'He'll die.'
But on the other hand, she wanted him to stay with her. How romantic would it be to go home together as a couple!
She was so conflicted.
'Ugh, whatever. I'll just leave it for now and worry about the future later...' Elvire couldn't be bothered to think about it anymore. It wasn't even a sure thing that she and Sean would get together. The guy still hadn't clearly said he liked her. Did he really expect her to make the first move?
'In his dreams!'
A girl's patience has its limits, you know.
'If Sean keeps dragging his feet, she'll find a chance to kick him to the curb. Hmph!'
Soon, Elise returned from her call.
Her expression had become extremely grim.
"Everyone, we're in trouble."
Sean and the others could only stare back, confused.
"What's wrong?"
"What happened?"
Elvire asked, "Who was on the phone?"
"Spike," Elise replied.
An image of a man surfaced in Sean's mind. 'The one who suddenly showed up when we first met in the Void Technique Space?'
Elise nodded. "Yes."
Elvire frowned. "He was discovered?"
"I'm not sure," Elise said. "But we've been discovered."
The group was baffled.
"What do you mean?"
Elise cut to the chase. "The Florist Family found out we're at World's End. They're already on their way."
"They've mobilized an entire cruise ship, with over three thousand people."
"That includes the Clan Leader of the Florist Family, Robert."
'Robert, Robes... Looks like those two are brothers.' Sean thought.
'So,' Sean mused, 'one manages the Florist Family in the New World, and the other manages them in the Real World?'
Elvire's face darkened. "They're as persistent as ghosts!"
"I'm afraid we'll really have to run for it this time," Elise said.
The Florist Family sent too many people this time, practically their entire clan. Even if we went to get Adelf and the Night Watcher now, it would be too late.
Nine against three thousand. We're at a grave disadvantage.
Elvire habitually glanced at Sean, who always had some unconventional idea up his sleeve. "What's your take?"
Sean threw up his hands. "What is there to say?"
'Run!'
'No idea, no matter how brilliant, could bridge a gap of several thousand people.'
'Even the Truth Technique is no use here.'
'If Olivia had waited a little longer before pushing me off that cliff back in the New World... if she'd let me see that painting first, let me break through to Tier Four, Tier Five, or even Tier Six... then I might've had a shot at stopping the Florist Family's ship from ever reaching the shore. But now...'
As a mere Tier Three, he couldn't even begin to think about facing three thousand people.
Especially since the enemy was in a state of Fury.
Sending this many people at once was clearly about avenging Zajik.
And to restore the honor the Florist Family lost in New Elderidge.
'I wonder if those guys know their home base is gone...'
Sean couldn't help but sigh. "What a shame about my painting."
If Elise hadn't taken that call, he would've completely forgotten about it.
Their original reason for going to the New World was to increase their Magic Power. And it turned out Sopea was right: for anyone below a Grand Mage, as long as it wasn't related to physical constitution, any improvements made in the New World would carry over to the Real World. He was now just a stone's throw away from Tier Four.
But that was precisely why Sean felt he had lost out big time.
He hadn't even advanced a single Tier. It basically meant the whole trip was for nothing.
What Sean didn't know was that even if he had seen the painting, it wouldn't have done him any good.
Because the painting was never meant for him.
It was like a teacher writing a book—how could you expect to have an epiphany from reading your own work?
The painting was indeed one of the extremely rare methods for boosting a Wizard's Magic Power through an external medium, and the boost was significant. Every Wizard with enough Talent had a chance to benefit—with the sole exceptions of Sean and Olivia.
However, this "exception" was well within Olivia's control.
After seeing Sean with her own eyes, she knew better than anyone how desperately he needed Power to protect himself.
While she couldn't grant Sean an "epiphany," she could grant it to others.
Too many eyes were on her, so she couldn't go to the farm herself, but she could send others in her place.
And so.
「Meanwhile, in the New World.」
The painting Sean had been longing for appeared at a ball in Black Rose Castle.
After seeing Sean off, Diana had returned to the False Heaven. Now, for the first time, she was displaying the painting she had personally made for him—a painting that belonged to them alone—for all to see.
Everyone was drunk by this point, some happy, some sad. But they were Wizards, after all—and talented ones at that. No matter how much they drank, their perception was far beyond that of any ordinary person.
Someone noticed something at a glance—
"Her Highness the Saintess's lipstick is smudged! Waaah!"
Diana was taken aback.
Catherine, who was trailing behind her, was rendered speechless.
'She hadn't even noticed before. Now that she was sneaking a closer look, it really did seem to be smudged...?'
Catherine's eyes widened.
'Oh my god, did Her Highness the Saintess actually kiss that man??'
Diana remained expressionless, thinking that there was definitely something wrong with these Wizards.
'She tells them to look at the painting, and they all end up staring at her?'
"Do you want to become Grand Mages or not?"
Diana's icy voice, infused with Magic Power, echoed through the hall, instantly sobering up the drunken crowd of Wizards.
"A Grand Mage!"
"I want to be a Grand Mage!"
Someone shouted, and the crowd immediately began to study the painting.
Under the influence of alcohol, however, their expressions were rather exaggerated. Though they were supposedly studying it, they looked more like they were glaring at the painting as if it owed them money.
The paintings that had appeared at balls in the outside world had all been fakes, which was why no one had ever been able to discern the so-called "secret."
