than her, far surpassing Tier Ten. Sean, however, was currently only Tier Three. For a Tier Three body to touch Power beyond Tier Ten, there could only be one outcome.
He would explode on the spot.
Sean had actually considered this.
It was just that he had lives to spare and wasn't afraid of dying. There was nothing he wouldn't try.
However, Diana's words served as a reminder.
Energy beyond Tier Ten could only be withstood by a body beyond Tier Ten. This meant he should first reach a level beyond Tier Ten through Cultivation, then absorb the Energy from this light-and-shadow form. Perhaps then he could advance further and become a true God.
But that raised a question—
How was he supposed to cultivate to a level beyond Tier Ten again?
The resources in the Real World were so scarce that they couldn't even support a single Grand Mage. It was impossible to even reach Tier Seven, let alone Tier Ten and beyond.
Besides, while there might be a False Heaven like this in the New World, one might not necessarily exist in the Real World.
It was just like how he had always believed the Kovri Ruins still existed, yet could never find them.
Even if there really was an identical Light and Shadow Clone he had left behind in the Real World, where would he even begin to look for it?
But Diana seemed to have seen through his thoughts, her tone laced with amusement.
"Sean, do you think this world is fake?"
Sean was first stunned, then shocked. His reaction was identical to Elvire's a month ago.
The only difference was that he didn't play dumb. Instead, he wore an expression as if he had seen a ghost.
"You've awakened self-awareness??"
Diana: "..."
'It seems he really has forgotten.'
'Forgotten quite a lot, in fact.'
'This is good, too.'
'I'll just pretend I don't know him.'
'That way, I won't have to go easy on him when I deal with him later.'
"Let's talk outside," Diana said.
'This secret chamber is too small. It's not a good place to make a move.'
By now, Sean had already sensed that something was off.
The only reason he had been so confident in talking to Diana, even telling the noble Her Highness the Saintess to call him grandpa, was because he wasn't from this world, right?
Even if Diana really killed him, he could just create a new character and come back, reappearing before her. He might even give the lofty Her Highness the Saintess a good scare.
But if Diana already knew his origins, the nature of the situation was completely different.
He thought he was putting on an act for Diana, but now it turned out Diana was putting on an act for him. This was no longer a simple matter of embarrassment. It meant an "NPC" in the "New World" could identify a "Player." In other words, the "New World" was reading his mind. This meant that Wizards had no privacy here whatsoever, and it also implied that everything he had done was under Diana's control.
The more Sean thought about it, the more terrified he became. For the first time, he realized there was a problem with the Fallen Nether Technique.
This was definitely not just a Meditation method for Wizards to increase their Magic Power.
But now, it was too late.
Something even more terrifying awaited him.
"Sean, do you know why the Fallen Nether Technique has the word 'Fallen' in it?" Diana asked softly.
'She even knows about the Fallen Nether Technique!'
Realizing the situation was spiraling out of his control, Sean became exceptionally obedient. "Please enlighten me, Her Highness the Saintess."
Diana's words were shocking: "Because you will become addicted to it, unable to break free."
