The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 280 147: Olivia and Her Far-Off Land

'So after all this time, this was never the world we used to live in?'

Elise: "..."

'Is that even possible?'

'Then how did we get here?'

'How did the other Reshapers get here?'

This time, it was Sean's turn to shake his head. "I don't know either."

The only thing that was certain was that they definitely hadn't taken the "official route." Otherwise, they would have been on the same side as Zajik's group of Witch Hunters, not their targets.

"That's not important."

At least, it wasn't important for now.

Elvire, drawing on the information she got from Daeli, quickly sorted everything out and said, "Let's assume for now that the 'New World' is right beneath our feet. The question is, how do we get there?"

Just as Sean had said, the Church Court's passage would surely be guarded. Even if they could gather their forces and charge through from this world, they'd be caught red-handed the moment they arrived on the other side.

Legitimate Grand Mages would be waiting for them.

And more than one of them.

There was no other possibility besides total annihilation.

'My sister didn't tell me where this passage is, either. It's probably because even the Blazing Angel Family can't handle it.'

'Thinking about it that way, the ones guarding the passage to the 'New World' are most likely the Church Court itself.'

'For instance, the Bright King's Court.'

They had to find another way.

Yisha felt a headache coming on.

The cliff before them was actually the best way to sneak across.

But the problem was, you had to become a Grand Mage first to have even a tiny chance of crossing. Yet if you couldn't cross, you couldn't get the Cultivation resources, and then you couldn't become a Grand Mage...

'It's a complete catch-22!'

"Oh, I remember something!" Koni suddenly spoke up. "Do you guys remember a news story from a long time ago? In Sonaros State, they drilled a very, very deep well to search for mineral resources. Later, they said terrifying sounds came from inside the well. The locals called it the whispers of Demons and said they had opened the Gate of Hell. The project was then shut down in a hurry."

Sean was surprised. "That really happened?"

"My teacher told me about it," Koni said.

It must have happened at least a few decades ago. She hadn't even been born yet.

In any case, this incident indirectly confirmed Sean's theory—that their world might truly be flat, with a front and a back.

"Should we go take a look at that well?" Koni asked.

Sean thought for a moment, then nodded. "I think we should."

Elvire, however, disagreed. "If that well really can lead to the 'New World,' it's too late for us to go now."

The project was shut down decades ago. No matter how slow the Church Court might be, they would have discovered it by now.

Maybe the so-called "emergency shutdown" was an order from the Church Court itself.

"You're not getting what I mean." Sean felt he and his sister-in-law had no rapport. He said, "We're not going to that well to cross over. We're going to find out *if* it's possible to cross over through it."

If it is, that means the drilling method works, and we can secretly drill a well of our own.

"Are you sure that would work?" Yisha said. "A project that massive... it would be almost impossible to keep it from being discovered, wouldn't it?"

"True." Sean agreed with the young woman's point, but then added, "But False Heaven and Blake City are also massive projects, and they're still doing just fine."

"False Heaven?"

"Blake City?"

"Where are those?"

Yisha was puzzled.

Sean didn't explain. "Once you learn the Fallen Nether Technique, you'll find out when you go there."

What he meant was that there was always a way. As long as they could confirm this approach was viable, they could pull off a little misdirection.

'If I remember correctly, Kate is a big boss, right?'

'His family used to be in real estate, so he should know a lot of people in that field.'

'All he has to do is pull some strings, win a bid for some project, and tell the public they're constructing a building. What they're *actually* constructing would be up to us, wouldn't it?'

Elvire silently glanced at Sean.

'This guy is full of tricks,' she thought. 'I'd better be on my guard around him.'

'Who knows, one day Sean might use the same tricks he uses on Witch Hunters on me and have me running in circles.'

Elise wanted to ask a few more questions about the "New World," but her phone suddenly rang.

"I have to take this call."

"Okay."

Elvire paid it no mind and continued discussing their next steps with Sean, Yisha, and the others.

No matter how difficult it was, they had to find a way to the New World.

Otherwise, they'd be stuck at Tier Six, unable to advance, and would spend their entire lives as prey, always on the defensive.

There was something she hadn't told Sean yet.

Nor anyone else.

Elvire didn't know if she should say it. It would put immense pressure on everyone.

Because becoming a Grand Mage was far from the final goal in their fight against the Church Court; it was merely the starting point.

The Witch Hunter Families in their world were merely the Church Court's most insignificant minions.

In the "New World," Witch Hunters like these were a dime a dozen.

The Church Court's power was unimaginably vast.

And that wasn't even the most terrifying part.

The truly suffocating, undefeatable enemy was the Pope, who was currently in seclusion.

In the past, during the Era of Polymath, only Carl Black had surpassed Tier Ten.

Now, there was a second one.

And that was *before* he went into seclusion.

When he opened his eyes again and walked out of the Bright King's Court, no one knew how strong he would be.

Elvire hesitated for a long time, but in the end, she didn't say anything.

'Forget it,' she thought. 'Maybe Sean and the others wouldn't want to get involved anyway.'

There were so many Wizards in this world. Not all of them would be willing to sacrifice their lives to rebuild the Holy Sanctuary.

Most of them just wanted to live normal lives, undisturbed by Witch Hunters.

Personally, Elvire didn't want Sean to get involved either.
